  • In CDMA cellular system, because all users share the frequency resource the signals of other user becomes interference which influences the communication quality. The system capacity defined the number of connected users within a cell is determined by the amount of interference, therefore the exact estimation of interference is important to system performance evaluation. In this paper, we propose an approximated function which calculates other cell interference in terms of Riemann-Zeta function in CDMA cellular systems, and compare with simulation results in other to verify its usefulness. The upper and lower bounds of system capacity calculated with the proposed approximated function gives almost alike result with the simulation. The proposed interference bounds are useful to calculate system capacity and to evaluate some algorithm in a hierarchical cellular systems where various propagation environments are mixed.

  • We analyzed the performance of hierarchical cellular system with multi traffic(voice traffic, data traffic). We executed the computer simulation by the number of reserved channel for handover. For new call, the more the number of channel reserved, the higher the block probability of call became. The blocking probability of data traffic was higher, compared with that of voice traffic

  • Mobile IPv6 is the representative standard protocol proposed to offer mobility of mobile hosts, but it has drawbacks such as high handover latency and packet loss during handover. To complement these drawbacks, several protocols have been proposed and they can support faster handover than the Mobile IPv6, but there still exists inevitable packet loss during handover in those protocols. In this paper, we propose a new handover procedure of mobile host who has a dual link for minimizing packet loss rate during micro handover to improve mobility capability of Cellular Ethernet system that supports mobility at layer 2. And we derive the superiority of proposed scheme by comparing in terms of packet loss rate, handover latency and throughput of proposed scheme with those of Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 which is the representative IP-layer micro mobility protocol by simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose and analyze two adaptive channel allocation schemes for supporting multimedia traffics in hierarchical cellular systems. It is guaranteed to satisfy the required quality of service of multimedia traffics according to their characteristics such as a mobile velocity for voice calls and a delay tolerance for multimedia calls. In the scheme 1, only slow-speed voice calls are allowed to overflow from macrocell to microcell and only adaptive multimedia calls can overflow from microcell to macrocell after reducing its bandwidth to the minimum channel bandwidth. In the scheme II, in addition to the first scheme, non-adaptive multimedia calls can occupy the required channel bandwidth through reducing the channel bandwidth of adaptive multimedia calls. The proposed scheme I is analyzed using 2-dimensional Markov model. Through computer simulations, the analysis model and the proposed schemes are compared with the fixed system and two previous studies. In the simulation result, it is shown that the proposed schemes yield a significant improvement in terms of the forced termination probability of handoff calls and the efficiency of channel usage.

  • Over several decades, a hierarchical cancer stem cell (CSC) model has been established in development of solid cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). In terms of this concept, HCCs originate from liver CSCs. Clinically HCCs show a wide range of manifestations from slow growth to very aggressive metastasis. One of the reasons may be that liver CSCs originate from different cells. This review describes the basic concept of CSCs and the cellular origin of liver CSCs.

  • Multi-Relay Networks should accommodate mobile users of various speeds. The cellular system should meet the minimum residency time requirements for handover calls while considering an efficient use of available channels. In this paper, we design speed-sensitive handover under dynamic hierarchical cellular systems, in which mobile users are classified according to the mean speed of mobile users and each class has its cellular layer. In order to meet the minimum residency time, the cell size of each cellular layer is dynamically determined depending on the distributions of mean speeds of mobile users. Since the speed-dependent non-preferred cell can provide a secondary resource, overflow and take-back schemes are adopted in the system. We develop analytical models to study the performance of the proposed system, and show that the optimal cell size improves the blocking probability.

  • The capacity of a CDMA cellular system is determined by the amount of interference, therefore the exact estimation of interference is important to evaluate the system performance. In this paper, we propose an approximated equation which calculates reverse link other cell interference in the CDMA cellular systems. The equation using Riemann-Zeta function has a property that it is useful in case of any radio propagation loss exponents. And we compare calculation results with simulation results in other to verify it's usefulness. The upper bound of system capacity calculated with the proposed approximated equation gives almost alike result with the simulation. The proposed interference bound is useful to calculate system capacity and to evaluate some algorithm in a hierarchical cellular system which must be considered various propagation exponents.

  • In recent years, there has been increased to access multimedia service through the Internet due to rise of the access speed. We suppose the co-existence of the various access networks in adjacent area in the future, such as wireless LAN, Bluetooth, and 3G Cellular So, the size of the cell will be smaller and the number of access point will be increased. In other words, the potable devices need the efficient mobility scheme due to move between cells frequently Currently, the several of the scheme, which is Cellular IP, HAWAII, Mobile IPv4 regional registration, and hierarchical Mobile IPv6, is suggested to support micro-mobility but Mobile IPv4 is standard scheme to support the mobility of the mobile node. MPLS, which forwards the packet through switching instead of routing using IP address, has begun to deploy in the internet backbone to increase the performance of mobility protocol. The integration of both MPLS and Mobile IP improves the scalability of the Mobile IP data forwarding process by leveraging on the features MPLS which are fast switching and high scalability. Moreover it abbreviates IP-in-IP tunneling between HA and FA. In this paper, we suggest efficient mobility scheme through integration of both MPLS and hierarchical Mobile IPv6.

  • The analysis of microarray data is essential for large amounts of gene expression data. In this review we focus on clustering techniques. The biological rationale for this approach is the fact that many co-expressed genes are co-regulated, and identifying co-expressed genes could aid in functional annotation of novel genes, de novo identification of transcription factor binding sites and elucidation of complex biological pathways. Co-expressed genes are usually identified in microarray experiments by clustering techniques. There are many such methods, and the results obtained even for the same datasets may vary considerably depending on the algorithms and metrics for dissimilarity measures used, as well as on user-selectable parameters such as desired number of clusters and initial values. Therefore, biologists who want to interpret microarray data should be aware of the weakness and strengths of the clustering methods used. In this review, we survey the basic principles of clustering of DNA microarray data from crisp clustering algorithms such as hierarchical clustering, K-means and self-organizing maps, to complex clustering algorithms like fuzzy clustering.

  • A cell formation approach based on cluster analysis is developed for the configuration of manufacturing cells. Cell formation, which is to group machines and parts into machine cells and the associated part families, is implemented to add the flexibility and efficiency to manufacturing systems. In order to develop an efficient clustering procedure, this paper proposes a cluster analysis-based approach developed by incorporating and modifying two cluster analysis methods, a hierarchical clustering and a non-hierarchical clustering method. The objective of the proposed approach is to minimize intercellular movements and maximize the machine utilization within clusters. The proposed approach is tested on the cell formation problems and is compared with other well-known methodologies available in the literature. The result shows that the proposed approach is efficient enough to yield a good quality solution no matter what the difficulty of data sets is, ill or well-structured.
