  • A femtosecond-laser inscribed Yb:YAG surface channel waveguide (WG) laser with single-walled carbon nanotubes deposited on the top surface of the WG was passively Q-switched by evanescent field interaction. Q-switched operation of the 14-mm-long compact Yb:YAG WG laser was achieved near 1031 nm with two different pumping schemes (single- and double-pass pumping) with an output coupling transmission of 91%. The Q-switched pulse characteristics depending on the absorbed pump power were investigated for both pumping geometries and analyzed in detail based on theoretical modeling. The best performances (energy/pulse duration) for each configuration were 204.4 nJ/75 ns at a repetition rate of 1.87 MHz, and 201.1 nJ/81 ns at 1.75 MHz for single- and double-pass pumping, respectively.

  • In this paper, we present a spatial perturbation method to control the optical patterns in semiconductor microresonators in the far-field configuration. We propose a fast all-optical switch which operates at a low light level. The switching beam controls the behavior of output beams with strong intensities. The method has been applied successfully to different optical patterns such as rolls, squares, and hexagons.

  • This paper is the study on verification when there is a conflict fur degree of software completion. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an weight setting method and show the degree fur importance of each function to obtain the independence for verification. Eventually, we adapted the proposed contents to the specific verification event.

  • Given an $m{\in}\mathbb{N}$ and two vector spaces V and W, a function f : $V^m{\rightarrow}W$ is called multi-Jensen if it satisfies Jensen's equation in each variable separately. In this paper we unify these m Jensen equations to obtain a single functional equation for f and prove its stability in the sense of Hyers-Ulam, using the so-called direct method.

  • As one of the typical Chinese food, rice gruel endows rich culture images. Gruel-eating can be concluded to 6 aspects: the food fur the old, the food fur the weak and the ill, the food for good health and longevity, the food for the hermits and monks; the food far the poor, and the food for enjoyment. In a modem society, the health implication of gruel eating gives many inspirations to medical workers, nutritionist and food manufacturers. People expect the gruels make more contributions to a balanced, diversified, convenient and healthy modem diet.

  • To develop an effective geometric modeling is essential in order that precise mechanical properties and the geometrical properties of the 3-D braided composites can be estimated. RVE(representative volume element) was adopted fur geometrical modeling. RVE consisted of IC(inner unit cell), ISUC(interior surface unit cell) and ESUC(exterior surface unit cell). The whole geometrical model fur hybrid 3-D braided composites was developed.

  • The primary aim of this paper is to introduce and illustrate a radial basis function (RBF) modeling approach fur software module characterization, as an alternative to current techniques. The RBF model has been known to provide a rich analytical framework fur a broad class of so-called pattern recognition problems. Especially, it features both nonlinearity and linearity which in general are treated separately by its learning algorithm, leading to offer conceptual and computational advantages. Furthermore, our new modeling methodology fer determining model parameters has a sound mathematical basis and showed very interesting results in terms of model consistency as well as performance.

  • Liquefaction potential on the specific site of nuclear power plant is analyzed and reviewed. The layered site fur this study consists of silt and sand. Based on the limited available soil data, maximum shear strength at critical locations using Seed & Idriss method and computer program SHAKE is calculated, and liquefaction potential is reviewed. Seismic input motion used fur the assessment of liquefaction is the artificial time history compatible with the US NRC regulatory Guider .60. Assessment results of the liquefaction are validated by analyzing to the other typical soil fecundations which can show the effects of foundation depth and soil data.

  • Most unreinforced masonry buildings have a lot of structural faults under the lateral load. Therefore, considering the heavy damage of URM buildings caused by the earthquakes, it may be necessary for the effective seismic code and reinforcing method. This paper describes the research-in-progress on an experiment program fur the investigation of the relatively simple and reliable analytical model to estimate dynamic response of URM buildings and briefly reviews the concept of the reinforcement fur damaged URM buildings.
