  • This paper presents a design and implementation of fuzzy retrieval system that could support an associated learning in problem banks. It tries to retrieve some of the problems conceptually related to specific semantics described by user's queries. In particular, the problem retrieval system employs a fuzzy thesaurus which represents relationships between domain dependent vocabularies as fuzzy degrees. It would keep track of characteristics of the associated learning, which should guarantee high recall and acceptable precision for retrieval effectiveness. That is, since the thesaurus could make a vocabulary mismatch problem resolved among query terms and document index terms, this retrieval system could take a chance to effectively support user's associated teaming. Finally, we have evaluated whether the fuzzy retrieval system is appropriate for the associated teaming or not, by means of its precision and recall rate point of view.

  • Performance assessment was introduced to improve self-directed learning and method of assessment for differenced learning when the seventh educational curriculum was enforced. Written examinations often fail to properly assess students higher thinking abilities ad problem solving abilities. Performance assessment addresses this drawback and also allows normalization of class and school quality. However, performance assessment also has drawbacks that could lead to faulty assessment due to lack of fairness, reliability and validity of grading, ambiguity of grading standard etc. This study proposes a fuzzy performance assessment system to address the drawbacks of the conventional performance assessment. This paper presents in objective and reliable performance assesment method through fuzzy reasoning, design of fuzzy membership function. We define a fuzzy rule analyzing factor that influences in each sacred ground of performance assessment and accounts for the principle subject The proposed performance assessment method divides into three categories, namely, formation estimation subject estimation and design of membership function. Performance assessment result that is worked through fuzzy performance assessment system can reduce the burden of appraisal's fault and provide. We fair and reliable assessment results through grading that have correct standard mid consistency to students.

  • In this study, we introduce a identification methodology for FCM-based fuzzy model. The two underlying design mechanisms of such networks involve Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering method and Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO). The proposed algorithm is based on FCM clustering method for efficient processing of data and the optimization of model was carried out using PSO. The premise part of fuzzy rules does not construct as any fixed membership functions such as triangular, gaussian, ellipsoidal because we build up the premise part of fuzzy rules using FCM. As a result, the proposed model can lead to the compact architecture of network. In this study, as the consequence part of fuzzy rules, we are able to use four types of polynomials such as simplified, linear, quadratic, modified quadratic. In addition, a Weighted Least Square Estimation to estimate the coefficients of polynomials, which are the consequent parts of fuzzy model, can decouple each fuzzy rule from the other fuzzy rules. Therefore, a local learning capability and an interpretability of the proposed fuzzy model are improved. Also, the parameters of the proposed fuzzy model such as a fuzzification coefficient of FCM clustering, the number of clusters of FCM clustering, and the polynomial type of the consequent part of fuzzy rules are adjusted using PSO. The proposed model is illustrated with the use of Automobile Miles per Gallon(MPG) and Boston housing called Machine Learning dataset. A comparative analysis reveals that the proposed FCM-based fuzzy model exhibits higher accuracy and superb predictive capability in comparison to some previous models available in the literature.

  • In this paper we will discuss a type of inductive learning called learning from examples, whose task is to induce general description of concepts from specific instances of these concepts. In many real life situations, however, new instances can be added to the set of instances. It is first proposed within the framework of rough set theory, for such cases, an algorithm to find minimal set of rules for decision tables without recalculation for overcall set of instances. The method of learning presented here is base don a rough set concept proposed by Pawlak[2][11]. It is shown an algorithm to find minimal set of rules using reduct change theorems giving criteria for minimum recalculation with an illustrative example. Finally, the proposed learning algorithm is applied to fuzzy system to learn sampled I/O data.

  • In this paper, fuzzy-ARTMAP neural network is applied for compensating the nonlinearity of satellite communication channel. The fuzzy-ARTMAP is made of using fuzzy logic and ART neural network. By a match tracking process with vigilance parameter, fuzzy ARTMAP neural network achieves a minimax learning rule that minimizes predictive error and maximizes generalization. Thus, the system automatically learns a minimal number of recognition categories, or hidden units, to meet accuracy criteria. Simulation studies are performed over satellite nonlinear channels. The performance of proposed fuzzy-ARTMAP equalizer is compared with MLP-basis equalizers.

