DIAL용 XeCl 레이저펌핑 쌍공진기색소레이저의 파장가변특성 (Wavelength tunability of XeCl laser pumped double-resonator dye laser for DIAL)

  • XeCl 레이저로 펌핑하는 쌍공진기 색소레이저와 2단 증폭시스템을 개발하여 DIAL시스템에 적합한 두개의 파장을 동시 또는 순차적으로 출력하였다. 개발된 쌍공진기는 1200g/mm의 회절격자를 갖는 grazing-incidence 방법에서 제1차 및 제2차 회절차수를 이용하여 구성되었다. 출력특성은 스펙트럼 선폭이 10pm이하이고 펌프 에너지에 대한 전체효율은 6% 이상이다. 또한, 파장가변 영역은 제1차 및 제2차의 회절차수에 대해 각각 434-470nm, 436-468nm이며 2단의 증폭기의 증폭이득은 37dB, 추출효율은 9%이다. 개발된 레이저 증폭시스템에서 Coumarine-450의 색소로 발진하고 이의 출력 6mJ을 DIAL 시스템의 레이저 광으로 전송하여 수원 상공의 NO$_{2}$가스 농도분포를 측정하였다. 이 결과 개발된 색소레이저 시스템은 DIAL의 레이저 광원으로 매우 적합함을 확인하였다.

  • The benefits of using DLC coatings on steel in dry sliding are well known. The present study has investigated the effects of using the same materials but in a boundary lubricated environment. Tribological tests were performed using a load-scanning device and a lubricant with an extreme-pressure (EP) additive. XPS and grazing incidence XRD are used for chemical analysis. The chemical composition of the resulting tribofilm is correlated to different friction behaviors and contact loads, and indicates that high loads are beneficial for formation of low friction tribofilm.

  • This paper introduces an experimental study for the noise characteristics and reduction of a ventilating fan system. For the purpose of noise reduction of it, an absorptive duct silencer filled with a glass fiber has been conventionally utilized. However, a glass fiber has some disadvantages like hygiene and secondary pollution problems. In order to overcome these problems, in this paper, a perforated duct silencer has been applied to the ventilating fan system. For the designing of a perforated duct silencer, the transmission losses for various perforated panel systems are measured and compared with their sound absorption performances.

  • Nondestructive nanostructural analysis is indispensable in the development of nano-materials and nano-fabrication processes for use in nanotechnology applications. In this paper, we demonstrate for the first time a quantitative, nondestructive analysis of nanostructured thin films supported on substrates and their templated nanopores by using grazing incidence X-ray scattering and data analysis with a derived scattering theory. Our analysis disclosed that vertically oriented nanodomain cylinders had formed in 20-100 nm thick films supported on substrates consisting of a mixture of poly(styrene-b-methyl methacrylate) (PS-b-PMMA) and PMMA homopolymer, and that the PMMA nanodomains were selectively etched out by ultraviolet light exposure and a subsequent rinse with acetic acid, resulting in a structure consisting of hexagonally packed cylindrical nanopores.

The transient sputtering yield change of an amorphous Si layer by low energy $O_2^{+}$ and $Ar^{+}$ ion bombardment

  • The sputtering yield change of an amorphous Si layer on Si(100) was measured quantitatively for 0.5 keV $O_2^{+}$ and $Ar^{+}$ ion bombardment with in suit MEIS. In the case of 0.5 keV $O_2^{+}$ ion bombardment, at the initial stage of sputtering before surface oxidation, the sputtering yield of Si was 1.4 (Si atoms/$O_2^{+}$) and then decreased down to 0.06 at the ion dose of $3\times10^{16}O_2\;^{+}\textrm{/cm}^2$. In the case of 0.5 keV $Ar^{+}$ ion bombardment, the sputtering yield of Si for the surface normal incidence was 0.56 at the ion dose of 2.5 ${\times}$ 10$^{15}$ $Ar^{+}\textrm{cm}^2$, and rapidly saturated to 1.2 at dose of $7.5\times10^{15}Ar^+\textrm{cm}^2$. For the incidence angle of 80 from surface normal, the sputtering yield of Si was saturated to about 1.4 at the initial stage of sputtering. The surface transient effects, caused by change in sputtering yield at the initial stage of sputtering can be negligible when 0.5 keV $Ar^{+}$ ion at extremely grazing angle was used for sputter depth profiling.g.

