과학실험수업에 대한 초등과학영재들의 인식분석 (Analysis of Science Gifted Elementary Students' Perceptions about Laboratory-based Science Learning)

  • The purpose of this study was investigated the perceptions and expectations of science gifted elementary students in the laboratory-based science learning. For the purpose of this study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 science gifted elementary students in J city. The question of the interview is constructed with perception and expectation of science gifted elementary students in divided with 4steps of understanding of lesson object, planning experiment, performing experiment and drawing conclusion in laboratory-based science learning and an attitude for science. The interview is progressed per individual and all the content of the interview is recorded. The result of this research is as follows. The science gifted elementary students have a wish for building an assumption and expectation and planning an experiment with discussion more than following the textbook and teacher present. In the step of the experiment, they wanted general more discussion of their own activities rather than teacher's instruction and they wanted teacher's instruction and they wanted teacher's mediation conflicts within small groups and comments for students' experiment results. The science gifted elementary students wish to open a science lab, which man who likes science can go and come freely and to study with friends who have a same interest to make a theme. And from top to bottom they want to test autonomous and ask to salute like a representative experiment of teacher. And they ask to have a chance to test individually and want to see a movie related to an experiment before doing an experiment. Like this, it presents that the scientifically gifted elementary students want to do an experiment what they can, want to have a class which can plan and can do an experiment by themselves through discussion with the unit more than following explanation of a teacher and a textbook without condition.

융합 수업 프로그램에서 나타나는 초등 수학 영재들의 수학적 창의성과 컴퓨팅 사고 분석 (An Analysis on the Mathematical Creativity and Computational Thinking of Elementary School Mathematical Gifted Students in the Convergence Class Programs)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the mathematical creativity and computational thinking of mathematically gifted elementary students through a convergence class using programming and to identify what it means to provide the convergence class using Python for the mathematical creativity and computational thinking of mathematically gifted elementary students. To this end, the content of the nine sessions of the Python-applied convergence programs were developed, exploratory and heuristic case study was conducted to observe and analyze the mathematical creativity and computational thinking of mathematically gifted elementary students. The subject of this study was a single group of sixteen students from the mathematics and science gifted class, and the content of the nine sessions of the Python convergence class was recorded on their tablets. Additional data was collected through audio recording, observation. In fact, in order to solve a given problem creatively, students not only naturally organized and formalized existing mathematical concepts, mathematical symbols, and programming instructions, but also showed divergent thinking to solve problems flexibly from various perspectives. In addition, students experienced abstraction, iterative thinking, and critical thinking through activities to remove unnecessary elements, extract key elements, analyze mathematical concepts, and decompose problems into small components, and math gifted students showed a sense of achievement and challenge.

포화 용액 개념에 대해 초등학교 교사와 일반 학생 및 과학영재 학생들이 만든 비유의 특성 비교 (Comparison of Characteristics of Analogies on Saturated Solution Generated by Elementary School Teachers, General and Science-Gifted Students)

  • In this study, the analogies on saturated solution generated by elementary school teachers were analyzed in their numbers, materials, and types aspects. The results were also compared with those of general and science-gifted elementary students. A test on the self-generating analogies on the target concept was administered to 111 elementary school teachers, 60 fifth graders at four science-gifted education institutes and 91 fifth graders at three elementary schools. The results revealed that the teachers made more analogies than the general and science-gifted students. In general, both the teachers and the students tended to make the analogies using the materials in family, riding, digestive, and school situations. However, there were a little difference between the teachers and the students in the cases of the analogies using other situations including body/physical activity. Similarly to the cases of the students, the teachers made more functional analogies than structural or structural/functional ones and did more concrete ones than abstract ones. However, they made more verbal, artificial, and enriched analogies than the students. They also made more highly systematic analogies than the general students, and did less ones than the science-gifted students. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

초등수학영재와 일반학생의 가족체계와 진로태도성숙에 대한 관계 분석 (The Relationship between Family System and Career Attitude Maturity of Mathematically Gifted and Non-Gifted Elementary Students)

  • 본 연구는 초등수학영재와 일반학생의 가족체계와 진로태도성숙에 대한 관계 분석을 통하여 초등수학영재와 일반학생의 진로발달에 대한 이해를 돕고 진로교육에 도움을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 G교육청 산하 초등수학영재 145명과 일반학생 167명을 연구대상으로 선정하여 가족체계 및 진도태도성숙에 대해 지필검사를 실시하고 이를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 초등수학영재는 가족체계와 진로태도성숙 모두에서 일반학생보다 높은 점수를 나타냈으며, 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 또한 전체학생의 가족체계와 진로태도성숙의 하위요소별 관계에서는 가족적응성과 목적성은 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났으나 나머지 요소들 사이에서는 모두 유의미한 정적상관관계를 보였다. 특히 초등수학영재는 가족응집성에서 일반학생보다 진로태도성숙과 높은 정적상관관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 초등수학영재 및 일반학생 모두에게 가족체계는 진로태도성숙에 많은 영향을 미친다고 볼 수 있으므로 초등수학영재뿐만 아니라 일반학생의 진로지도를 하는 경우 가족체계의 요인들을 고려할 필요가 있음을 알 수 있다.

