The blue green alga, Microcystis aeruginosa, was found to accumulate proline under the stressful concentration of cupric ions. The changes of proline level in Microcystis aeruginosa in response to copper(Cu) have been monitored and the function of the accumulated proline was studied with respect to its effect on Cu uptake. Exposure of Microcystis aeruginosa elevated concentrations of Cu led to accumulation of fee proline depending on the concentrations of the metal in the external medium. The greater the toxicity or accumulation of the metal, the higher the amount of proline in algal cells were found. When proline was exogenously supplied prior to Cu treatment, the absorption of Cu was markedly reduced. When exogenous proline was supplied after Cu treatment, it resulted in a remarkable desorption of the adsorbed Cu immediately after the addition of proline. Pretreatment of Microcystis aeruginosa with proline counteracted with metal-induced lipid peroxidation. The results of the present study showed a protective elect of proline on metal toxicity through inhibition of lipid peroxidation and suggested that the accumulation of proline may be related to the tolerance mechanism for dealing with Cu stress.
$(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor particles with high brightness were prepared by spray pyrolysis. The changes in the photoluminescence intensity and morphology of $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ were investigated by changing the posttreatment temperature and the concentration of dopant. The prepared $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ particles has a dense structure, but irregular shape after the posttreatment. When they were excited by the ultraviolet light of 410 nm, a broad emission band with a peak at 508 nm was observed. The photoluminescence intensity of the prepared $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ particles was enhanced by increasing the posttreatment temperature up to 1300 $^{\circ}C$ and further improved by adding several rear-earth codopants. The $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ particles prepared by spray pyrolysis had a good excitation spectrum in the wavelength longer than 350 nm. Therefore, it was concluded that the $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ prepared by spray pyrolysis is a good green-emitting phosphor for LED application.
Thioredoxin reductase (TrxR), a component of the redox control system involving thioredoxin (Trx), is implicated in defense against oxidative stress, control of cell growth and proliferation, and regulation of apoptosis. In the present study a stable transfectant was made by introducing the vector pcDNA3.0 harboring the fission yeast TrxR gene into COS-7 African green monkey kidney fibroblast cells. The exogenous TrxR gene led to an increase in TrxR activity of up to 3.2-fold but did not affect glutathione (GSH) content, or glutaredoxin and caspase-3 activities. Levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), but not those of nitric oxide (NO), were reduced. Conversely, 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobezene (CDNB), an irreversible inhibitor of mammalian TrxR, enhanced ROS levels in the COS-7 cells. After treatment with hydrogen peroxide, the level of intracellular ROS was lower in the transfectants than in the vector control cells. These results confirm that TrxR is a crucial determinant of the level of cellular ROS during oxidative stress as well as in the normal state.

InN/GaN multi-layers were grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD) in order to get the appropriate structure for an high power blue-green light emitting diode(LED), and effects of growth conditions (growth temperature, pressure, and $trimethylindium(TMIn)-NH_3-N_2\; flow\; rare)$ on the integrated photoluminescence (PL) intensity and PL peak energy in InN/GaN multi-layers were investigated. The optimized growth conditions with the highest integrated PL intensity for InN/GaN multi-layers were obtained: the growth temperature at $780^{\circ}C$, the growth pressure at 325 Torr, the TMIn flow rate with 150 $m\ell$/min, the $NH_3$flow rate with 3.2 ι/min, and $N_2$ flow rate with 2 ι/min.
Lu3Al5-xGaxO12:Ce3+,Cr3+ powders are prepared using a solid-state reaction method. To determine the crystal structure, Rietveld refinement is performed. The results indicate that Ga3+ ions preferentially occupied tetrahedral rather than octahedral sites. The lattice constant linearly increases, obeying Vegard's law, despite the strong preference of Ga3+ for the tetrahedral sites. Increasing x led to a blue-shift of the Ce3+ emission band in the green region and a change in the emission intensity. Persistent luminescence is observed from the powders prepared with x = 2-3, occurring through a trapping and detrapping process between Ce3+ and Cr3+ ions. The longest persistent luminescence is achieved for x = 2; its lifetime is at least 30 min. The findings are explained using crystal structure refinement, crystal field splitting, optical band gap, and electron trapping mechanism.

