  • An improved negative capacitance circuit that cancels out input impedance of a front-end in a bioimpedance measurement and operates stably with a low gain margin has been proposed. Since the proposed circuit comprises wide-band operational amplifiers, selecting operational amplifiers is easy, while an operational amplifier of prefer bandwidth should be chosen to apply conventional circuit. Also, since gain margin can be controlled by a feedback resistor connected serially with a feedback capacitor, gain margin is tuneable with a potentiometer. The input impedance of the proposed circuit is two times larger than that of the conventional circuit and 40-times than that without a negative capacitance circuit. Furthermore, closed-loop phase response of the proposed circuit is better than that of the conventional circuit or without a negative capacitance circuit. Above all, for the proposed circuit, the frequency at which a gain peaking occurs is higher than the frequency at which the loop gain becomes a maximum. Thus, the proposed circuit is not affected by a gain peaking and can be operated with a very low gain margin.

  • In this paper, the exact analysis of the parallel coupled line with open stub and an application to branch-line hybrid are presented. The Z-parameter of the parallel coupled line with an open stub is derived. The structure shows the characteristics as a lowpass filter unit cell(LUC) with wide stop band. Using the characteristics we designed a miniaturized branch-line hybrid with wide harmonic-suppressed band. The size of the new branch-line hybrid is a half of the conventional branch-line hybrid. The frequency response is the same with that of the conventional one near 1.7 GHz center frequency. Including the fifth harmonics, up to 12 GHz spurious responses are suppressed below to -20dB.

  • Piezoelectric thick films of soft $Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$ (PZT) based commercial material (S55) were fabricated using a conventional tape casting method. Ag-Pd electrodes were printed on the piezoelectric film at room temperature and all 5 layered films with a dimension of $12mm{\times}16mm$ were successfully laminated for a multi-layered piezoelectric ceramic actuator. The laminated specimens were co-fired at $1,100^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. A flat layered and dense microstructure was obtained for the $112{\mu}m$ thick piezoelectric actuator after sintering process. Thereafter, a prototype piezoelectric speaker was fabricated using the multi-layered piezoelectric ceramic actuator which can operate as a bimorph. Its SPL (sound pressure level) characteristic was also evaluated for speaker application. Frequency response revealed that the output SPL with a root mean square voltage of 10 V increased gradually to the highest peak of 87.5 dB for 1.5 kHz and exhibited a relatively stable behavior over the measured frequency range (${\leq}20kHz$) at a distance of 10 cm, implying that the fabricated piezoelectric speaker is potential for speaker applications.

  • Root surface exposure due to gingival recession after periodontal surgery, dentin exposure after root planing elicit pain response when exposed to mechanical, heat, chemical or osmotic stimulation. Especially, patients treated with periodontal surgery, show high frequency and there have been reports showing the 1 out of 7 patients have dentin hypersensitivity. There have been many studies on the clinical effects of various materials on the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity. but, none could provide absolute clinical efficacy. In this study, 45 teeth from 30 patients, who had had periodontal surgery and showed dentin hypersensitivity after surgery were chosen for the experimental group and they were illuminated with laser, 15teeth were chosen for the control group and they were not exposed to laser. After this dentin hypersensitivity was elicited by tactile, compressed air, cold water and then, the degree was evaluated using NRS(Numerical Rating Scale). And during LLLT(Low Level Laser Therapy) semiconductor laser using Gallium - Arsenide as a diode was illuminated for 180 seconds at a frequency of 7(500Hz). This therapy was done 10 times, and each time the changes in dentin hypersensitivity was evaluated using NRS. The results were as follows : 1. After treat with LLLT on dentin hypersensitivity due to periodontal surgery, 22.2% showed total loss of dentin hypersensitivity, 60.0% showed loss of tactile dentin hypersensitivity, 48.8% showed loss of compressed air dentin hypersensitivity, 22.2% showed loss of cold water dentin hypersensitivity. 2. As a result of clinical evaluation of dentin hypersensitivity using NRS, there was significant increase in improvement of dentin hypersensitivity in the experimental group compare to the control group(P<0.05). And there was almost no natural loss of dentin hypersensitivity in the control group. 3. In comparison of the stages of evaluation, there was significant difference in between experimental and control group. after the second visit(P<0.05), and the difference increased with each visit.

  • Periodic limb movements in sleep (PLMS) have been diagnosed easily by nocturnal polysomnography (NPSG) and treated effectively with dopamine receptor agonist, benzodiazepine and opioid. However, few reports have objectively assessed the treatment responses. We treated a PLMS patient with clonazepam and pramipexole, and evaluated their efficacy with actigraphy. Clonazepam improved sleep quality without reducing frequency of limb movements, and pramipexole reduced frequency of limb movements without improving sleep quality, results which are consistent with previous study findings. Actigraphy proved useful in evaluation of treatment response of PLMS.