초등과학 영재학급 학생과 일반학급 학생의 과학 학습정서와 과학적 상상력 비교 (Comparison of Science Academic Emotion and Scientific Imagination of Students between a Science Gifted Class and a General Class in Elementary School)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze science academic emotion and scientific imagination of students between a science gifted class and a general class in elementary school. Samples of this study were composed of 212 fifth and sixth graders in Gyeonggi province. The results of this study were as follows. First, positive scientific academic emotion of students in a science gifted class was higher than that of general class. Second, boredom and laziness of negative scientific academic emotion were higher scores in general students, whereas, angry area was higher scores of students in a science gifted class. Third, scientific imagination of students in a science gifted class was higher than that of general class. Fourth, both groups had a positive correlation between scientific imagination and positive science academic emotion. Especially, interest area of positive scientific academic emotion in both of the two groups influenced scientific imagination.

초등수학영재와 일반학생의 패턴의 유형에 따른 일반화 방법 비교 (A Comparison between Methods of Generalization according to the Types of Pattern of Mathematically Gifted Students and Non-gifted Students in Elementary School)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 초등수학영재와 일반학생들의 대수에서의 패턴 일반화 방법은 어떠한지 알아보고, 패턴을 일반화하는 과정에서 나타나는 오류를 조사하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 초등학교 6학년 수학영재 78명과 일반학생 78명을 대상으로 증가패턴인 x+a, ax, ax+c, $ax^2$, $ax^2+c$, $a^x$ 형태의 6개 문항으로 이루어진 검사지를 활용하여 조사하였다. 연구 결과에 의하면 두 집단 모두 ax 유형에서 상징적 일반화를 가장 잘 하였고, $a^x$ 유형은 상징적 일반화를 한 학생이 가장 적었다. 또 시각적인 패턴으로 도형이 등장하는 경우 도형 하나하나가 개수로서의 의미라면 문제를 이해하는 데 큰 혼란이 없지만, 도형의 변이나 둘레 등 구성 요소의 의미를 파악해야 하는 문제라면 혼란을 겪는 것으로 나타났다. 학생들이 흔히 범하는 오류의 유형에서는 처리 기술의 오류가 초등수학영재(10.9%)와 일반학생(17.1%) 모두에서 가장 높게 나타났다.

과학수사 프로그램이 초등 영재의 과학 창의적 문제해결력에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Forensic Science Program on Scientific Creative Problem-Solving Abilities of Gifted Students in Elementary School)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop forensic science program for the improvement of scientific creative problem-solving abilities in gifted elementary-school students. A program that consists of six sessions (18 hours) is developed in accordance with the CPS model, which has been already proven effective for the improvement of creative problem-solving abilities. This program was applied to sixth-grade 18 gifted students in an elementary school in Gyeonggi province. Examinations of scientific creative problem-solving abilities were performed before and after applying the program in order to determine its effect on gifted elementary students. A qualitative analysis of students' activity sheets, peer assessment and teacher's class journal was made in order to examine the process of improvement of students' scientific creative problem-solving abilities. The results of this study are as follows: First, forensic science program to enhance the scientific creative problem-solving abilities of gifted students was developed. Second, forensic science program is significantly effective in the improvement of scientific creative problem-solving abilities of gifted children of elementary school (p<.05). Third, in early stage of the class, a student, who showed the highest range of change in pre and post tests, revealed the trend of responding in a short answer type. In the late stage of the class, he revealed the capability of producing various creative ideas promptly. On the other hand, students belonging to the upper group of both pre and post test revealed the improvement of divergent thinking skills such as fluency, flexibility, and originality. Fourth, after class, the students responded that the forensic science program developed in this study intrigued the interests and curiosities, and helped them break away from fixed ideas.

