  • Let G be a graph and k is a positive integer. Hammack and Livesay in [The inner power of a graph, Ars Math. Contemp., 3 (2010), no. 2, 193-199] introduced a new graph operation $G^{(k)}$, called the $k^{th}$ inner power of G. In this paper, it is proved that if G is bipartite then $G^{(2)}$ has exactly three components such that one of them is bipartite and two others are isomorphic. As a consequence the edge frustration index of $G^{(2)}$ is computed based on the same values as for the original graph G. We also compute the first and second Zagreb indices and coindices of $G^{(2)}$.

  • The objective was to develop herbicides for liquorice (Glycyrrhiza uralensis), one of most important ingredients of herbal medicine in Korea. Soil-applied herbicides, pendimethalin at 1,585 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$, simazine at 1,000 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$, alachlor at 5 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$, metolachlor at 1,600 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$, and ethalfluralin at 1,050 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$ provided greater control of hairy crabgrass and barnyardgrass (> 60%) but less control of Abutilon avicennae and Fagopyrum esculentum under growth chamber conditions. Of tested soil-applied herbicides, pendimethalin and simazine showed slight injury to liquorice (<17%). In the field experiment conducted in Chunchon, pendimethalin and simazine provided greater control of weeds: total fresh weight of weeds in control plots was 187 g $m^{-2}$, while those in both herbicides-treated plots were nil. Fresh weights of liquorice seedlings in pendimethalin- and simazine-applied plots, however, were not different from those in control plots. Foliar-applied herbicides, such as dicamba at 964 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$, 2,4-D at 280 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$, mecoprop at 2,500 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$, flazasulfuron at 75 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$, imazaquin at 800 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$, bentazon at 1,600 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$, and pyribenzoxim at 30 g a.i. $ha^{-1}$ reduced the growth of liquorice seedlings and provided moderate to total damage. Overall results show that pendimethalin and simazine appears to be effective herbicide candidates for liquorice.

  • A seamless handover between the 3G LTE and legacy 3G system is required for the smooth deployment of the 3G LTE system which is the next generation cellular network system. Especially on voice call handover, the service interruption time is very sensitive for user's satisfaction and therefore, a seamless voice call handover scheme is necessarily required. However, handover between the 3G LTE and the 3G CS system is hard to be achieved due to the lack of interface between two systems and the restriction of radio resource. In this paper, a new network entity called SCSE is proposed and inter-working between the 3G LTE and the 3G CS systems is enabled. Also contributed to the feature of the SCSE, the handover procedure is simplified and the service interruption time is minimized as a consequence. The evaluation result shows that the proposed SCSE scheme exclusively meets the service interruption time requirement which is smaller than 300 ms.

  • Background: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a major cause of severe lower respiratory tract diseases in infancy and early childhood. Despite its importance as a pathogen, there is no licensed vaccine against RSV yet. The attachment glycoprotein (G) of RSV is a potentially important target for protective antiviral immune responses. Recombinant baculovirus has been recently emerged as a new vaccine vector, since it has intrinsic immunostimulatory properties and good bio-safety profile. Methods: We have constructed a recombinant baculovirus-based RSV vaccine, Bac-RSV/G, displaying G glycoprotein, and evaluated immunogenicity and protective efficacy by intranasal immunization of BALB/c mice with Bac-RSV/G. Results: Bac-RSV/G efficiently provides protective immunity against RSV challenge. Strong serum IgG and mucosal IgA responses were induced by intranasal immunization with Bac-RSV/G. In addition to humoral immunity, G-specific Th17- as well as Th1-type T-cell responses were detected in the lungs of Bac-RSV/G-immune mice upon RSV challenge. Neither lung eosinophilia nor vaccine-induced weight loss was observed upon Bac-RSV/G immunization and subsequent RSV infection. Conclusion: Our data demonstrate that intranasal administration of baculovirus-based Bac-RSV/G vaccine is efficient for the induction of protection against RSV and represents a promising prophylactic vaccination regimen.

