CDM Controller Incorporating Friction Compensation for Rotational Inverted Pendulum

  • A controller designed by CDM for a servo type system which is an augmented system constructed from a rotational inverted pendulum with an integrator added to its arm, is presented in this paper. In order to be able to apply the CDM concept, the augmented system must be linearized and converted into controllable canonical form. Then, the controller consisting of the state feedback gain matrix and an integral gain in the sense of CDM can be obtained. This shows that design procedure for the proposed controller is easy. The experimental results obtained from the rotational inverted pendulum controlled by the proposed controller show that the system response has no steady-state error, however, the oscillation amplitude of the arm angle is still significant. Therefore, in this paper, the friction compensation using Coulomb friction with stiction is also added to the controller. The oscillation amplitude of the arm angle that can be reduced remarkably is also shown in the experimental results.

마찰진자베어링(FPS) 면진시스템을 적용한 원전주제어실의 진동대 실험 (Experimental Study on Floor Isolation of Main Control Room of Nuclear Power Plant using FPS(Friction Pendulum System))

  • The seismic characteristics with Friction Pendulum System have been studied using a shaking table system. In this study, we made two kind of floor system (Type I, Type II) and several seismic tests with and without isolation system were conducted to evaluate floor isolation effectiveness of Friction Pendulum System. Both type have showed large reduction effectiveness in acceleration, response spectra but Type II have showed lower acceleration and lower first mode in response spectra, compared to type I. On the basis of test results and consideration of application, it is found that type II is more suitable for floor model of main control room of Nuclear Power Plant.

원추형 마찰진자베어링의 내진성능평가 (Seismic Performance Evaluation of a Cone-type Friction Pendulum Bearing System)

  • 본 연구에서는 중요 통신장비의 지진발생시 파손 및 성능저하를 방지하기 위하여 구조물로 전달되는 가속도를 조절할 수 있는 CFPBS(Cone-type Friction Pendulum Bearing System:원추형 마찰진자베어링)를 개발하고 내진성능을 검증하였다. CFPBS는 기존의 FPS(Friction Pendulum System)와 다르게 원추형으로 제작되었으며 보다 큰 마찰력을 얻기 위하여 마찰면에 패턴을 음각하였다. CFPBS의 고유성능을 파악하기 위하여 4개의 CFPBS가 하나의 개체를 이루도록 제작된 지진격리장치를 이용하여 자유진동시험을 수행하였다. 운동방정식으로부터 유도된 CFPBS의 이론식과 Newmark-${\beta}$ Method를 이용하여 내진성능을 검증하기위한 MATLAB7.0 기반의 동적 수치해석프로그램을 제작하였으며 CFPBS의 제작 시 원하는 성능을 발휘할 수 있도록 간략화된 CFPBS의 설계식을 제안하였다. 수치해석을 통한 CFPBS의 내진성능평가를 위하여 건축구조설계기준(KBC-2005)의 최대지진규모에 해당하는 인공지진파를 생성하고 검증하였다. El Centro NS(1940)와 Kobe NS(1995), 인공지진파 등을 사용하여 CFPBS의 상부질량과 경사각을 매개변수로 하는 수치해석을 수행하였다. 수치해석의 결과를 토대로 CFPBS의 내진성능을 평가하였으며 수치해석의 결과와 설계식을 이용하여 동일한 조건에서 얻어진 결과를 비교분석하였다.

병렬형 역진자와 비선형 $H_2$/H_{\infty}강인제어 (Robust Nonlinear $H_2$/$H_{\infty}$Control for a Parallel Inverted Pendulum)

  • A robust nonlinear $H_2$/$H_{\infty}$ control method for a parallel inverted pendulum with structured perturbation and dry friction is proposed. By the random input describing function techniques, the nonlinear dry friction is approximated into the quasi-linear system. Introducing the quadratic robustness theorem, the robust $H_2$/$H_{\infty}$ control system is constructed for the quasi-linear perturbed system. But it is difficult to design a controller due to the nonlinear correction term in Riccati equation. With some transformations on the Riccati equation containing nonlinear correction term, the design of the robust nonlinear controller can be done easily. Hence when the stiffness and mass of the parallel inverted pendulum vary in certain ranges, the proposed control scheme has the robustness for both the structured perturbation and dry friction. The results of computer simulation show the effectiveness of our proposed control method.

  • The main concept of base isolation system is to reduce the member forces by decreasing the earthquake forces transmitted to superstructure instead of the conventional techniques of strengthening the structural members. There are two important advantages in friction pendulum systems. The functions of carrying the vertical load and of providing horizontal stiffness are effectively separated. This results in a more stable system that eliminates the need of a fail-safe mechanism. Friction pendulum systems are less sensitive to variations in the frequency content of ground excitation and tend to limit the intensity of the farce imparted to the superstructure. This study investigates the friction coefficients on the FPS test specimens according to the velocity, bearing pressure and test waveform.

