디지털 방사선에서 격자 비에 따른 영상변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Image Change according to Grid Ratio in Digital Radiography )

  • With the introduction of the D.R system, the grid with high removal rate of scattered radiation is selected and used without considering the grid performance evaluation. Despite the high removal rate of scattered radiation belonging to high grid ratio, it is also possible to see the cut-off phenomenon in which the primary ray involved in the formation of image could be removed as well. Thus, the purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for researches on the usefulness of using the grid by presenting the appropriate grid ratio in the D.R system through the measurement of image in grid such as non-grid, 6:1, 8:1, 10:1, 12:1. The equipments used for this study were radiation generator with grid in 12:1, 10:1, 8:1, 6:1, indirect-type detector, and acryl phantom. As the study for image evaluation, this study measured the SNR, PSNR, MSE, and Entropy. In the results of this study, the PSNR was the highest in 6:1 and the lowest in 8:1. The SNR was high in 6:1 and 8:1, and the lowest in 12:1. In case of Entropy, it was high in 8:1 and 10:1, and the lowest in 12:1. Therefore, when the grid is used, it would be more proper to choose the grid in 8:1 or 10:1 with less loss in information content of primary ray rather than the high grid ratio showing the increased patient exposure dose.

  • 터보부호의 일반적인 성능은 높은 SNR에 대해 부호기의 유호자유거리에 따른 근사적인 error-floor bound를 따르는 것으로 알려져 있지만, 낮은 SNR인 water-fall 영역에서의 성능에 대한 연구는 그다지 많이 수행되지 않았다. 본 논문에서는 두 개의 구성부호기의 구속장이 다른 비대칭구조의 터보부호를 제안하고, SOVA(soft output Viterbi algorithm) 복호방식을 이용하여 구속장이 3에서 5까지 가질 수 있도록 설계된 비대칭구조의 터보부호에 대하여 작은 프레임 크기에서 그 성능을 분석하였다.

Improved Algorithm for Fully-automated Neural Spike Sorting based on Projection Pursuit and Gaussian Mixture Model

  • For the analysis of multiunit extracellular neural signals as multiple spike trains, neural spike sorting is essential. Existing algorithms for the spike sorting have been unsatisfactory when the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) is low, especially for implementation of fully-automated systems. We present a novel method that shows satisfactory performance even under low SNR, and compare its performance with a recent method based on principal component analysis(PCA) and fuzzy c-means(FCM) clustering algorithm. Our system consists of a spike detector that shows high performance under low SNR, a feature extractor that utilizes projection pursuit based on negentropy maximization, and an unsupervised classifier based on Gaussian mixture model. It is shown that the proposed feature extractor gives better performance compared to the PCA, and the proposed combination of spike detector, feature extraction, and unsupervised classification yields much better performance than the PCA-FCM, in that the realization of fully-automated unsupervised spike sorting becomes more feasible.

Hybrid SNR-Adaptive Multiuser Detectors for SDMA-OFDM Systems

  • Multiuser detection (MUD) and channel estimation techniques in space-division multiple-access aided orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing systems recently has received intensive interest in receiver design technologies. The maximum likelihood (ML) MUD that provides optimal performance has the cost of a dramatically increased computational complexity. The minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) MUD exhibits poor performance, although it achieves lower computational complexity. With almost the same complexity, an MMSE with successive interference cancellation (SIC) scheme achieves a better bit error rate performance than a linear MMSE multiuser detector. In this paper, hybrid ML-MMSE with SIC adaptive multiuser detection based on the joint channel estimation method is suggested for signal detection. The simulation results show that the proposed method achieves good performance close to the optimal ML performance at low SNR values and a low computational complexity at high SNR values.

  • A Dual Sensor Wiener Filter technique was used to improve the image quality of the scanning type digital radiographic system (resolution and SNR). In this method, two images were acquried simultaneously using two sensors with high and low resolution and SNR values. Using the cross Power spectrum between dual sensor outputs of the same chest radiographic image. we design a new type of Wiener Filter and implement it with fast algorithm. We compared the performance of this new dual sensor filter with conventional single sensor filters (Wiener Filter and Parametric Projec- tion Filter) . In simulation studies, it is shown that this new method has SNR improvement of 1-3 dB better than conventional filters.

  • In this study, a speech enhancement is presented based on the utilization of well-known auditory mechanism, noise masking. The speech enhancement approach adopted here is to derive an modifier that achieves audible noise suppression. This modification selectively affects the perceptually significant spectral values, and is therefore less prone to introduction of unwanted distortions than methods that affect the complete STSA and produces more enhanced results at low SNR as well as at high SNR. The speech enhancement method adopted here needs exact estimation of the minimum specteal value per critical band because it uses only the minimum spectral value per critical band. For this, the method adopted here uses the modified spectral subtraction that is more flexible than power spectral subtraction. So, the result in experiment represented better SNR than before.

Double delta Modulation에 관한 연구 (A study on the Double Delta Modulation System)

  • A study is presented on the DDM (double delta modulation) system which incorporates another modulation loop in front of the delta modulation system. DDM is proposed to delta modulate the error signal which is derivated through the ordinary delta modulation. This system is constructed simply by adding a differential amplifier and an integrator to the basic DM system. Since signal-to-quantization noise ratio SNR is the most informative measure of quantizer performance, the formula of the max. SNR of the DDM system is derived and investigated experimentally for a sinusoidal input. The max. SNR of the DDM is larger than that of DM in low bit rate region and vice versa in high bit rate region.

  • Basically, OCT use the interference effect of Michelson interferometer. The receiver noise of interferometer is a important fact to improve the system performance. To improve the system performance for high resolution image processing, we design a interferometer topology adding the attenuator to the reference arm. In this paper, we design the receiver noise parameter and computer simulation. In this results, SNR of the new topology system is improved 5dB compare to standard interferometer.

Performance Comparison of Orthogonal and Non-orthogonal AF Protocols in Cooperative Relay Systems

  • For a single relay channel, we compare the capacity of two different amplify-and-forward (AF) protocols, which are orthogonal AF (OAF) and non-orthogonal AF (NAF). The NAF protocol has been proposed to overcome a significant loss of performance of OAF in the high spectral efficiency region, and it was also theoretically proved that NAF performs better than OAF in terms of the diversity-multiplexing tradeoff. However, existing results have been evaluated at the asymptotically high signal to noise ratio (SNR), thus the power allocation problem between the source and the relay was neglected. We examine which protocol has better performance in a practical system operating at a finite SNR. We also study where a relay should be located if we consider the power allocation problem. A notable conclusion is that the capacity performance depends on both SNR and power allocation ratio, which indicates OAF may perform better than NAF in a certain environment.

  • High performance delta-sigma modulator is developed for audio-codec applications(i.e.. 16-bit resolution at a 20kHz signal bandwidth). The modulator is realized with fully-differential switched capacitor integrators. All stages employ a single-stage folded-cascode amplifier. The presented delta-sigma modulator when clocked at 3.2MHz achieves 85.2dB peak-SNDR and 94.8dB SNR. This modulator is designed in a SAMSUNG $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. Finally, this paper shows the test setup and FFT result gained from delta-sigma modulator chip designed for audio applications.