초등정보영재 대상의 앱 인벤터 프로그래밍 교육의 효과 (The Effects of Learning App Inventor Programming Education Plan for Gifted Elementary Students)

  • 초등정보영재교육에 있어서 최근에 강조되고 있는 사안 중 하나는 지식기반 사회를 이끌어갈 정보 분야에서의 창의적 인재의 육성에 있다. 이와 함께 학습자에게는 새롭게 제시되는 문제 상황들을 해결하기 위해 고차원적인 지적능력과 문제해결능력 신장이 더욱 요구되고 있다. 본 연구는 초등정보영재 학생들에게 적용 가능한 앱 인벤터 교육 프로그램을 개발 적용 후 초등정보영재 학생들의 문제해결력 및 자기효능감, 프로그래밍 성취도에 미치는 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 연구 목적 달성을 위하여 초등정보영재 학생들 수준에 적합한 앱 인벤터 교육 프로그램의 교육과정을 설계하였으며 설계한 프로그램을 렌줄리(Renzulli)의 심화학습 3단계 모형을 변형한 교수 학습 모형을 통해 적용하였다. 초등정보영재 20명을 대상으로 5주간 15차시에 걸쳐 교수 학습활동을 진행하였으며 그 결과 앱 인벤터를 활용한 프로그래밍 교육이 초등정보영재 학생들의 문제해결력, 자기효능감 향상에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 프로그래밍 개념과 알고리즘을 이해하는데 효과가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

그릿이 회복탄력성에 미치는 영향: 초등 과학영재와 일반학생의 다집단 분석 (The Effect of Grit on Resilience: Multigroup Analysis of Elementary Gifted and Non-Gifted Students in Science)

  • 본 연구는 초등 과학영재와 일반학생이 일상생활 속에서 경험하는 그릿이 그들의 회복탄력성에 미치는 영향에 대한 효과를 확인하고, 대학부설영재교육원·학교영재학급·일반학급의 교육기관별 집단 간 차이를 확인하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위하여 대학 영재교육원에 속한 초등학교 6학년 과학영재 학생과 인근 학교의 영재학급 및 일반학급 학생 총 252명을 선정하여 그릿, 회복탄력성 검사를 시행하였다. 기술통계분석, 측정모형분석, 다집단 구조모형분석을 실시한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 그릿의 꾸준한 노력과 회복탄력성의 모든 하위요인에서 일반학생보다 영재학생이 유의미하게 높은 수준을 보였다. 둘째, 그릿의 꾸준한 노력에서 회복탄력성에 이르는 경로는 정(+)적 영향을 보였으며 그릿 관심의 지속성에서 회복탄력성에 이르는 경로는 부(-)적 영향을 보였다. 셋째, 그릿이 회복탄력성에 미치는 영향에 대해 교육 기관별 집단 간의 차이를 파악하고자 다중집단분석을 시행한 결과 일반학급, 학교영재, 대학부설영재 모두 그릿의 꾸준한 노력 요인이 회복탄력성에 정(+)적 영향을 보였으며 그릿의 관심 지속성 요인은 일반학급과 학교영재학급에서 회복탄력성의 대인관계능력에 부(-)적 영향을 보였다. 넷째, 학교영재와 대학부설영재는 그릿의 꾸준한 노력에서 회복탄력성의 하위요인으로 가는 경로에서 일반학생과 비교하여 유의미한 차이를 보였다.

STEAM 프로그램이 초등영재학생의 과학적 의사소통능력과 학습몰입에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of STEAM Program on the Scientific Communication Skills and the Learning Flow of Elementary Gifted Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of STEAM program on the scientific communication skills and the learning flow of elementary gifted students. The main findings of this study are as follows: First, STEAM program that mathematical, technical, engineering and art factors were combined based on basic concepts of science were developed. Seconds, the change in the scientific communication skills of experimental group applying STEAM program had statistically meaningful difference (p<.05). Third, the flow of experimental class improved, but it had no meaningful difference statistically (p>.05). But it is expected that continuing level adjusted STEAM program might have positive effect on improving the flow with the following three reasons: 1) The gifted students' flow level on learning before experiment was rather too high to expect short term effect. 2) It was hard for them to achieve flow experience because topic difficulties and students' capacities were not balanced. 3) topic commitments and autotelic behaviors of gifted students were observed during classes. Fourth, by the result of the student satisfaction questionnaire survey on this program, students actively participated in the STEAM program with interest and curiosity. As achieved self-directed problem solving, versatile communication activities and success experiences, their class satisfaction was high. Based on such results, it was expected that the gifted class applied of STEAM program could enhance scientific communication capacity of the elementary gifted students and would further positively influence flow of learning as well. In addition, it was considered to have integrated approach value to elementary gifted and talented education in the aspect that it could satisfy various educational demands of gifted students.
