The rate control is an essential component in video coding to provide better quality under given coding constraints, such as channel capacity, frame rates, etc. In general, source data cannot be described as a single distribution in a video coding, hence it can cause an exhaustive approximation problem. It drops a coding efficiency under weak channel environments, such as mobile communications. In this paper, we design a new quantization parameter decision model that is based on a rate-distortion function of generalized Gaussian distribution. In order to adaptively express various source data distribution, we decide a shape parameter by observing a ratio of samples, which have a small value. For experiment, the proposed algorithm is implemented into H.264/AVC video codec, and its performance is compared with that of MPEG-2 TM5, H.263 TMN8 rate control algorithm. As shown in simulation results, the proposed algorithm provides an improved quality rather than previous algorithms and generates the number of bits closed to the target bits.

In this paper, we analyze the hardware architecture of Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) decoder using Log Likelihood Ration-Belief Propagation (LLR-BP) decoding algorithm. Various design issues that affect the decoding performance and the hardware complexity are discussed and the tradeoffs between the hardware complexity and the performance are analyzed. The message data for passing error probability is quantized to 7 bits and among them the fractional part is 4 bits. To maintain the decoding performance, the integer and fractional parts for the intrinsic information is 2 bits and 4 bits respectively. We discuss the alternate implementation of $\Psi$(x) function using piecewise linear approximation. Also, we improve the hardware complexity and the decoding time by applying overlapped scheduling.

The aim of this study was to optimize S-tube shape of heat exchanger in term of reducing the size of tube bundle and improving the mechanical properties such as the thermal stress and resonance. The geometric parameters such as offset length, the straight distance between one end and other end of tube, the tube length in straight portion and fillet radius was assessed as a valid parameters. The structural analysis was performed to estimate the structural characteristics. Main effect analysis was performed to investigate the main effect for the various geometric parameters. The response surface methodology was employed to establish mathematical approximation models as a function of the geometric parameters of the S-tube. Also, The optimization was performed to optimize geometric parameters of S-tube using the regression equations and optimization tool. The optimized tube shape has been proposed. Those could be used in the heat exchanger design used in high temperature.

A two-dimensional Stokes flow past a vertical plate in a channel is analyzed. The vertical plate is located at the center of the channel, and plane Poiseuille flow exists far upstream and downstream of the vertical plate. The Stokes approximation is used, and the flow is investigated analytically using the method of eigenfunction expansion and the point collocation method. From the analysis, the stream function and pressure distribution are obtained, and the pressure and shear stress distributions on the plate and channel wall are calculated. The additional pressure drop induced by the vertical plate and the force exerted on it are calculated as functions of the length of the vertical plate. For a typical length of the vertical plate, the streamline pattern and pressure distribution are shown. In addition, numerical analysis of laminar flow with a small Reynolds number is carried out to analyze the effect of a small Reynolds number on the flow pattern.

The vertical roller mill is important for machine grinding and mixing various crude materials in the process of producing Portland cement. A vertical roller mill is subjected to cyclic bending stress because of the roller load. Because of the cyclic bending stress, only $4{\times}10^6-8{\times}10^6$ cycles are achieved instead of $4{\times}10^7$ cycles. The stress also causes fractures at the edge of grinding path of the outer roller. The expenses incurred in repairing the grinding path amounts to 30% of the total maintenance cost. Therefore, it is desirable to redesign the vertical roller mill in order to reduce the expenses incurred in repairing the roller. In this study, artificial neural networks (ANNs) were applied in order to solve the multiobjective optimization problem for vertical roller mills by using the function approximation ability of ANNs. To learn and generalize ANNs, the maximum and minimum stresses were estimated from the results of the finite-element analysis of a vertical roller mill. Thus, ANNs could be applied to solve the multiobjective optimization problem.
In this work, we proposed Proper etching algorithm for ultra-large scale integrated circuit device and simulated etching process using the proposed algorithm in the case of ICP (inductive coupled plasma) 〔1〕source. Until now, many algorithms for etching process simulation have been proposed such as Cell remove algorithm, String algorithm and Ray algorithm. These algorithms have several drawbacks due to analytic function; these algorithms are not appropriate for sub 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ device technologies which should deal with each ion. These algorithms could not present exactly straggle and interaction between Projectile ions and could not consider reflection effects due to interactions among next projectile ions, reflected ions and sputtering ions, simultaneously In order to apply ULSI process simulation, algorithm considering above mentioned interactions at the same time is needed. Proposed algorithm calculates interactions both in plasma source region and in target material region, and uses BCA (binary collision approximation4〕method when ion impact on target material surface. Proposed algorithm considers the interaction between source ions in sheath region (from Quartz region to substrate region). After the collision between target and ion, reflected ion collides next projectile ion or sputtered atoms. In ICP etching, because the main mechanism is sputtering, both SiO$_2$ and Si can be etched. Therefore, to obtain etching profiles, mask thickness and mask composition must be considered. Since we consider both SiO$_2$ etching and Si etching, it is possible to predict the thickness of SiO$_2$ for etching of ULSI.

