This study evaluated and compared the donor site morbidity following minimally invasive and conventional open harvesting of iliac bone for secondary alveolar bone grafting in cleft palate patients. A thorough electronic search of PubMed, Google Scholar, EMBASE, and an institutional library and manual search of various journals was done; Inclusion criteria: 1) full-text articles using a minimally invasive or conventional open harvesting technique for iliac bone for secondary alveolar grafting in cleft palate patients and 2) articles published between January 1, 2001 and June 30, 2017 and Exclusion criteria: 1) articles published in languages other than English, 2) case reports, case series, animal studies, in vitro studies, and letters to the editor, and 3) full-text article unavailable even after writing to the authors. Preliminary screening of 274 studies excluded 223 studies for not meeting the eligibility criteria. Of the remaining 51 studies, 19 were removed for being duplicates. Of the remaining 32 studies, 15 were excluded after reading the abstract. Of the 17 studies that were left, 2 were excluded because they were in a language other than English, and 2 were excluded because the study group did not mention cleft palate patients. Thus, 13 studies providing results for a total of 654 patients were included in this qualitative synthesis. Minimally invasive bone graft harvest techniques are better than the conventional open iliac bone harvest method because they offer shorter operative time, decreased requirement for pain medications, less pain on discharge, and a shorter hospital stay.
Acrylic acid was graft-copolymerized on polyethylene film in the presence of additives such as acid and $FeSO_4(NH_4)_2SO_4{\cdot}6H_2O$ using peroxide grafting technique by ${\gamma}$-ray and electron beam, and the effect of $FeSO_4(NH_4)_2SO_4{\cdot}6H_2O$ and acid on the grafting yield was evaluated. The grafting mechanism and the physical property of grafted films were also examined. The results showed that the inclusion of $FeSO_4(NH_4)_2SO_4{\cdot}6H_2O$ in acidified acrylic acid grafting solution was extremely beneficial and led to a most unusual enhancement effect in the radiation grafting. In the other hand, inclusion of mineral acid in the grafting solution in the absence of $FeSO_4(NH_4)_2SO_4{\cdot}6H_2O$ could not lead to he suitable grafting reaction by the severe homopolymerization of acrylic acid. The addition of $H_2SO_4$, and HCl led to much higher grafting yield than $HNO_3$and $CH_3COOH$. It was shown that grafting yield of ${\gamma}$-ray irradiated-polyethylene was higher than that of electron beam irradiated polyethylene.
Cellulose grafted with acrylic acid(AAc) was prepared by radiation grafting technique. The effects of reaction temperature. reaction time, monomer concentration, and the crosslinkers on the AAc grafting reaction on cellulose were examined. The amount of AAc grafted on the cellulose reached maximum at the concentration of 0.75vol% difunctional crosslinker and 1.0vol% trifunctional crosslinker, respectively. In the presence of acid, the amount of AAc grafted on the cellulose was decreased when reaction solution contains difunctional crosslinker, while that was increased when reaction solution contains trifunctional crosslinker. In the grafting reaction of cellulose with AAc and TMETA, mixture containing ferrous sulfate and acid enhanced further AAc grafting yield than mixture containing ferrous sulfate only.
Natural rubber(NR)-polyacrylamide(PAAm) graft copolymers(GP)(toluene soluble GP : TSGP, water dispersible GP : WDGP) have been synthesized as coupling agents by pre-emulsification methods based on "inverse emulsion graft polymerization" technique. The polymerization was carried out at $65^{\circ}C$ using Azobisisobytyro nitrile(AIBN) as an initiator in the inverse emulsion system formed by inxing NR toluene solution with inverse emulsion of awueous AAm solution emulsified with $Tween^{\#}$ 80 in toluene. The mechanism of inverse emulsion graft copolymerization was studied on AAm conversion, % grafting, grafting efficiency, NR conversion, production ratio of TSGP and amount of GP(sum of TSGP and WDGP). The reaction has been confirmed through use of optical microscope to proceed via adsorption of emulsifier colloid particles onto the stretched NR molecule. From the analysis of the effects of various polymerization conditions on the grafting, it has also been found that the present rection system can easily yield high(over 90%) grafting efficiency and AAm conversion and relatively high(over 80%) NR conversion.onversion.

