  • By acting on vanilloid receptor(VR1). capsaicin excites and then desensitizes a subset of primary neurons involved in nociception, neurogenic inflammation, and a variety of local regulatory functions. Due to this unique biological activity, VR1 is at present one of the most attractive targets for the treatment of pain. However, despite the concentrated effort on agonists, they have been exposed to the side effects such as pungency and/or hypothermia responses. (omitted)

  • The resistances to multiple antibiotics of strains of Gram-positive Staphylococci. methicillin-resistant Staphylo coccus aureus (MRSA), are now significant clinical problem. One of the major efforts of our laboratory has been the search and design and synthesis of novel lead compound for the purpose of obtaining highly potent anti-MRSA drug.   • 다목적실용위성2호 영상자료의 절대복사 보정계수 산출을 위하여 위성 통과시각에 맞추어 2007년 2월 3일 현장실험을 수행하였다. 측정기기로는 Spectroradiometer GER-3700을 사용하였으며, 관측 Target은 아스팔트, 흙, 콘크리트, 잔디, Tarp 53%로 각 Target의 복사량을 측정한 후 지표면 반사도로 변환하였다. 현장에서 관측된 지표면 반사도를 복사전달모델 MODTRAN의 압력 자료로 사용하여 대기권 밖에서 관측될 복사량을 모의할 수 있었다. 마지막으로, 모의된 각 Target의 복사량과 실제 위성 센서가 관측한 DN(Digital Number) 값의 관계식을 이용하여 절대복사 보정계수를 산출하였다. 본 연구 결과는 센서의 반옹도가 반영되지 않은 임시 결과이며, 추후 보다 많은 현장실험 결과를 추가하여 정확한 절대복사 보정계수를 산출할 계획이다.

  • This is a case report of a sliding hiatal hernia with severe gastroesophageal reflux(GER) after repair of congenital diaphragmatic hernia(CDH). It was not possible to determine whether the hiatal hernia is a de novo lesion which was missed at the original operation or a consequence of overzealous repair of the Bochdalek defect at the expense of weakening of the diaphragmatic crura. This case demonstrates that a sliding hiatal hernia can be a cause of severe gastroesophageal reflux that should be managed surgically.

  • On the positive real number, we obtain the Hyers-Ulam stability and a stability in the sense of R. Ger for the generalized beta function g(x+p,y+q) = ${\varphi}(x,y)g(x,y)$ in the following settings: $$\mid$g(x+p,y+q)-{\varphi}(x,y)g(x,y)$\mid${\leq}{\delta}$ and $$\mid$\frac{g(x+p,y+q)}{\varphi(x,y)g(x,y)}-1$\mid${\leq}{\psi}(x,y). As a consequence we obtain stability theorems for the gamma functional equation and the beta functional equation.

  • The purpose of this research is to extract spectral reflectance characteristics of concretes through basic experiment on concrete specimens and site experiment on actual concrete structures using a field portable spectrometer and a VNIR hyperspectral sensor. A spectrometer (GER-3700) and a VNIR hyperspectral camera (AisaEagle VNIR Hyperspectral Camera) were utilized for extracting spectral characteristics of concrete specimens. Concretes normally show similar patterns that have correlation above 80%, while the high-strengthened concretes display very different results from the normal-strength concretes. We also made a certain conclusion in the laboratory experiment on concrete specimens that both the spectrometer and the VNIR camera vary in spectral reflectance depending on concrete strengths.

  • Synthesis of an optically active azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane skeleton as a backbone of the tropane alkaloids has been achieved by employing intramolecular Mannich reaction. Utilizat ion of (R)-${\alpha}$-methylbenzylamine as a chiral auxiliary provided an excellent cyclization of amino dioxolane precursor. However, this auxiliary did not afford high asymmertic induction for the preparation of the optically active cyclization precursor.

  • An efficient Pictet-Spengler type reaction of N,O-acetal TMS ethers for the practical synthesis of 1-substituted tetrahydroquinolines, medicinally important alkaloids, has been accomplished. To demonstrate the versatility of this novel procedure, the total synthesis of calycotomine, a representative 1-hydroxymethyl substituted tetrahydroisoquinoline, is also described.