Light fermentation has been conducted under different light conditions such as normal dark light, white light, and light emitting diodes (LEDs) various color (blue, green, red, white on blueberry powder with fermenting bacteria Bacillus subtilis (B2). The bacteria B2 was isolated and identified by 16S rRNA sequencing method. RYRP biologically converted to secondary metabolites through light fermentation in the presence of Bacillus subtilis, the bacteria actively involved in bioconversion process. LEDs fermentation to enhance the production of phenolic content while comparing to normal dark and white light. Among the different color LEDs, blue LEDs mediated fermentation showed higher amount of total phenolic and flavonoid content. Then blue LEDs mediated fermented compound were characterized by FTIR and GC-MS, subsequently the compound was analyzed antioxidant activity tests and the antioxidant activity exhibited higher. This is the first study to demonstrate that B. subtilis-LEDs mediated fermentation is useful for facilitating phenolic compound production and enhancing antioxidant activity, which may have greater application fermentation fields.

The ocean signal that reaches the detector of an imaging system after multiple interactions with the atmospheric molecules and aerosols was retrieved from the total signal recorded at the top of the atmosphere (TOA). A simple method referred to as 'Path Extraction' applied to the Landsat-TM ocean imagery of turbid coastal water was compared with the conventional dark-pixel subtraction technique. The shape of the path-extracted water-leaving radiance spectrum resembled the radiance spectrum measured in-situ. The path-extraction was also extended to the SeaWiFS ocean color imagery and compared with the standard SeaWiFS atmospheric correction algorithm, which relays on the assumption of zero water leaving radiance at the two NIR wavebands (765 and 865nm). The path-extracted water-leaving radiance was good agreement with the measured radiance spectrum. In contrast, the standard SeaWiFS atmospheric correction algorithm led to essential underestimation of the water-leaving radiance in the blue-green part of the spectrum. The reason is that the assumption of zero water-leaving radiance at 755 and 865nm fails due to backscattering by suspended mineral particles. Therefore, the near infrared channels 765 and 865nm used fur deriving the aerosol information are no longer valid for turbid coastal waters. The path-extraction is identified as a simple and efficient method of extracting the path radiance largely introduced due to light interaction through the complex atmosphere carried several aerosol and gaseous components and at the air-sea interface.interface.
To elucidate the mechanisms by which algal food quality affect Daphnia growths, we measured carbon incorporation rates and respiration rates of Daphnia magna with Cryptomonad Rhodomonas minuta, green algae Scenedesmus acutus and cyanobacteria Synechococcus sp. with varying physiological states as food. Carbon assimilation rates were high with R. minuta and S. acutus and low with Synechococcus sp. showing a similar pattern to the growth rate pattern. There was no clear difference among respiration rates of three algal species. Carbon assimilation rates and respiration rates of D. magna appeared to be independent on Molar C:P ratios in algal foods. Carbon growth efficiencies (incorporated carbon per assimilated carbon amount) were lower when D. magna fed with Synechococcus sp. than fed with R. minuta or S. acutus. Analysis of variance results show that carbon assimilation rates which were sum of incorporation and respiration rates and carbon growth efficiencies were only dependant on species affiliation. Overall, our results showed that algal species with varying ${\omega}3$ polyunsaturated fatty acid content led different carbon incorporation rates and overall carbon assimilation rates of D. magna.

In this study, we proposed a new method that can be measure ECG (Electrocardiography) and PPG (Photoplethysmography) in realtime on the site of the wrist for check the state of health in daily life. For convenience measurement of ECG the lead I method was used on the wrist, and omit the reference junction ECG I was measured in the right hand and the left hand of the potential difference. Then the measured electrocardiogram was amplified by the differential amplifier and the signals were passed HPF, LPF, and BPF filters. For removing the PPG's noise from the Motion artifact and temperature, we apply the reflective photoelectric volume pulse wave measurement method using green LED as a light source. The circuits was designed to be able to check the waveform using higher active amplification method at weak signals. For the validation of our device, the measured signals were compared with E2-KIT on same time. The results shows that the error does not exceed the maximum one, most of the data is confirmed to be issued Peak inspection of the same number.

Clinically applicable light emitting diode (LED) has been widely investigated because of relatively low heat generation, low cytotoxicity, and non-invasiveness compared to other therapeutic methods. Therefore, we investigated the therapeutic effects of several wavelengths of light emitting diode against human cervical cancer cells and analyzed the individual inhibitory effect for the cancer cell proliferation. In the experiment, prepared HeLa cells were exposed by red, green and blue light-emitting diode for 10 minutes each. Relatively short-wavelength light-emitting diode (blue) showed stronger therapeutic effects than relatively long-wavelength light-emitting diodes.
