  • A single-phase grid-connected PV system is known as suitable for housing of less than 3 kW. The DC link voltage in a single-phase PV system has necessarily twice component of fundamental wave. It makes high THD in the grid current. According to the problem, power quality is lower. Many engineers have studied about this problem. The most simple method is to use low pass filter on DC link voltage control. However it is affected by DC link voltage control bandwidth. If cutoff frequency is reduced to increase the performance of low pass filter, it also lowers DC link voltage control bandwidth. Second method is using band stop filter, it works good on steady state but not good on transient state. This paper proposes the new method for removing ripple voltage to get an exact current reference. It improves the responses on steady state and transient state. The performance was verified through computer simulation using MATLAB and actual experiments.

  • Multilevel converters have attracted a lot of attention in recent years. The efficiency parameters of a multilevel converter such as the switching losses and total harmonic distortion (THD) mainly depend on the modulation strategy used to control the converter. Among all of the modulation techniques, the selective harmonic elimination (SHE) method is particularly suitable for high-power applications due to its low switching frequency and high quality output voltage. This paper proposes a new expression for the SHE problem in five-level converters. Based on this new expression, a simple analytical method is introduced to determine the feasible modulation index intervals and to calculate the exact value of the switching angles. For each selected harmonic, this method presents three-level or five-level waveforms according to the value of the modulation index. Furthermore, a flowchart is proposed for the real-time implementation of this analytical method, which can be performed by a simple processor and without the need of any lookup table. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated with several simulation and experimental results for a single phase five-level diode-clamped inverter.

  • Maintenance of aging structures has attracted societal attention. Maintenance of the aging structure can be efficiently performed with a digital twin. In order to maintain the structure based on the digital twin, it is required to accurately detect the damage of the structure. Meanwhile, deep learning-based damage detection approaches have shown good performance for detecting damage of structures. However, in order to develop such deep learning-based damage detection approaches, it is necessary to use a large number of data before and after damage, but there is a problem that the amount of data before and after the damage is unbalanced in reality. In order to solve this problem, this study proposed a method based on Generative adversarial network, one of Generative Model, for generating acceleration data usually used for damage detection approaches. As results, it is confirmed that the acceleration data generated by the GAN has a very similar pattern to the acceleration generated by the simulation with structural analysis software. These results show that not only the pattern of the macroscopic data but also the frequency domain of the acceleration data can be reproduced. Therefore, these findings show that the GAN model can analyze complex acceleration data on its own, and it is thought that this data can help training of the deep learning-based damage detection approaches.

  • The differential planetary gear reducer as a main component of the concrete mixer driving mechanism requires a strong torque to mix concrete compounds. As this component is currently dependent on imports, it is necessary to develop it by conducting a study on vibration analysis and the resonance problem. The noise and vibration of a concrete mixer reducer increase owing to the transmission error of planetary gears, and the damage of components occurs owing to the problems in design and production. In this study, the tooth-passing frequency is calculated to evaluate the noise and vibration of a mixer reducer, and a fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis is conducted through a vibration test using an acceleration sensor. The vibration of the reducer is measured at three points of input and output of the shaft and planetary gear housing with fixed and variable revolutions per minute. The operating conditions of gears and bearings are evaluated by performing the FFT analysis, and the resonance problem is verified. The results show that No. 1 pinion and ring gears revolve disproportionately. The amplitude values appear high, and the wear of tooth faces occur in tooth-passing frequencies and harmonic components of No. 1 and No. 2 pinion-ring gears. Therefore, we conclude that design changes in the reducer and a correction of tooth profiles are required.

  • In the paper the dynamics of the oscillating moving load acting in the interior of the hollow cylinder surrounded with elastic medium is studied within the scope of the exact field equations of 3D elastodynamics. It is assumed that the oscillating load act on the certain arc of the internal circle of the cylinder's cross section and this load moves with constant velocity along the cylinder's axis. The corresponding 3D dynamic problem is solved by employing moving coordinate system, the exponential Fourier transform and the presentation these transforms with the Fourier series. The expressions of the transforms are determined analytically, however their originals are found numerically. Under the investigations carried out in the paper the main attention is focused on the so-called "gyroscopic effect", according to which, the influence of the vibration frequency on the values of the critical velocity and interface stresses are determined. Numerical results illustrated this effect are presented and discussed. In particular, it is established how the non-axisymmetricity of the problem acts on the influence of the load oscillation on its critical velocity and on the interface stresses.

  • Full-duplex (FD) technologies enable wireless nodes to simultaneously transmit and receive signal using the same frequency-band. The FD modes could improve their physical layer throughputs. However, in the wireless ad hoc networks, the FD communications also produce new interference risks. On the one hand, the interference ranges (IRs) of the nodes are enlarged when they work in the FD mode. On the other hand, for each FD pair, the FD communication may cause the potential hidden terminal problems to appear around the both sides. In this paper, to avoid the interference risks, we first model the IR of each node when it works in the FD mode, and then analyze the conditions to be satisfied among the transmission ranges (TRs), carrier-sensing ranges (CSRs), and IRs of the FD pair. Furthermore, in the media access control (MAC) layer, we propose a specific method and protocol for collision avoidance. Based on the modified Omnet++ simulator, we conduct the simulations to validate and evaluate the proposed FD MAC protocol, showing that it can reduce the collisions effectively. When the hidden terminal problem is serious, compared with the existing typical FD MAC protocol, our protocol can increase the system throughput by 80%~90%.

  • A heterogeneous cellular network (HCN) is useful to increase the spectral and energy efficiency of wireless networks and to reduce the traffic load from the macro cell. The performance of the secondary user equipment (SUE) is affected by interference from the eNodeB (eNB) in a macro cell. To decrease the interference between the macro cell and the small cell, allocating resources properly is essential to an HCN. This study considers the scenario of a software-defined heterogeneous cellular network and performs the resource allocation process. First, we show the system model of HCN and formulate the optimization problem. The optimization problem is a complex process including power and frequency resource allocation, which imposes an extremely high complexity to the HCN. Therefore, a hierarchical resource allocation scheme is proposed, which including subchannel selection and a particle swarm optimization (PSO)-based power allocation algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed hierarchical scheme is effective in improving the system capacity and energy efficiency.

  • Self Organizing Map (SOM) is a neural network that is effective in classifying patterns that form the feature map by extracting characteristics of the input data. In this study, we propose an algorithm to determine the cell formation and the machine layout within the cell for the cell formation problem with operation sequence using the SOM. In the proposed algorithm, the output layer of the SOM is a one-dimensional structure, and the SOM is applied to the parts and the machine in two steps. The initial cell is formed when the formed clusters is grouped largely by the utilization of the machine within the cell. At this stage, machine cell are formed. The next step is to create a flow matrix of the all machine that calculates the frequency of consecutive forward movement for the machine. The machine layout order in each machine cell is determined based on this flow matrix so that the machine operation sequence is most reflected. The final step is to optimize the overall machine and parts to increase machine layout efficiency. As a result, the final cell is formed and the machine layout within the cell is determined. The proposed algorithm was tested on well-known cell formation problems with operation sequence shown in previous papers. The proposed algorithm has better performance than the other algorithms.
