현존선에 전기분해방식 선박평형수 처리장치 설치를 위한 위험도 평가 분석 (Risk Assessment for Retrofitting an Electrolysis Type Ballast Water Treatment System on an Exiting Vessel)

  • Over the past several years, sea trade have increased traffic by ships which highlighted a problem of unwanted species invading the surrounding seas through ship's ballast water discharge. Maritime trade volume has continuously increased worldwide and the problem still exists. The respective countries are spending billions of dollars in an effort to clean up the contamination and prevent pollution. As part of an effort to solve marine environmental problem, BWM(Ballast Water Management) convention was adopted at a diplomatic conference on Feb. 13 2004. In order to comply harmoniously this convention by each country. This convention will be effective after 12 months from the date which 30 countries ratified accounting for more than 35% of the world merchant shipping volume. On Sep. 8 2016, Finland ratified this convention and effective condition was satisfied as 52 states and world merchant vessel fleet 35.1441%. Thus, after Sep. 8 2017, all existing vessels shall be equipped with BWTS(Ballast Water Treatment System) in accordance with D-2 Regulation, which physically handles ballast water from ballast water exchange system(D-1 Regulation). In this study, we analyzed in detail the optimal design method using the Risk Analysis and Evaluation technique which is mainly used in the manufacturing factory or the risky work site comparing with the traditional design concept method applying various criteria. The Risk Assessment Method is a series of processes for finding the Risk Factors in the design process, analyzing a probility of the accident and size of the accident and then quantifying the Risk Incidence and finally taking measures. In this study, this method was carried out for Electrolysis treatment type on DWT 180K Bulk Carrier using "HAZOP Study" method among various methods. In the Electrolysis type, 63 hazardous elements were identified.

분산 IoT센서 기반 실험실 안전관리 시스템 (Distributed IoT Sensor based Laboratory Safety Management System)

  • 최근 실험실에서 사용하는 시약장은 IoT 기반 다양한 센서들을 활용하여 내부 환경을 실시간으로 측정하고 사용자들에게 서비스를 제공한다. 센서 데이터를 수집한 후 서버 내에서 위험상황을 식별하고 기기들에게 동작 명령을 전송하게 된다. 이와 같은 중앙 집중형 관리시스템은 여러 대의 시약장에서 측정되는 센서 데이터들을 전송받고 처리하게 될 경우 시약장의 수가 증가할 때마다 데이터 처리 속도가 점차 증가하게 되는 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 중앙 집중형이 아닌 분산 환경에서 시약장 내부 환경을 분석하여 위험상황의 식별 및 기기 제어를 수행할 수 있는 분산 제어가 가능한 분산 IoT 센서 기반 실험실 안전관리 시스템에 대해 연구한다. 이와 같이 분산형 제어가 가능한 센서 모듈을 이용한 시약장 내부 환경 제어 통해 위험상황에 대한 식별 및 대처를 자동으로 진행함으로써 기존의 시약장과 실험실을 관리하는 시스템들보다 신속한 대처 및 안전관리가 이루어졌음을 확인하였다.

농업군과 비농업군의 비교를 통한 농업취업자의 근로환경에 관한 연구: 제6차 근로환경조사 원시자료 이용 (A Study on the Working Conditions of Agricultural Workers through a Comparison of Agricultural and General Workers: The 6th Korean Working Conditions Survey)

  • Objectives: This study compared the characteristics of the work environment between agricultural and general workers and analyzed the effects of agricultural working characteristics on work-related health problems. Methods: The participants of this study were 2,347 agricultural workers and 48,042 general workers who were selected by applying standardized weights to the raw data of 50,538 respondents from the 6th Korean Working Condition Survey (KWCS). Variables applicable to both worker groups and related to exposure to hazardous risk factors in the working environment, working hours and intensity of work, health problems and work-related status, and satisfaction with the work environment were selected. Chi-square tests and independent sample t-tests were performed to evaluate the differences in the variables between the two groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to analyze the effects of work environment characteristics on work-related health problems. Results: Compared to general workers, agricultural workers were more exposed to hazardous environments, irregular work patterns such as working on Saturday/Sunday, and short repetitive tasks. They reported more work-related and general health problems, including back pain, upper extremity muscle pain, lower extremity muscle pain, and general fatigue. Agricultural workers showed lower satisfaction with their work environment than general workers. Factors affecting one or more work-related health problems included gender, working years, hazardous factors, irregular work pattern, working hours, and labor intensity. Conclusions: Our findings showed that agricultural workers were relatively more vulnerable to safety issues compared to other occupational groups. Therefore, it is necessary to establish standardized safety and health standards and strengthen systematic safety and health management policies and services for agriculture.

