  • This study examines the possible differences in satisfaction level according to the attributes classified as product, price, and service among women apparel consumers with the experience of buying global and domestic SPA brands. Data were collected through a survey of 270 women consumers aged 20s and with SPSS 15.0. The results are as follows: The exploration of the difference in product, price, and service attributes between the global and domestic SPA brands revealed that for product attributes, domestic brands scored higher in management quality, while global brands scored higher in design. In addition, for price attributes, domestic brands scored higher in promotion, while global brands scored higher in price value. When it comes to service attributes, only in regards to store policy was there a significant difference, with the score of global brands higher than domestic brands. The analysis of the difference in shopping orientation on domestic SPA brands showed significant difference only in customer convenience for the category of service attributes, while on global SPA brands, there were significant differences of the design for product attributes, promotion for price attributes, and customer convenience for service attributes.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the fashion lifestyle variable of global consumers and to compare among US, Chinese and EU consumers. The data were collected in US(n=749), China(n=702) and EU(n=1083) from 2008 to 2010. For analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, K-means cluster analysis and chi-square analysis of SPSS 18.0 are used. The research results are as follow: First, it is shown that significant lifestyle factors of global fashion consumers are "adventure seeking", "fashion-oriented", "conspicuous consumption", "leadership", "brand-oriented", and "DIY". As a result of the cluster analysis of lifestyle types, four cross-national market segments are identified. These segments can be labeled as follows: "conservative fashion-oriented group", "passive consumer group", "neutral consumer group", "active fashion-oriented group". Second, findings also reveal that fashion lifestyle segments had meaningful differences between nationality and by year. Third, the US consumers tended to have conservative fashion-oriented lifestyle in 2008, however global consumers were changed to have active fashion lifestyle in 2010. This research will be useful to global brands in planning marketing strategies by offering specific information for global consumer fashion lifestyle.

  • The total solar irradiation on horizontal surfaces is separated into the beam and diffuses components. Although horizontal global irradiance is a commonly measured parameter for many sites, horizontal diffuse irradiance is not so readily obtainable. For such sites that measure global irradiation alone, a simple but reasonably accurate method is required to estimate diffuse irradiance from its global counterpart. This study investigates the applicability of correlation coefficients models correlating hourly diffuse and beam fraction and hourly clearness index in Daejeon. The three diffuse to global correlation coefficients models (Orgill and Holland model, CIBSE Guide J model, and Erbs et al. model) are selected and the three modified beam to global correlation coefficients models are generated. MBE, RMSE, r-squared of Daejeon and Daejeon boundary site-fitted models are compared with the case of original coefficients. The comparison result shows that the beam and diffuse to global solar irradiation correlation coefficients models with boundary site-fitted coefficients are best suitable for Daejeon. Further researches will be conducted to find the boundary site-fitting method using measured data of other cities and correlation coefficients models using solar altitude, cloud cover, and sunshine duration.

  • Purpose: The paper analyzes for detecting unexpected shocks such as global financial crisis and COVID-19 pandemic, and contagion between countries by capturing in the mean-shift, variance-covariance-shift, and skewness-coskewness-shift parameters of interest rates. Research design, data and methodology: A flexible multivariate model of interest rates is provided by allowing for regime switching and a joint skewed normal distribution. The model is applying to the structural breaks of crisis and contagion between the US and the selected global bond markets during the global financial crisis and COVID-19 pandemic, respectively. Inspection of the moment statistics weakly suggests a flight to safety to the US during the global financial crisis and to Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: The results indicate that risk averse investors had a higher risk appetite for the US and Canada assets during the crisis regimes, compared to their counterparts. Conclusions: The results show that coskewness contagion dominates correlation contagion, and coskewness contagion is significant for the Korea and Japan-US pairs for the global financial crisis and the Euro-US pair for the COVID-19 pandemic. All channels of structural breaks of crisis and contagion are significant when considered jointly, reinforcing the need to consider contagion and structural breaks during crises in a multivariate setting.

  • The ozone concentration measured by HALOE (Ver 19) from Oct. 1991 to Dec. 2003 is used for analyzing the variation of ozone concentration. The HALOE loaded in UARS is observing several gases in the atmosphere, from 10km to 80km. Fourier analysis of these data in the middle latitude northern hemisphere is reported in this paper. To detect any possible long term trends, the fourier transformed time series was back transformed after removing signals with time periods of less than 6 months. Although the results clearly show the strong annual cycle, it is difficult to show any long term trends from the fourier series. We also compared the ozone volume mixing ratio's from HALOE with that from the ground-based radiometry to evaluate the accuracy of microwave observation at Sookmyung Women's University.

  • The distribution and changes of tropospheric nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$) are analyzed using the satellite measurements data from GOME (Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment) and SCIMACHY (SCanning Imaging Absorption spectroMeter for Atmospheric CHartographY). We produced global maps of tropospheric $NO_2$ for 4 seasons using GOME measurements from January 1997 to June 2003. The global distribution shows high values in regions with dense population and high industrialization. Tropospheric $NO_2$ shows obvious seasonal changes depending on its emission and lifetime. Based on the good agreement between two instruments in the time period of overlapping measurements (January 2003-June2003), we linked SClAMACHY data to the GOME time series. The combined time series over the past decade indicate that $NO_2$ 1evels over China are rapidly increasing while those over Europe are decreasing. We also discussed potential application of spaceborne instruments in detecting and characterizing long-distance transport of $NO_2$.

  • We consider the global existence of strong solutions of the 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a bounded Lipschitz do-main under Dirichlet boundary condition. We present by a very simple argument that a strong solution exists globally when the product of $L^2$ norms of the initial velocity and the gradient of the initial velocity and $L^{p,2}$, $p{\geq}4$ norm of the forcing function are small enough. Our condition is scale invariant and implies many typical known global existence results for small initial data including the sharp dependence of the bound on the volumn of the domain and viscosity. We also present a similar result in the whole domain with slightly stronger condition for the forcing.

  • Radiation data are the best source of information for estimating average incident radiation. Lacking this or data from nearby locations of similar climate, it is possible to use empirical relation ships to estimate radiation from days of cloudiness. It is necessary to estimate the regression coefficients in order to predict the daily global radiation on a horizontal surface. There fore many different equations have proposed to evaluate them for certain areas. In this work a new correlation has been made to predict the solar radiation for 16 different areas over Korea by estimating the regression coefficients taking into account cloud cover. Particularly, the straight line regression model proposed shows reliable results for estimating the global radiation on a horizontal surface with monthly average deviation of -0.26 to +0.53% and each station annual average deviation of -1.61 to +1.7% from measured values.

  • The paper describes the construction of global function approximation models for use in design optimization via global search techniques such as genetic algorithms. Two different approximation methods referred to as evolutionary fuzzy modeling (EFM) and neuro-fuzzy modeling (NFM) are implemented in the context of global approximate optimization. EFM and NFM are based on soft computing paradigms utilizing fuzzy systems, neural networks and evolutionary computing techniques. Such approximation methods may have their promising characteristics in a case where the training data is not sufficiently provided or uncertain information may be included in design process. Fuzzy inference system is the central system for of identifying the input/output relationship in both methods. The paper introduces the general procedures including fuzzy rule generation, membership function selection and inference process for EFM and NFM, and presents their generalization capabilities in terms of a number of fuzzy rules and training data with application to a three-bar truss optimization.