스프링 연결 병렬형 탄성 역진자의 비선형 $H_2/H_\infty/LTR$ 제어 (Nonlinear $H_2/H_\infty/LTR$ Control of the Parallel Flexible Inverted Pendulum Connected by a Spring)

  • In this paper, a nonlinear $H_2/H_\infty/LTR$ control for the flexible inverted pendulum of a parallel type with Coulomb friction is presented. The dynamic equation for this system is derived by the Hamilton's principle and assumed-mode method. This hard nonlinear system can be modeled by a the quasi-linear state space model using the REF method. It is shown that the $H_2/H_\infty$ control can be applied to the nonlinear controller design of the system having Coulomb frictions if the proper LTR conditions are satisfied. In order to present the usefulness of the suggested control method, the nonlinear $H_2/H_\infty/LTR$ controller is designed to control the Position of the end point of the flexible inverted pendulum that has Coulomb frictions present in actuator parts. The results are given via computer simulations.

  • In this paper, a kind of limit cycle of an inverted pendulum system is discussed. We propose a stabilization control law for such a limit cycle of an inverted pendulum system that the pendulum rotates periodically. Besides, the stabilization control law is extended so as to ensure not only stability of the limit cycle but also an L$_2$-gain disturbance attenuation in the presence of modeling error and viscosity friction.

  • 최근 지진에 대한 위험이 고취됨에 따라 내진설계에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 면진장치중 하나인 마찰 진자형 지진격리받침을 고강도 엔지니어링 플라스틱을 이용하여 슬라이더(spherical)를 적용하였다. 이는 다른 금속에 비해 가벼운 중량으로 운반, 설치 및 유지보수가 매우 용이하고, 기존의 금속부품 대비 내부식성이 매우 우수하다. 또한 특수 마찰재를 삽입하여 사용하므로 교체가 용이하여 마찰계수 조절이 가능하다는 장점을 입증하였지만 금속 소재 슬라이더 대비 장기 처짐에 대한 우려가 대두되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 개발된 마찰 진자형 지진격리받침으로 압축-전단시험, 반복피로시험 후 극한하중 재하시험을 실시하여 시험 후의 압축 및 전단특성 변화와 반복피로시험 후 극한하중 재하시 슬라이더의 변형 및 전단특성을 측정, 분석하여 슬라이더의 장기 처짐값을 측정하였고 그 처짐값이 사용 설계 허용범위 내에 있는지를 입증하였다.

Site-response effects on RC buildings isolated by triple concave friction pendulum bearings

  • The main object of this study is to evaluate the seismic response effects on a reinforced concrete building isolated by triple concave friction pendulum (TCFP) bearings. The site-response effects arise from the difference in the local soil conditions at the support points of the buildings. The local soil conditions are, therefore, considered as soft, medium and firm; separately. The results on the responses of the isolated building are compared with those of the non-isolated. The building model used in the time history analysis, which is a two-dimensional and eight-storey reinforced concrete building with and without the seismic isolation bearings and/or the local soil conditions, is composed of two-dimensional moment resisting frames for superstructure and of plane elements featuring plane-stress for substructure. The TCFP bearings for isolating the building are modelled as of a series arrangement of the three single concave friction pendulum (SCFP) bearings. In order to investigate the efficiency of both the seismic isolation bearings and the site-response effects on the buildings, the time history analyses are elaborately conducted. It is noted that the site-response effects are important for the isolated building constructed on soft, medium or firm type local foundation soil. The results of the analysis demonstrate that the site-response has significant effects on the response values of the structure-seismic isolation-foundation soil system.

마찰 진자 원리를 적용한 기계식 댐퍼의 개발에 관한 연구 (The Development of Mechanical Damper Using the Friction Pendulum Principle)

  • 최근 지진의 빈도가 증가하면서 전력 시설물에 대한 피해 역시 심각한 상황이다. 요즘 들어 Hanger, Brace, Snubber와 같이 주요기기들을 연결하는 배관지지 시스템의 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 배관의 손상은 발전소 가동에 전체적인 영향을 미치기 때문에 손상을 주는 요인으로부터 보호할지지 장치가 필요하게 된다. 이러한 장치들은 배관에 작용하는 직 간접적인 진동과 충격을 저감시키는 역할을 하기 때문에 배관의 손상을 방지할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 마찰진자 원리를 이용한 기계식 댐퍼를 개발하고 특성시험을 통해 장치 성능을 검증한 내용을 기술하였다. 또한 자체 개발한 설계 프로그램을 통해 예상된 해석값과 시험값을 비교분석하였고 결과적으로 설계의 신뢰성을 향상시켰다.