소방관의 근골격계 증상과 직무 스트레스에 관한 연구 (The study for musculoskeletal symptoms and job stress in firemen)

  • Firemen are directly exposed to various harmful chemicals, physical factors and mental stress during rescue and fire-fighting. In fire extinguishing, unstable posture, poisonous gas, dust, high temperature and heavy equipments are possible hazardous factors. The alertness for emergency, shift work, job strain and stress are also possibly hazardous. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the prevalence of musculo-skeletal symptoms and job stress and to determine risk factors in firemen. This study was carried out in a group of 226 firemen in Busan City, Korea. Standardized Nordic Questionnaire was used to investigate the prevalence of musculo-skeletal symptoms and Psycho-social Well-being Index (abbreviated PWI) was used to investigate the prevalence of job stress. General and occupational characteristics were included education, marital status, alcohol and smoking history, working duration, and work shift system. Body mass index (BMI) scores were calculated by physical examination including height and weight. Concerning musculo-skeletal complaints, the commonest site was neck, and shoulder, lower back, upper back were the next. Complaint site above one area of body was about 80%. From multiple logistic regression analysis, working duration was significant variable in musculo-skeletal symptoms. Odds ratio were 15.4 in working duration. About 16.8% was high risk stress group. From multiple logistic regression analysis, shift work and alcohol drinking were significant variables in PWI scores. Odds ratios were 2.25 in shift work. Accordingly, interventions are needed for health promotion of long term and shift worker.

현장 시험시공을 통한 저수지 댐의 재해예측 무선센서 네트워크 시스템 적용성 평가 (Application for Disaster Prediction of Reservoir Dam Wireless Sensor Network System based on Field Trial Construction)

  • 본 연구에서는 무선 센서 네트워크 시스템을 이용한 저수지 댐 시설물 전체의 모니터링 시스템의 적용성을 평가하고자 국내의 저수지 댐을 대표할 수 있는 구간을 시범구축 현장으로 선정해, 계측과 동시에 시설물의 상태를 평가할 수 있는 시스템을 구축, 운영하였다. 무선 센서 네트워크 구축을 위해 시설물의 현재 상태를 평가하여 위험인자를 도출함과 동시에 극한상태에서의 위험인자의 한계값을 도출하였다. 위험구역, 위험인자에 적합한 측정항목을 설정하여 현장에서 측정할 센서의 종류 그리고 위치를 결정하였다. 국내의 저수지 댐을 대표할 수 있는 필댐을 대상으로 현장에서 무선 센서 네트워크 시스템을 구축하여 모니터링 함으로써 시스템의 적용성을 평가하였으며, 현재 댐의 계측관리 기술인 부분 집중방식의 계측과 직접 비교함으로써 시스템의 적용성을 검증하였다.

자율주행시스템 운행지원을 위한 도로 인프라 측면의 위험 요소 관리 방안 (A Study on the Method for Managing Hazard Factors to Support Operation of Automated Driving Vehicles on Road Infrastructure)

  • 각국의 자율주행시스템 기술개발 경쟁이 심화함에 따라 정부도 자율주행시스템의 시장 진입을 전방위에서 지원하고 있다. SAE(Society of Automotive Engineers) 3단계 기술은 운전자가 위험 상황을 회피해야 하고, 4단계 기술은 자율주행시스템 스스로 위험 상황에 대응할 수 있어야 한다. 이에 따라, 공공부문은 도로 위험 상황을 모니터링하고, 도로 인프라 정보를 운전자와 자율주행시스템에 제공하여 대응할 수 있도록 지원할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 도로 인프라 위험 요소를 자율주행시스템의 ODD(Operational Design Domain) 특성에 따라 모니터링 대상별 위험 요소를 세분화하고, 각 위험 요소가 차량에 미칠 영향에 따른 위험도 등급화 및 평가 방안을 제시하였다. 위험 상황 발생 시 자율주행차의 운행 특성을 시뮬레이션하고, 위험 요인 특성과 물리적인 차량 조건 사이의 영향 관계를 파악하여 등급화함으로써 위험도를 평가할 수 있다. 또한 수집된 모니터링 정보는 관리 센터와 공유하고, 요소별 특성에 따른 노드 혹은 링크 형태로 정밀지도에 표출하여 위치정보와 위험도 등급 등 종합적 관리가 가능한 모니터링 체계를 정립할 것을 제안하였다.

