  • We evaluated the applicability of baking soda, charco'al, coffee, and green tea as a natural deodorant in Kimchi packaging. Moreover, to evaluate the potential usage of these deodorants in packaging materials and confirm their applicability in high-temperature melt-extrusion processing, the thermal stabilities of the deodorants were investigated, and heat-treated deodorants were evaluated in terms of the deodorizing function compared with non-treated deodorants. Aroma patterns were decreased after deodorizing treatment with all-natural deodorants. Dimethyl disulfide, methyl trisulfide, and diallyl disulfide, the most significant odorous Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of Kimchi, decreased after treatment with the deodorants. In particular, baking soda and charcoal showed the highest efficiency in removing odorous compounds and VOCs from Kimchi, even after high-temperature processing. The acetic acid removal rates for both baking soda and charcoal were 99.9±0.0%. The heating process increases the deodorizing effects of baking soda. Sensory evaluation results showed that there is a significant increase (p < 0.05) in the overall preference for Kimchi samples packaged with charcoal and baking soda. This study provides useful information for the deodorization effects of natural deodorants for Kimchi smell and their applicability for packaging materials.

  • The multi-agent system is an environment in which applications solve tasks by cooperating with each other. In the multi-agent system, a user can solve complex problems by issuing a single command instead of a series of commands. However, agents depend on the state of other agents for they cooperate with each other. The problem worsens as multi-agent systems are connected to from a group of multi-agent systems. In this paper, we present the termination problem of an agent in a multi-agent system or a group of multi-agent systems. We also give asolution of the problem and present an example through implemented multi-agent systems.

  • Semi-Solid Diecasters usually carry out the Semi-Solid diecasting experiments before producing new casts. At the Semi-Solid diecasting stages, the runner-gate part has been always repeatedly corrected, which leads to a tedious processing time and increased processing cost. A large amount of experience is essential in manual assessment and if the design is defective, much time and a great deal of efforts will be wasted in the modification of the die. In this study, design system has been developed based on design database. In addition, gate experiment for gating system design has been carried out to append the database. It is possible for engineers to make efficient gating system design of Semi-Solid diecasting and it will result in the reduction of expenses and time to be required. The detailed contents of the research are described in the followings.

  • In this study, we investigated the effects of precipitates and oxide dispersoids on the high-temperature mechanical properties of oxide dispersion-strengthened (ODS) Ni-based super alloys. Two ODS Ni-based super alloy rods with different chemical compositions were fabricated by high-energy milling and hot extrusion process at 1150 ℃ to investigate the effects of precipitates on high-temperature mechanical properties. Further, the MA6000N alloy is an improvement over the commercial MA6000 alloy, and the KS6000 alloy has the same chemical composition as the MA6000 alloy. The phase and microstructure of Ni-based super alloys were investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. It was found that MC carbide precipitates and oxide dispersoids in the ODS Ni-based super alloys developed in this study may effectively improve high-temperature hardness and creep resistance.

  • Prediction of final microstructures after high temperature forming of Ti-6Al-4V alloy was attempted in this study. Using two typical microstructures, i.e., equiaxed and $Widmanst\ddot{a}tten$ microstructures, compression test was carried out up to the strain level of 0.6 at various temperatures $(700\~1100^{\circ}C)$ and strain rates $(10^{-4}\~10^2/s)$. From the flow stress-strain data, parameters such as strain rate sensitivity (m) and activation energy (Q) were calculated and used to establish constitutive equations for both microstructures. Then, finite element analysis was performed to predict the final microstructure of the deformed body, which was well accorded with the experimental results.

  • Organic-inorganic hybrid thermoelectric materials have obtained increasing attention because it opens the possibility of enhancing thermoelectric performance by utilizing the low thermal conductivity of organic thermoelectric materials and the high Seebeck coefficient of inorganic thermoelectric materials. Moreover, the organic-inorganic hybrid thermoelectric materials possess numerous advantages, including functional aspects such as flexibility or transparency, low cost raw materials, and simplified fabrication processes, thus, allowing for a wide range of potential applications. In this study, the types and synthesis methods of organic-inorganic thermoelectric hybrid materials were discussed along with the methods used to enhance their thermoelectric properties. As a key factor to maximize the thermoelectric performances of hybrid thermoelectric materials, the nanoengineering to control the nanostructure of the inorganic materials as well as the modification of the organic material structure and doping level are considered, respectively. Meanwhile, the interface between the inorganic and organic phase is also important to develop the hybrid thermoelectric module with excellent reliability and high thermoelectric efficiency in addition to its performance in various electronic devices.

  • The liquid metal shearing device was constructed and assembled with a commercial high-pressure die-caster in order to induce intensive turbulent shearing force on molten aluminum alloys. The effect of the liquid metal shearing on the microstructure and tensile properties of A356 alloys was investigated with the variation of iron content. The experimental results show that dendritic primary ${\alpha}$-Al phase was effectively modified into a equiaxed form by the liquid metal shearing. It was also found that the needle-like ${\beta}$-AlFeSi phase in a Fe containing A356 alloy was changed into a blocky shape resulting in the improved mechanical properties. Based on the mechanical properties, it was suggested that the iron content in A356 alloy could be more widely tolerated by utilizing the liquid metal shearing HPDC process.

  • Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), a unique class of polymers, combine the processing ease of thermoplastics with the advanced properties of thermoset rubbers. TPEs can be remelted several times without any significant loss of properties, and can be molded into complex shapes using conventional processing equipment. Due to their characteristics, TPEs are ideal for use in a variety of applications in the automotive field. Although the TPE market of the Republic of Korea is currently at its niche, the increasing manufacturing push from major companies is expected to open up multiple opportunities for these products in the automotive sector. This manuscript highlights a detailed technological trend of the global automotive thermoplastic elastomers market.

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm of redeye correction. For naturally redeye correction, we assumed positions of the redeye at an image which produced redeye, and we estimated rate of the redeye to apply the appropriate redeye correction suitably. We extract and label pixels those are possible of generating redeye using red, skin and reflected light color. The each labeled group is decided by rates of length and width, dimension, density, the color of white of the eye and reflected light color of groups for the redeye group. We corrected positions of redeye using blurring effect, naturally. In the case of designing the proposed algorithm, we designed the redeye correction hardware using the minimum of memories for efficiency of hardware.

A ground to air guidance missile is required various beam patterns in order to counteract different kind of target. Therefore, we designed the hardware and software architecture considering flexibility. This signal processor consists of ADC, FPGA, DSP and etc. FPGA provides peripheral interface to DSP and convert digital IF signal to baseband signal. DSP performs signal processing, calculates target's information and controls devices. Each parts' hardware are connected in series and signal processing algorithms for various beam patterns are built in parallel.
