  • Unsteady flow problems created by hydraulic transients in pipeline systems with pump are of significant importance because they can cause excessive pressure, cavitation, vibration and noise. In this paper, an analysis of transient flow for the pump pipelines is developed by means of the characteristic method. The calculated results of the program to simulate water hammer due to sudden valve closure in a simple pipeline are compared with those of the analytical method. Expecially the water hammer due to power failure in pump pipeline system with surge tank was simulated. As the results, both the upsurge and the downsurge along the pipeline are reduced.

  • In the pilling works in the city, it is tend to transfered to the non-vibration pilling works. This drop-hammer pilling executed with in 2 meters distance to neighbour building structure. in the rainy season. According to imperical formula which tested in similar site, Vibration damaged area is within 14 meters radius from drop-hammer pilling site. • In this case, we have selected a representative location in the vicinity of large underground structures where they cross a runway and taxiway: measured the effects of the dynamic hammer compaction by distance: analyzed the measured results over a period of time and for many frequencies: and determined the maximum anticipated particle velocity (PV) of vibration, caused by the dynamic hammer, verses distance. In addition, while compacting the hydrofill, we reviewed the impact of subsurface particle velocities, caused by hammer compaction methods, upon newly constructed reinforced concrete underground structures. We have implemented the appropriate technical standards after reviewing domestic and international technical standards concerning allowable vibration velocity appropriate In the many types of underground structures at Inchon International Airport.

  • Index tests are useful because they are rapid and cheap-and if bias is known the fundamental property can be estimated, as when estimating the compressive strength or the tensile sterngth from the rock test hammer value. Index tests which have proved to be very useful are the rock test hammer, the point load test and sonic velocity test. These can provide index values in their owing right or be used to estimate the compressive strength, the tensile strength and elastic modulus. Because of the heterogeneous and fractured nature of rock, many index tests have been developed for a variety of purposes, e.g.for use in rock mass classification schemes.

  • This paper presents the validities of the removal time of side forms considering the relationship between rebound number of P type schmidt hammer and compressive strength. According to test results, compressive strength of 40% of W/C at 12 hours shows 16kgf/$cm^{2}$ and 50% of W/C at 15 hours, 13kgf/$cm^{2}$. Rebound number at 9 hours after casting shows 13 and 9 (W/C 40% and W/C 50%). According to the regression analysis, rebound number of P type schmidt hammer to gain 50kgf/$cm^{2}$ of is estimated 20.1. It is thought that desirable rebound number of P type schmidt hammer to gain 50kgf/$cm^{2}$ is determined 25 considering safety factor.

  • The spectrum of impulse response signal from an impulse hammer testing is widely used to obtain frequency response function(FRF) of the structure. However the FRFs obtained from impact hammer testing have not only leakage errors but also finite record length errors when the record length for the signal processing is not sufficiently long. The errors cannot be removed with the conventional signal analyzer which treats the signals as if they are always steady and periodic. (omitted)

  • Hammer forging was employed for Alloy 718 disk. The change in grain size during hot forging depends very much on dynamic recrystallization. The final grain size depends especially on the critical strain$($\varepsilon$_C)$/TEX> for dynamic recrystallization and Zener-Holloman parameter(Z). In this study, the critical strain$($\varepsilon$_C)$, the strain for 50 pct. recrystallization$($\varepsilon$_{0.5})$ and fraction of dynamic recrystallization(Xdyn) were measured by compression tests. FE simulation was also carried out ot predict the evolution of microstructure. The strain, strain rate and temperature distribution predicted by forging simulation can be effectively used to predict the distribution of grain sizes in the forged workpiece. The present model predictions showed an excellent agreement with the microstructural evolution of hammer-forged Alloy 718 disks.

  • The spectrum of impulse response signal which is obtained from an impulse hammer testing is used for frequency response function, nevertheless it has serious faults when the record length for the signal processing is not very long. The faults cannot be avoided with the conventional signal analyzer that is processing all the signals as if they are always periodic. The signals generated by the impact hammer are undoubtedly non-periodic because of the damping, and are acquired for limited recording time due to the memory as well as the computation performance of the signal analyzer. This paper will make clear the relation between the faults and the length of recording time, and propose the way for solving the faults.

  • This paper Presents the performance test of an impact hammer drill in conjunction with the parameter consideration of coefficient of restitution, lubrication and friction, pressure leakage, vibration damper and production quality. Novel measurement setups are innovated in order to get the Parameter data. The measured data are compared with the computational results, and this comparison gives a confidence on the computational model, which can be used for a optimal design of impact hammer drills.