This study was conducted to improve the performance of automatic grafting robot using image recognition technique. The stem diameters of tomatoes and cucumber at the time of grafting were $2.5{\pm}0.3mm$ and $2.2{\pm}0.2mm$ for scions and $3.1{\pm}0.7mm$ and $3.6{\pm}0.3mm$ for rootstocks, respectively. The grafting failure was occurred when the different height between scions and rootstocks were over 4 mm and below 2 mm due to the small contact area of both cutting surface. Therefore, it was found that the height difference at the cutting surface of 3 mm is appropriate. This study also found that grafting failure was occurred when the stem diameters of both scions and rootstocks were thin. Therefore, it was suggested to use at least one stem with thicker than the average stem diameter. Field survey on the cutting angle of stems by hand were ranged from 13 to 55 degree for scions and 15 to 67 degree for rootstocks, respectively, which indicates that this could cause the grafting failure problem. However, the automatic grafting robot developed in this study rotates the seedlings 90 degree and then the stems are cut using a cutting blade. The control part of robot use all images taken from grafting process to determine the distance between a center of both ends of stem and a gripper center and then control the rotation angle of a gripper. Overall, this study found that The performance of automatic grafting robot using image recognition technique was superior with the grafting success rates of cucumber and tomato as $96{\pm}3.2%$ and $95{\pm}4%$, respectively.

Background Skin defects in the hands are common injuries, and autologous skin grafting is the ideal treatment. However, complications can occur at the donor and recipient sites. This study compares the "Swing-door" technique with conventional skin grafting. Methods From August 2019 to February 2023, 19 patients with skin defects of hand underwent the "Swing-door" split-thickness skin graft (STSG) technique. The thin epithelial layer was elevated with proximal part attached. Skin graft was harvested beneath. Donor site was then closed with epithelial flap like a "Swing-door". The outcomes were evaluated in terms of healing time, scar formation, and pain at the donor and recipient sites. The data were compared with the conventional STSG. Results The "Swing-door" group had lower graft take percentages, but complications did not significantly differ between the two groups. The "Swing-door" technique resulted in better cosmetic outcomes, as evidenced by lower Vancouver Scar Scale scores, faster donor site epithelialization, and reduced pain and discomfort during the early postoperative period, as measured by Visual Analog Scale. Conclusion The "Swing-door" STSG is a useful alternative for treating hand skin defects.

The expanding technique of the Stochastic Finite Element Method(SFEM) is proposed in this paper for adapting direct integration methods in stochastical dynamic analysis of structures. Grafting the direct integration methods and the SFEM together, one can deal with nonlinear structures and nonstationary process problems without any restriction. The stochastical central diffrence and stochastic Houbolt methods are introduced to show the expanding technique, and their adaptabilities are discussed. Results computed by the proposed method (the Stochastic Finite Element Method in Dynamics: SFEMD) for two degree-of-free- dom system are compared with those obtained by Monte Carlo Simulation.
Background Temporal hollowing is inevitable after decompressive craniectomy. This complication affects self-perception and quality of life, and various techniques and materials have therefore been used to restore patients' confidence. Autologous fat grafting in postoperative scar tissue has been considered challenging because of the hostile tissue environment. However, in this study, we demonstrate that autologous fat grafting can be a simple and safe treatment of choice, even for postoperative depressed temporal scar tissue. Methods Autologous fat grafting was performed in 13 patients from 2011 to 2016. Fat was harvested according to Coleman's strategy, using a tumescent technique. Patient-reported outcomes were collected preoperatively and at 1-month and 1-year follow-ups. Photographs were taken at each visit. Results The thighs were the donor site in all cases for the first procedure. The median final volume of harvested fat was 29.4 mL (interquartile range [IQR], 24.0-32.8 mL). The median final volume of fat transferred into the temporal area was 4.9 mL on the right side (IQR, 2.5-7.1 mL) and 4.6 mL on the left side (IQR, 3.7-5.9 mL). There were no major complications. The patient-reported outcomes showed significantly improved self-perceptions at 1 month and at 1 year. Conclusions Despite concerns about the survival of grafted fat in scar tissue, we advise autologous fat grafting for patients with temporal hollowing resulting from a previous craniectomy.
The grafting of acrylic acid in aqueous solution to polyvinyl chloride fibers tab been studied in the presence of ferrous, ferric, and cupric salts, The mutual irradiation technique was adopted using a Co-60 source or a Van do Graaff accelerator. The grafting and homopolymerization were suppressed by the cations. Particularly the grafting was suppressed by the cations in the following order of effectiveness : $Cu^{2+}$>$Fe^{2+}$>$Cu^{3+}$. The rate of grafting (in %/hr) was proportional to the 0.76th power of the dose rate over the range from 8.5f $10^3$ rad/hr to $1.4\times10^5$ rad/dr. The apparent activation energy for the grafting was determined to be 6.1 Kcal/mole between $25^{\circ}$ and $75^{\circ}C$ for the mixture of AA-HaO-$(CH_2Cl)_2$, containing Mohr's salt, $4\times10^{-3}$ mole/l. The increase of the grafting was observed when total dose and dose intensity were raised, or when ethylene dichloride as a swelling agent was saturated in the monomer mixture. The grafted polyvinyl chloride fibers showed considerable improvement in moisture regain, heat shrinkage, and melting properties, but tensile properties were not significantly affected by grafting.