잠재프로파일분석을 통한 임금근로자의 위험요인 노출 유형분류 및 영향요인 검증 (Classifying Latent Profiles in the Exposure to Hazard Factors of Salaried Employees)

  • Objectives: This study aims to classify the latent profiles in the exposure to hazard factors of salaried employees and test the determinants. Methods: Latent profile analysis(LPA) was conducted using data from the fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey(KWCS). 30,050 of salaried employees were the subjects of this study. After classifying the employees, multinomial logistic regression was used to test the determinants. Results: Salaried employees were classified with three latent profiles based on the exposure to the hazard factors. Employees included in class 1(32.8%) tend to experience low level of physical hazard factors, moderate level of psychological hazard factors, and high level of office work hazard factors. Employees included in class 2(61.8%) tend to be exposed to the moderate to high level of physical hazard factors, moderate to low level of psychological hazard factors, and low level of office work hazard factors. Employees included in class 3(5.4%) tend to experience high level of psychological and physical hazard factors, and moderate level of office work hazard factors. After classification, the demographic, health-, and employment-related variables were tested. Conclusions: This study clarified the features of each class, and proved that employees in class 3 are quite hazardous in that they are exposed to physical and psychological hazard factors much more frequently than other employees. Thus, this study can be used in predicting the high-risk employees and taking preemptive measures for preventing industrial accidents.

Evaluation of Environmental Risk Factors for Prostate Cancer in a Population of Iranian Patients

  • Background: The Prostate cancer is the 2nd most common cancer worldwide for males, and the 5th most common cancer overall, with an estimated 900,000 new cases diagnosed in 2008 (14% of the total in males and 7% of the total overall) aim of this study was to assess some of the most proposed environmental factors influencing the incidence of prostate cancer among Iranian men. Smoking, opioids, occupation and living location were considered as studied risk factors of the prostate cancer in this research. Material and methods: Two groups of affected men with prostate cancer and controls aged 50-75 years referred to medical clinics were subjects in this case-control study. Living and working place, smoking and drug consuming habits were assessed for any associations with prostate cancer. Results: The largest number, of patients, in order, belonged to Tehran, provincial capitals, major industrial cities, small towns and villages, respectively. The disease showed links with smoking and drugs with a significant difference between controls and patients (P value <0.0001). Conclusions: Our recent evidence duplicates previously done researches confirming the serious adverse effects of smoking and drugs on the prostate cancer occurrence in Iranian men. Living place bearings some hazardous behaviors which increases the rate of diseases as well as advanced chance for associated cancers like prostate.

제철 사업장 위험성평가 사례 분석 (Case Analysis of Risk Assessment for Steel and Iron Works)

  • In the steel industry, steel is manufactured and processed to produce a variety of steel products. The industry provides fundamental materials to the whole range of industries including car, ship, electric appliance and construction industries, so that it is very important as an infrastructure industry. The steel manufacture process involves aerial work, many danger factors caused by the treatment with hazardous gases including BFG and COG and by high pressure gases including $H_2$, $O_2$, $N_2$ and LPG. It requires the management over the large area because many workers work in a plant. The potential dangers in the steel plant were identified and the effect of the danger assessment was verified through the analysis of the danger assessment for the steel plant. The allowed degree of danger was lowered after the improvement through the danger assessment in the plant where the case studies were conducted, which indicates that the danger assessment is highly effective.

FDS와 GIS를 이용한 교량 화재 위험도의 정량적 평가 및 적용방안 (Quantitative Fire Risk Assessment and Counter Plans Based on FDS and GIS for National Road Bridges)

  • 최근 교통과 물류의 발달과 함께 위험물 수송의 증가와 교통량의 증가로 인하여, 주요한 사회기반시설물 중 하나인 교량에 대하여 예상하지 못한 화재사고 화재 발생이 증가하는 추세이다. 또한, 교량 하부 공간의 효율적인 사용에 대한 요구가 늘어남에 따라, 하부에 유조차 및 화물차 등의 위험물질이 적치되는 비율이 증가하고 있으며, 앞서 기술한 이유들로 인하여 최근 교량의 화재 발생 위험성이 급격히 증가하고 있다. 하지만, 이러한 피해를 줄이기 위해, 교량에 대한 화재 위험도 평가가 수행된 사례가 있으나, 사용자의 관점에서 안전성을 고려한 실용적으로 위험도를 평가할 수 있는 모델이 부족하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국도교량에 적용 가능한 정량적인 위험도 평가모델을 제시하였다. 교량의 화재위험도에 큰 영향을 미치는 형하고, 화재강도, 교량의 재료, 소방차량 도착시간 등을 주요인자들로 선정하였으며, 선정된 인자들을 FDS에 반영하여 화재강도와 지속시간에 따른 각 교량의 최고 온도를 산출하였다. FDS 해석결과와 위험도 등급기준, 소방차량 도착시간을 반영한 화재 위험도 평가 모델과 위험도에 따른 대응방안을 수립하였다. GIS의 네트워크 분석기능을 통해 소방서에서 교량까지의 도착시간을 예시적으로 산출하였으며, 이를 통해 예시적인 교량의 위험도 등급을 평가하고, 그에 따른 대응방안을 제안하였다.