Investigation of the Validity of the Image Model for the Analysis of Spherical Wave Reflection

  • The validity of the image model is investigated both analytically and experimentally in a half space with an infinite single reflecting surface present. This paper exploits the Sommerfeld integral that represents the exact solution for the reflected field in the half space. The solution is shown to be obtained by direct numerical integration which yields more accurate and stable results. The predicted results from the image model are compared to those from the direct numerical integration of the Sommerfeld integral. It is also experimentally demonstrated that the image model gives acceptably accurate results. It is of significance that this paper reveals analytical and experimental validation of using the image model except near-grazing incidence.

  • 흡음률을 예측 및 평가하기 위한 연구로서 우선 수직입사 흡음률을 예측하는 경험식 모델에 대한 비교 연구를 수행하였다. 비교결과는 Voronina 가 제안한 경험식이 상대적으로 실험치와 잘 일치하고 있다. 한편 수직입사와 랜덤입사와의 상관관계를 실험 연구를 통하여 조사하였다. 이 상관관계는 주파수에 따라서 다르게 나타나고 있다. 저주파수 대역에서는 랜덤 입사가 수직입사 보다 크게 나타나고 있지만 고주파수에서는 수평입사 성분의 영향으로 랜덤입사에서는 감소하는 경향을 보이고 있다.

  • 흡음률을 평가하기 위한 연구로서 임피던스 튜브를 통한 수직입사 흡음률과 잔향실을 이용한 랜덤입사 흡음률에 대한 실험연구를 수행하였다. 한편 수직입사와 랜덤입사와의 상관관계를 실험 연구를 통하여 조사하였다. 이 상관관계는 주파수에 따라서 다르게 나타나고 있다. 저주파수 대역에서는 랜덤 입사가 수직입사 보다 크게 나타나고 있지만 고주파수에서는 수평입사 성분의 영향으로 랜덤입사에서는 감소하는 경향을 보이고 있다.

Order-to-disorder Behavior of Block Copolymer Films

  • Block copolymer (BCP) self-assembly in a film geometry has recently been the focus of increased research interest due to their potential use as templates and scaffolds for the fabrication of nanostructured materials. The phase behavior in a thin film geometry that confines polymer chains to the interfaces will be influenced by the interfacial interactions at substrate/polymer and polymer/air and the commensurability between the equilibrium period (L0) of the BCP and the total film thickness. We investigated the phase transitions for the films of block copolymers (BCPs) on the modified surface, like the order-to-disorder transition (ODT) by in-situ grazing incidence small angle x-ray scattering (GISAXS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The selective interactions on the surface by a PS-grafted substrate provide the preferential interactions with the PS component of the block, while a random copolymer (PS-r-PMMA) grafted substrate do the balanced interfacial interactions on the surface. The thickness dependence of order-to-disorder behavior for BCP films will be discussed in terms of the surface interactions.

Irradiation-induced BCC-phase formation and magnetism in a 316 austenitic stainless steel

  • Specimens of austenitic stainless steel were irradiated with 6 MeV Xe ions to two doses of 7 and 15 dpa at room temperature and 300 ℃ respectively. Then partial irradiated specimens were subsequently thermally annealed at 550 ℃. Irradiation-induced BCC-phase formation and magnetism were analyzed by grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXRD) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). It has been shown that irradiation damage level, irradiation temperature and annealing temperature have significant effect on BCC-phase formation. This BCC-phase changes the magnetic behavior of austenitic stainless steel. The stress relief and compositional changes in matrix are the driving forces for BCC-phase formation in austenitic stainless steel during ion irradiation.
