  • In this paper, a new design methodology of the fuzzy controller is presented. The performance of the fuzzy controller is sensitive to the variety of scaling factors. The design procedure is based on evolutionary computing (more specifically, a genetic algorithm) and estimation algorithm to adjust and estimate scaling factors respectively. The tuning of the soiling factors of the fuzzy controller is essential to the entire optimization process. And then we estimate scaling factors of the fuzzy controller by means of two types of estimation algorithms such as HCM (Hard C-Means) and Neuro-Fuzzy model[7]. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed estimation algorithm for the fuzzy controller are demonstrated by the inverted pendulum system.

  • In this paper, an improved automated spectral clustering (IASC) algorithm is proposed to address the limitations of the traditional spectral clustering (TSC) algorithm, particularly its inability to automatically determine the number of clusters. Firstly, a cluster number evaluation factor based on the optimal clustering principle is proposed. By iterating through different k values, the value corresponding to the largest evaluation factor was selected as the first-rank number of clusters. Secondly, the IASC algorithm adopts a density-sensitive distance to measure the similarity between the sample points. This rendered a high similarity to the data distributed in the same high-density area. Thirdly, to improve clustering accuracy, the IASC algorithm uses the cosine angle classification method instead of K-means to classify the eigenvectors. Six algorithms-K-means, fuzzy C-means, TSC, EIGENGAP, DBSCAN, and density peak-were compared with the proposed algorithm on six datasets. The results show that the IASC algorithm not only automatically determines the number of clusters but also obtains better clustering accuracy on both synthetic and UCI datasets.

  • This paper describes ECG signal labeling based on Fuzzy clustering, which is necessary at automated ECG diagnosis. The NPPA(Non parametric partitioning algorithm) compares the correlations of wave forms, which tends to recognize the same wave forms as different when the wave forms have a little morphological variation. We propose to apply Fuzzy clustering to ECG QRS Complex labeling, which prevents the errors to mistake by using If-then comparision. The process is divided into two parts. The first part is a parameters extraction process from ECG signal, which is composed of filtering, QRS detection by mapping to a phase space by time delay coordinates and generation of characteristic vectors. The second is fuzzy clustering by FCM(Fuzzy c-means), which is composed of a clustering, an assessment of cluster validity and labeling.

  • Fuzzy clustering has been playing an important role in solving many problems. Fuzzy c-Means(FCM) algorithm is most frequently used for fuzzy clustering. But some fixed point of FCM algorithm, know as Tucker's counter example, is not a reasonable solution. Moreover, FCM algorithm is impossible to perform the on-line learning since it is basically a batch learning scheme. This paper presents unsupervised learning networks as an attempt to improve shortcomings of the conventional clustering algorithm. This model integrates optimization function of FCM algorithm into unsupervised learning networks. The learning rule of the proposed scheme is a result of formal derivation based on the gradient descent procedure of a fuzzy objective function. Using the result of formal derivation, two algorithms of fuzzy cluster analysis, the batch learning version and on-line learning version, are devised. They are tested on several data sets and compared with FCM. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithms find out the reasonable solution on Tucker's counter example.

  • This paper presents fuzzy clustering and wavelet transform analysis based technique for the industrial hourly load forecasting fur the purpose of peak demand control. Firstly, one year of historical load data were sorted and clustered into several groups using fuzzy clustering and then wavelet transform is adopted using the Biorthogonal mother wavelet in order to forecast the peak load of one hour ahead. The 5-level decomposition of the daily industrial load curve is implemented to consider the weather sensitive component of loads effectively. The wavelet coefficients associated with certain frequency and time localization is adjusted using the conventional multiple regression method and the components are reconstructed to predict the final loads through a five-scale synthesis technique. The outcome of the study clearly indicates that the proposed composite model of fuzzy clustering and wavelet transform approach can be used as an attractive and effective means for the industrial hourly peak load forecasting.

  • A hard-type centroids in the conventional clustering algorithm such as k-modes algorithm cannot keep the uncertainty inherently in data sets as long as possible before actual clustering(decision) are made. Therefore, we propose the k-populations algorithm to extend clustering ability and to heed the data characteristics. This k-population algorithm as found to give markedly better clustering results through various experiments.

  • We introduce a new architecture of TSK-based fuzzy inference system. The proposed model used fuzzy c-means clustering method(FCM) for efficient disposal of data. The premise part of fuzzy rules don't assume any membership function such as triangular, gaussian, ellipsoidal because we construct the premise part of fuzzy rules using FCM. As a result, we can reduce to architecture of model. In this paper, we are able to use four types of polynomials as consequence part of fuzzy rules such as simplified, linear, quadratic, modified quadratic. Weighed Least Square Estimator are used to estimates the coefficients of polynomial. The proposed model is evaluated with the use of Boston housing data called Machine Learning dataset.

  • In this paper, we propose a hybrid approach towards multiple kernels interval type-2 possibilistic fuzzy C-means(PFCM) based on interval type-2 possibilistic fuzzy c-means(IT2PFCM) and possibilistic fuzzy c-means using multiple kernels( PFCM-MK). In case of noisy data or overlapping cluster prototypes, fuzzy C-means gives poor performance in comparison to possibilistic fuzzy C-means(PFCM). Moreover, to address the uncertainty associated with fuzzifier parameter m, interval type-2 possibilistic fuzzy C-means(PFCM) is used. Most of the practical data available are complex and non-linearly separable. In such cases using Gaussian kernels proves helpful. Therefore, in order to overcome all these issues, we have integrated multiple kernels possibilistic fuzzy C-means(PFCM) into interval type-2 possibilistic fuzzy C-means(IT2PFCM) and propose the idea of multiple kernels based interval type-2 possibilistic fuzzy C-means(IT2PFCM-MK).