  • The main goal of this research is to examine the in-plane and out-of-plane forced vibration of a curved nanocomposite microbeam. The in-plane and out-of-plane displacements of the structure are considered based on the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The curved microbeam is reinforced by functionally graded carbon nanotubes (FG-CNTs) and thus the extended rule of mixture is employed to estimate the effective material properties of the structure. Also, the small scale effect is captured using the strain gradient theory. The structure is rested on a nonlinear orthotropic viscoelastic foundation and is subjected to concentrated transverse harmonic external force, thermal and magnetic loads. The derivation of the governing equations is performed using energy method and Hamilton's principle. Differential quadrature (DQ) method along with integral quadrature (IQ) and Newmark methods are employed to solve the problem. The effect of various parameters such as volume fraction and distribution type of CNTs, boundary conditions, elastic foundation, temperature changes, material length scale parameters, magnetic field, central angle and width to thickness ratio are studied on the frequency and force responses of the structure. The results indicate that the highest frequency and lowest vibration amplitude belongs to FGX distribution type while the inverse condition is observed for FGO distribution type. In addition, the hardening-type response of the structure with FGX distribution type is more intense with respect to the other distribution types.

  • At the first time in South Korea, the state of the art acoustic systems were mounted on the R/V Tamgu 21. The acoustic systems are an EK80 broadband echosounder (18, 38, 70, 120, 200 and 333 kHz) which has two beam modes such as continuous wave (narrowband) and frequency modulation (broadband), an ME70 multibeam echosounder (70-120 kHz), and a SH90 sonar (111.5-115.5 kHz). Acoustic data from broadband mode have a very short range resolution, a large detection range, a high signal to noise ratio, and a wide and consecutive frequency response. In ME70, each individual beam consisted in a multibeam plays a role as a spilt beam. The first trial of the cutting edge acoustic system installed on the R/V Tamgu 21 was conducted from 15 Feb to 29 Feb 2016 in East Sea, South Sea and East China Sea. The properties of the acoustic systems were elucidated and exploratory results from three systems were exhibited. Lastly, issues which should be considered and future research plan are mentioned.

  • Recently, structure safety management techniques using cutting-edge technology(Displacement senor, sensor of acceleration) has emerged as an important issue owing to the aging of infrastructure such as bridge and building. In general, the structural monitoring system for structure safety management is based on IT technology and it is expensive to install. In this paper developed an image-based structure dynamic characteristic analysis system prototype to assess the damage of structure in a more cost-effective way than traditional structure health monitoring system. The inspector can take a video of buildings or other structures with digital camera or any other devices that is passible to take video, and then using NCC calculation for image processing technique to get natural frequency. This system is analysis of damage of the structure using a compare between the frequency response ratio and functions when problems are occurs send alarm to administrator. This system is easier to install and remove than previous monitoring sensor in economical way.

  • The micronucleus frequency (MNF) in peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) is a biomarker of chromosomal damage and genome instability in human populations. The relationship of micronucleus frequency with prognosis of patients with acute leukemia is not clear. We therefore investigated MNF in mitogen-activated peripheral blood lymphocytes from patients with hematologic diseases and solid tumours. Patients included 50 with acute leukemia, 49 diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), 54 with benign blood diseases, and 45 with solid tumours, examined with 50 healthy controls. The mean MNF was significantly higher in cases of hematologic diseases and solid tumor patients than in healthy controls (P<0.001). There was no evident difference between MNF in the acute leukemia ($7.15{\pm}2.18$) and solid tumor groups ($7.11{\pm}1.47$), but both were higher than in the MDS group ($5.12{\pm}1.29$) and benign blood diseases group ($3.08{\pm}1.08$). Taking 7.15‰, the average MNF of the acute leukemia group as standard, and dividing 50 cases of acute leukemia patients into high MNF group ($MNF{\geq}7.15$‰) and low MNF group (MNF<7.15‰). The overall response (complete remission + partial remission) rates of the low MNF group were significantly higher than in the high MNF group (P=0.001). The high MNF group further showed lower overall survival rates than the low MNF group. MNF expression and progression-free survival seemed to have a opposite relationship, with a correlation coefficient of -0.702. These data indicate that MNF in peripheral blood lymphocytes is important for evaluation of prognosis of acute leukemia patients, and it can reflect progression of disease to a certain degree.

  • We have studied to obtain the SAW filter for the Single Phase Unidirectional Transduce. (SPUDT), was formed on the Langasite substrate and was evaporated by Aluminum-Copper alloy and then we performed computer-simulated by simulator. We can fabricate that the block weighted type IDT as an input transducer of the filter and the withdrawal weighted type IDT as an output transducer of the filter from the results of our computer-simulations. Also, we have performed to obtain the properly conditions about impedance matching of the SAW filter for SPUDT. We have employed that the number of pairs of the input and output IDT are 50 pairs and the thickness and the width of reflector are 5000A and $3.6{\mu}m$, respectively. And the width of IDT' fingers is $2.4{\mu}m$, and the space between IDT' finger and reflector is $2.0{\mu}m$. Frequency response of the fabricated SAW filter has the property that the center frequency is about 190MHz and bandwidth at the 3dB is probably 7.7MHz after when we have matched impedance. Also, we could obtain that ripple characteristics is less than 0.4dB and standing wave ratio is probably 1.5 after when we have matched impedance.
