  • A novel phase interpolator (PI) based linear model of multipath ring oscillator (MPRO) is described in this paper. By modeling each delay cell as an ideal summer followed by a single pole RC filter, the oscillation frequency is derived for a 4-stage differential MPRO. It is analytically proved that the oscillation frequency increases with the growth of the forwarding factor ${\alpha}$, which is also confirmed quantitatively through simulation. Based on the proposed model, it is shown that the power to frequency ratio keeps constant as the speed increases. Running at the same speed, a 4-stage MPRO can outperform the corresponding single-stage ring oscillator (SPRO) with 27% power saving, making MPRO with a large forwarding factor ${\alpha}$ an attractive option for lower power applications.

  • This paper deals with novel electronic ballast based on single-stage power processing topology using a symmetrical half-bridge inverter and current injection circuit. The half-bridge inverter drives the output parallel resonant circuit and injects current through the power factor correction (PFC) circuit. Because of high frequency current injection and high frequency modulated voltage, the proposed circuit maintains the unity power factor (UPF) with low THD even under wide variation in ac input voltage. This circuit needs minimum and lower sized components to achieve the UPF and high efficiency. This leads to an increase in reliability of ballast at low cost. Furthermore, to reduce cost, the electronic ballast is designed for two series-connected fluorescent lamps (FL). The analysis and experimental results are presented for ($2{\times}36$ Watt) fluorescent lamps operating at 50 kHz switching frequency and input line voltage (230 V, 50 Hz).

  • The life of a fluorescent lamp is greatly affected by starting scenario and crest factor. This paper will propose a new crest factor control method in electronic ballast for fluorescent lamp using Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM), which employs a passive Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit in the input stage. The operation of parellel-loaded circuit, the switching frequency. and the characteristics of electronic ballast with the proposed PFM control scheme are described in detail, and its validity is verified by the simulation results.

  • An electric power efficiency of electrodeless fluorescent lamp has big relative property of gas in lamp, gas pressure, lamp formation, ingredients of magnetic substance and shape and action frequency etc. We used magnetic substance that open self examination material of electrodeless fluorescent lamp antenna. Ferrite that is used in this experiment was Mn-Zn type. We have examined resistance kind, impedance, Q-factor's frequency characteristic by ferrite. Impedance, resistance and capacitance did not show difference in start frequency 2.65 [MHz] but there was difference quantity. We could know Q-factor's difference according to material, and Q-factor's is important part of antenna design.

  • We introduce a depth scaling strategy to improve the accuracy of frequency-domain elastic full waveform inversion (FWI) using the new pseudo-Hessian matrix for seismic data without low-frequency components. The depth scaling strategy is based on the fact that the damping factor in the Levenberg-Marquardt method controls the energy concentration in the gradient. In other words, a large damping factor makes the Levenberg-Marquardt method similar to the steepest-descent method, by which shallow structures are mainly recovered. With a small damping factor, the Levenberg-Marquardt method becomes similar to the Gauss-Newton methods by which we can resolve deep structures as well as shallow structures. In our depth scaling strategy, a large damping factor is used in the early stage and then decreases automatically with the trend of error as the iteration goes on. With the depth scaling strategy, we can gradually move the parameter-searching region from shallow to deep parts. This flexible damping factor plays a role in retarding the model parameter update for shallow parts and mainly inverting deeper parts in the later stage of inversion. By doing so, we can improve deep parts in inversion results. The depth scaling strategy is applied to synthetic data without lowfrequency components for a modified version of the SEG/EAGE overthrust model. Numerical examples show that the flexible damping factor yields better results than the constant damping factor when reliable low-frequency components are missing.

  • This paper presents a novel high frequency generating circuit integrated chopper-inverter using ZVS with high power-factor. The proposed topology is integrated half-bridge boost rectifier as power factor corrector(PFC) and half-bridge high frequency resonant inverter into a single-stage. The input stage of the half-bridge boost rectifier works in discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) with constant duty cycle and variable switching frequency. So that a boost converter makes the line current follow naturally the sinusoidal line voltage waveform. Simulation results have demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed high frequency resonant inverter. Characteristics values based on characteristics analysis through circuit analysis is given as basis data in design procedure. Also, experimental results are presented to verify theoretical discussion. This proposed inverter will be able to be practically used as a power supply in various fields as induction heating applications. fluorescent lamp and DC-DC converter etc.

  • Optimal damping layout of the constrained viscoelastic damping layer on beam is identified with temperatures by using a gradient-based numerical search algorithm. An optimal design problem is defined in order to determine the constrained damping layer configuration. A finite element formulation is introduced to model the constrained layer damping beam. The four-parameter fractional derivative model and the Arrhenius shift factor are used to describe dynamic characteristics of viscoelastic material with respect to frequency and temperature. Frequency-dependent complex-valued eigenvalue problems are solved by using a simple re-substitution algorithm in order to obtain the loss factor of each mode and responses of the structure. The results of the numerical example show that the proposed method can reduce frequency responses of beam at peaks only by reconfiguring the layout of constrained damping layer within a limited weight constraint.

  • High-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) is generated from a nuclear burst at high altitudes above the Earth, the electromagnetic fields reach the ground nearly simultaneously with regard to the operation time of systems. The aim of this analysis is to inquire about HEMP characteristics and to analyze about effect in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. Specifically, HEMP characteristics are classified field sources, spatial coverage, time domain behavior, frequency spectrum and field intensities in this study. Bits error rate (BER) of the receiver with the software simulation is confirmed for the HEMP effect. Q-factor made a difference about interference duration by transfer characteristics of system. When Q factor is smaller, the recovery time from HEMP interference is short. To the contrary, if the Q factor is larger, the recovery duration is lasted longer by 300-600%.

  • This study presents an effective variable forgetting factor method based on fuzzy logic to suppress frequency droop in extended integral load frequency control. The performance of the extended integral control is greatly dependent on the decaying factor. For an optimal or near optimal performance, it is necessary that the decaying factor as well as the feedback gains should be changed very quickly in response to changes in the system dynamics. However, because of its time-varing characteristic, the optimal decaying factor is difficult to be selected analytically. By adopting fuzzy set theory, the decaying factor can be determined quickly to respond to the variation of the feedback signals. This study builds a fuzzy rule base with use of the change of frequency and its rate as inputs. The computer simulation has been conducted for the single machine system. The simulation results show that the proposed fuzzy 1o81c based controller yields more improved control performance than the conventional PI controller.

  • For FH/SS communication, We discussed the method of indirect frequency synthesizer in several methods. The problem of sing1e frequency synthesizer using with PLL is a varied coefficient value of damping factor in frequency hopping time, which is caused unstable frequency. So. for stable frequency synthesizer, a coefficient of damping factor must be optimized and synthesized to be removed excessive response time. In this paper, we studied FH using with double loop frequency synthesizer which takes stable frequency. We made up a simulator and had a good performance(real time speed).