  • Let k be a positive integer, and let G be a simple graph with vertex set V (G). A Roman k-dominating function on G is a function f : V (G) $\rightarrow$ {0, 1, 2} such that every vertex u for which f(u) = 0 is adjacent to at least k vertices $\upsilon_1,\;\upsilon_2,\;{\ldots},\;\upsilon_k$ with $f(\upsilon_i)$ = 2 for i = 1, 2, $\ldot$, k. The weight of a Roman k-dominating function is the value f(V (G)) = $\sum_{u{\in}v(G)}$ f(u). The minimum weight of a Roman k-dominating function on a graph G is called the Roman k-domination number ${\gamma}_{kR}$(G) of G. Note that the Roman 1-domination number $\gamma_{1R}$(G) is the usual Roman domination number $\gamma_R$(G). In this paper, we investigate the properties of the Roman k-domination number. Some of our results extend these one given by Cockayne, Dreyer Jr., S. M. Hedetniemi, and S. T. Hedetniemi [2] in 2004 for the Roman domination number.

  • In this paper, we give a digital graph-theoretical approach of the study of digital images with relation to a simplicial complex. Thus, a digital graph $G_k$ with some k-adjacency in ${\mathbb{Z}}^n$ can be recognized by the simplicial complex spanned by $G_k$. Moreover, we demonstrate that a graphically $(k_0,\;k_1)$-continuous map $f:G_{k_0}{\subset}{\mathbb{Z}}^{n_0}{\rightarrow}G_{k_1}{\subset}{\mathbb{Z}}^{n_1}$ can be converted into the simplicial map $S(f):S(G_{k_0}){\rightarrow}S(G_{k_1})$ with relation to combinatorial topology. Finally, if $G_{k_0}$ is not $(k_0,\;3^{n_0}-1)$-homotopy equivalent to $SC^{n_0,4}_{3^{n_0}-1}$, a graphically $(k_0,\;k_1)$-continuous map (respectively a graphically $(k_0,\;k_1)$-isomorphisim) $f:G_{k_0}{\subset}{\mathbb{Z}}^{n_0}{\rightarrow}G_{k_1}{\subset}{\mathbb{Z}^{n_1}$ induces the group homomorphism (respectively the group isomorphisim) $S(f)_*:{\pi}_1(S(G_{k_0}),\;v_0){\rightarrow}{\pi}_1(S(G_{k_1}),\;f(v_0))$ in algebraic topology.

  • The current Private 5G use procedure goes through the step of application examination, use and usage inspection, and can be divided in to application, examination step as a procedure before frequency allocation, and use, usage inspection step as a procedure after frequency allocation. Various types of documents are required to apply for a Private 5G, and due to the document screening process and radio station inspection for using Private 5G frequencies, the procedure for Private 5G applicants to use Private 5G is complicated and takes a considerable amount of time. In this paper, we proposed Frequency Allocation Process for Private 5G using a blockchain platform, which is fast and simplified than the current procedure. Through the use of a blockchain platform and NFT (Non-Fungible Token), reliability and integrity of the data required in the frequency allocation process were secured, and security of frequency usage information was maintained and a reliable Private 5G frequency allocation process was established. Also by applying the RPA system that minimizes human intervention, fairness was secured in the process of allocating Private 5G. Finally, the frequency allocation process of Private 5G based on the Ethereum blockchain was performed though a simulation.

  • Given ${\sigma}:G{\rightarrow}G$ an involutive automorphism of a semigroup G, we study the solutions and stability of the following functional equations $$f(x{\sigma}(y))=f(x)g(y)+g(x)f(y),\;x,y{\in}G,\\f(x{\sigma}(y))=f(x)f(y)-g(x)g(y),\;x,y{\in}G$$ and $$f(x{\sigma}(y))=f(x)g(y)-g(x)f(y),\;x,y{\in}G$$, from the theory of trigonometric functional equations. (1) We determine the solutions when G is a semigroup generated by its squares. (2) We obtain the stability results for these equations, when G is an amenable group.

  • The minimum number of complete bipartite subgraphs needed to partition the edges of a graph G is denoted by b(G). A known lower bound on b(G) states that b(G) ≥ max{p(G), q(G)}, where p(G) and q(G) are the numbers of positive and negative eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of G, respectively. When equality is attained, G is said to be eigensharp and when b(G) = max{p(G), q(G)} + 1, G is called an almost eigensharp graph. In this paper, we investigate the eigensharpness and almost eigensharpness of lexicographic products of some graphs.
