  • High-rise buildings with stack effect caused by the foreclosure, which significantly delayed the spread of a fire in effects of these stack effect driving force said. In this research on the stack effect of the lobby if the pressurization of the stairwell analysis of the pressure distribution of the CONTAMW. Overall, the pressurization of the lobby makes it stairwell amount of pressure(+) to the zone in pressure designed to prevent the spread of smoke control performance and found that, the way a normal state and sub-pressurization in the stairwell with stack effect of the turbulence Such as the formation of the upper flow, but, in the upper atmosphere with pressurization was formed by the underlying trend.

  • The efficiency of ventilation system is one of the most important issues of designing ventilation in high-rise apartment buildings. The purpose of this study is to analyze the ventilation efficiency of ventilation system by experimental study using CO2 gas method. The results of this paper can be summarized as follows; (1) An appropriate ventilation including opening planning, mechanical and hybrid system are required. (2) The supply diffuser of ventilation system should be located near the contaminant source. (3) The return grill should be located along with supply diffuser for proper ventilation. and the return grill should be located near or right above the contaminant source. (4) However, the supply location right above the contaminant source has to be avoided. and the supply diffuser should be installed in module with return grill increase ventilation effectiveness.

  • Recently, Incidence of natural disasters are growing gradually. The need for a monitoring system for maintaining the structural integrity of the high-rise buildings against extreme weather events such as typhoons, earthquakes is increasing gradually. One of the most important features in the tall building is to guarantee structural safety during the structure's life time. Structural monitoring technologies might be needed to manage structural safety and to protect human life.

Simulation of the Kitchen and Bathroom Exhaust Systems in High-Rise Apartment Buildings (고층 아파트의 주방 및 욕실 배기 시스템 시뮬레이션)

  • The objective of this study is to find major variables which influence the performance of kitchen and bathroom exhaust systems in high-rise apartment buildings. For this purpose, the influencing factors on the exhaust airflow rates from the kitchen or bathroom are identified and in every cases, which are made of combinations between the influencing factors, the exhaust airflow rates are calculated through the simulations. The results of the simulation show that the exhaust airflow rates from the kitchen and bathroom mainly depends on outdoor air temperature, number of floors, airtightness of the building envelope, fan on ratio, vertically connected to same shaft, exhaust fan capacity for kitchen or bathroom, roof ventilator capacity and shaft area for kitchen or bathroom exhaust.

  • Recently, the matter controlling lateral drift is important in high rise buildings, In particular, seismic control dampers, such as mass damper and hysteretic damper, are emerging in the field of actively reducing drift. But. seismic control dampers have weak points with the lack of quantitative analysis and maintenance of the device. Accordingly, in this study we examine the structural characteristic of Steel Elasto-Plastic Hysteretic Damper, which is needless of maintenance, and then consider the basic conditions in the design and construction of the optimal seismic control effect which uses this device.

  • Greenhouse gas emissions and excessive energy consumption have been an on-going world issue nowadays. We can find that the majority portion is caused by high-rise office buildings. In order to resolve these problems, it is extremely important to implement various active or passive strategies in a building design. To successfully meet these design goals and energy reduction approaches, a project building must utilize an efficient design process from the early start. One of the most effective project delivery process called Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) will be implemented in a case study project building (KEPCO) during design phase and show how important it is to plan a project's green environmental performance goal together through an early collaboration from all key project participants, which helps to construct an successful green building design without any critical construction pitfalls.

  • The focus of this study is that spacial, material, functional, cubical reasons are visually expressed on high-rise office Architecture in Korea according to the period of their completion. Office buildings are analyzed in three of exterior composition : Lower, Middle, Top part of the Building, Comparing the whole composition of the Building, forty-five types of compositions are extracted ; expression of formal, material, structural, functional Decoration which show the tendencies of Korean office buildings.

  • In this study, dynamic responses of high - rise buildings were analyzed through the change of horizontal stiffness and yield strength among characteristics of seismic isolation system by applying middle - layer seismic isolation system to high - rise buildings of 120m height. As a result in order to prevent the displacement of the isolation layer and to control the maximum torsion angle, it is possible to appropriately control by increasing or decreasing the horizontal stiffness and the yield strength. However, depending on the maximum torsional angle and the hysteretic behavior of the seismic isolation system, excessive yield strength and horizontal stiffness increase may induce the elastic behavior of the structure and amplify the response. Therefore, it is considered that it is necessary to select the property value of the appropriate isolation device.

  • Domestic and foreign high-rise buildings are expected to continue to increase in the future. In addition, recently, residents and landlords are demanding maintenance necessary to secure the performance of sustainable buildings, so an effective management plan is needed. Therefore, this study aims to develop customized technologies that can be effectively applied to building structures by comprehensively analyzing existing technology-based research cases. As a result, it is expected that this will serve as a stepping stone to present a s+ample of future technology development along with a reduction in labor dependency on maintenance and quality improvement.

A revised Hermite peak factor model for non-Gaussian wind pressures on high-rise buildings and comparison of methods

  • To better estimate the non-Gaussian extreme wind pressures for high-rise buildings, a data-driven revised Hermitetype peak factor estimation model is proposed in this papar. Subsequently, a comparative study on three types of methods, such as Hermite-type models, short-time estimate Gumbel method (STE), and new translated-peak-process method (TPP) is carried out. The investigations show that the proposed Hermite-type peak factor has better accuracy and applicability than the other Hermite-type models, and its absolute accuracy is slightly inferior to the STE and new TPP methods for non-Gaussian wind pressures by comparing with the observed values. Moreover, these methods generally overestimate the Gaussian wind pressures especially the STE.
