  • The carbody of the Korean Rubber Tired AGT is small size and light weight comparing to existing electric railcars. For this reasons, car shape and arrangement of major equipments are limited. AGT is newly adopted mass transportation system in Korea. Therfore, it should be desined to appeal to passengers and create new passenger demand.   • The pneumatic/nydraulic brake system is recently apply to the AGT system such merit as installation is convenient and brake force is strong or than pneumatic brake system. The pneumatic/ hydraulic brake system consist of brake operating unit, electronic control unit, air compressor and pneumatic/hydraulic tranducer. The components of it are controlled and designed to perform the function of brake system. Therefore, This paper design and the pnuematic/hydraulic brake system and propose the derection of development for AGT system.

  • Korea Railroad Research Institute(KRRI) has developed the rubber-tired AGT system from 1999 to 2004. The rubber-tired AGT vehicle is now on test for its performance and function in the Gyeong-San test line. In this paper, we provide the reliability management plan to assure required the RAMS(reliability, availability, maintainability 8t safety) of the AGT vehicle system.

  • As the AGT system has never operated in Korea, the construction of test track is essential to the acquisition of safety for the passengers. However, the test track is a synthetic system including vehicle, power system, signalling, track etc, several factors must be considered. In this paper, we suggest the general guideline for the test track of AGT system and test items on test track through the investigation of leading test facilities in the world. Through continuous study and investigation, we finally will build the test track to verify the reliability requirements between the train and infrastructures

  • The rubber type AGT system is operated by driverless that signaling is CBTC type. The system function is acomplished exactly to obtain the safety and reliability of system and the system is designed to minimize risk. In order to design the system, the functional analysis is performed. Recently functional analysis is performed by RDD-100 which is used and verified by aerospace, military, etc. Therefore, The design tool RDD-100 is used to perform functional analysis in AGT system development project.

  • This paper proposes an experimental study on the traction system of rubber tired AGT (Automated Guideway Transit). IGBT VVVF inverter is developed for 1C2M propulsion system of AGT, and it consists of inverter stack, gate control unit, control unit, and interface unit. The combination test was carried out to prove the performance of inverter, and test results show that the developed inverter is excellent.

A Genetic Algorithm for Guideway Network Design of Personal Rapid Transit (유전알고리즘을 이용한 소형궤도차량 선로네트워크 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a customized genetic algorithm (GA) to find the minimum-cost guideway network (GN) of personal rapid transit (PRT) subject to connectivity, reliability, and traffic capacity constraints. PRT is a novel transportation concept, where a number of automated taxi-sized vehicles run on an elevated GN. One of the most important problems regarding PRT is how to design its GN topology for given station locations and the associated inter-station traffic demands. We model the GN as a directed graph, where its cost, connectivity, reliability, and node traffics are formulated. Based on this formulation, we develop the GA with special genetic operators well suited for the GN design problem. Such operators include steady state selection, repair algorithm, and directed mutation. We perform numerical experiments to determine the adequate GA parameters and compare its performance to other optimization algorithms previously reported. The experimental results verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach for the GN design problem having up to 210 links.

  • Monorail System has many advantages compared with other Urban Lightweight Transit Systems, such as the friendliness of the vehicle's appearance, slenderness of the bridge structures, it's low construction cost and short construction period. So, lots of city governments have reviewed or proposed the Monorail System as the attractive alternative system. And recently, Daegu Metropolitan City Government have chosen the Monorail System for the Urban Railroad Line 3. According to these trends on Urban Lightweight Transit Systems, this paper has introduced the outline of the planning and design of Monorail Bridges. At first, trends of overseas Monorail Bridges have been reviewed and the principal design criteria adopted in the basic design of the Urban Railroad Line 3 for Daegu have been introduced. And next, the methods of planning, design, fabrication of the guideway beams which are made of PSC Beam or Steel Beam have been explained. We hope this paper be helpful for the Engineers who are interested in the Monorail Bridges.