  • This paper describes fuzzy radial basis function networks(FRBFN) extracting fuzzy rules through the learning from training data set. The proposed FRBFN is derived from the functional equivalence between RBF networks and fuzzy inference systems. The FRBFN learn by assigning new fuzzy rules and updating the parameters of existing fuzzy rules. The parameters of the FRBFN are adjusted using the standard LMS algorithm. The performance of the FRBFN is illustrated with function approximation and system identification.

  • In this study, we introduce a new architecture of fuzzy inference system. In the fuzzy inference system, we use Fuzzy C-Means clustering algorithm to form the premise part of the rules. The membership functions standing in the premise part of fuzzy rules do not assume any explicit functional forms, but for any input the resulting activation levels of such radial basis functions directly depend upon the distance between data points by means of the Fuzzy C-Means clustering. As the consequent part of fuzzy rules of the fuzzy inference system (being the local model representing input output relation in the corresponding sub-space), four types of polynomial are considered, namely constant, linear, quadratic and modified quadratic. This offers a significant level of design flexibility as each rule could come with a different type of the local model in its consequence. Either the Least Square Estimator (LSE) or the weighted Least Square Estimator (WLSE)-based learning is exploited to estimate the coefficients of the consequent polynomial of fuzzy rules. In fuzzy modeling, complexity and interpretability (or simplicity) as well as accuracy of the obtained model are essential design criteria. The performance of the fuzzy inference system is directly affected by some parameters such as e.g., the fuzzification coefficient used in the FCM, the number of rules(clusters) and the order of polynomial in the consequent part of the rules. Accordingly we can obtain preferred model structure through an adjustment of such parameters of the fuzzy inference system. Moreover the comparative experimental study between WLSE and LSE is analyzed according to the change of the number of clusters(rules) as well as polynomial type. The superiority of the proposed model is illustrated and also demonstrated with the use of Automobile Miles per Gallon(MPG), Boston housing called Machine Learning dataset, and Mackey-glass time series dataset.

  • In this paper, we propose a variable weighted average (VWA) learning method in order to improve the performance of the fuzzy ART neural network that has been developed by Grossberg. In a conventional method, the Fast Commit Slow Recode (FCSR), when an input pattern falls in a category, the representative pattern of the category is updated at a fixed learning rate regardless of the degree of similarity of the input pattern. To resolve this issue, a variable learning method proposes reflecting the distance between the input pattern and the representative pattern to reduce the FCSR's category proliferation issue and improve the pattern recognition rate. However, these methods still suffer from the category proliferation issue and limited pattern recognition rate due to inevitable excessive learning created by use of fuzzy AND. The proposed method applies a weighted average learning scheme that reflects the distance between the input pattern and the representative pattern when updating the representative pattern of a category suppressing excessive learning for a representative pattern. Our simulation results show that the newly proposed variable weighted average learning method (VWA) mitigates the category proliferation problem of a fuzzy ART neural network by suppressing excessive learning of a representative pattern in a noisy environment and significantly improves the pattern recognition rates.

  • With the advancement of wireless technology and the rapid growth of the infrastructure of mobile communication technology, systems applying AI-based platforms are drawing attention from users. In particular, the system that understands users' tastes and interests and recommends preferred items is applied to advanced e-commerce customized services and smart homes. However, there is a problem that these recommendation systems are difficult to reflect in real time the preferences of various users for tastes and interests. In this research, we propose a Fuzzy-AHP-based movies recommendation system using the Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) language model to address a problem. In this system, we apply Fuzzy-AHP to reflect users' tastes or interests in real time. We also apply GRU language model-based models to analyze the public interest and the content of the film to recommend movies similar to the user's preferred factors. To validate the performance of this recommendation system, we measured the suitability of the learning model using scraping data used in the learning module, and measured the rate of learning performance by comparing the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) language model with the learning time per epoch. The results show that the average cross-validation index of the learning model in this work is suitable at 94.8% and that the learning performance rate outperforms the LSTM language model.