This paper proposes and analyzes the MAC(Message Authentication Code) algorithm that is used for the transition integrity and the entity authentication of message. The MAC algorithm uses the DES algorithm which has 64-bit block and 56-bit key and we compare the security according to 64-bit and 32-bit length of MAC value. Moreover, we use the SEED algorithm which has 128-bit block and 128-bit key and compare the security according to 128-bit and 64-bit length of MAC value. We analyze the security the forgery attack according to length of message and length of MAC value. this paper, a coarse-to-fine optical flow detection method is proposed. Provided that optical flow gives reliable approximation to two-dimensional image motion, it can be used to recover the three-dimensional motion. but usually to get the reliable optical flows are difficult. The proposed algorithm uses Horn's algorithm (or detecting initial optical flow, then Thin Plate Spline is introduced to warp a image frame of the initial optical flow to the next image frame. The optical flow for the warped image frame is again used iteratively until the mean square error between two image sequence frames is lowered. The proposed method is experimented for the real moving Picture image sequence. The proposed algorithm gives dense optical flow vectors.

A Gompertz modeling, sigmoid in shape, is a widely used application for social science, natural science, engineering, and medical research to allow confident approximation and accurate analysis and has been applied to estimate an elderly population on aging of population. Due to the high toxicity of currently available drug delivery vehicles, various efforts have been made to reduce side-effects in clinical fields, but its application to preclinical and clinical studies is limited and there are some difficulties to optimize the parameters of Gompertz modeling applicable to preclinical studies. Therefore, in this study, we demonstrated the ability of sickle red blood cells loaded by hypotonic dialysis then photosensitized and light-activated ex vivo for controlled release and simultaneously optimized Gompertz function to evaluate controlled drug release properties of photosensitized sickle red blood cells to reduce pain-related treatments in cancer patients.

This paper proposes a new scheme to obtain enhanced 3D shape information rapidly for WLPSI(White Light Phase Shifting Interferometry). WLPSI is a convenient method to measure the height of the micro products. First we propose an effective method of limiting search interval for detecting the peak of the visibility function in order to obtain 3D shpae information rapidly. Second we propose an automatic base level decision method basad on image processing and a correction algorithm using the least square approximation method to overcome the global tilt problem of the conventional WLPSI algorithms. Third we propose an adaptive filtering method to remove the distortion known as bat-wing effect which appears near the step discontinuity. Experimental results show that the proposed overall technique is fast and provides more enhanced 3D shape information compared with the conventional WLPSI algorithms.
Fatigue reliability problems are nowadays actively considered in the design of mechanical components. Recently, Dimension Reduction Method using Kriging approximation (KDRM) was proposed by the authors to efficiently calculate statistical moments of the response function. This method, which is more tractable for its sensitivity-free nature and providing the response PDF in a few number of analyses, is adopted in this study for the reliability analysis. Before applying this method to the practical fatigue problems, accuracies are studied in terms of parameters of the KDRM through a number of numerical examples, from which best set of parameters are suggested. In the fatigue reliability problems, good number of experimental data are necessary to get the statistical distribution of the S-N parameters. The information, however, are not always available due to the limited expense and time. In this case, a family of curves with prediction interval, called P-S-N curve, is constructed from regression analysis. Using the KDRM, once a set of responses are available at the sample points at the mean, all the reliability analyses for each P-S-N curve can be efficiently studied without additional response evaluations. The method is applied to a spring design problem as an illustration of practical applications, in which reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) is conducted by employing stochastic response surface method which includes probabilistic constraints in itself. Resulting information is of great practical value and will be very helpful for making trade-off decision during the fatigue design.
