The main purpose of this study is to design the port maketing strategies for strengthening the competitive power of container terminal. So far many attempts have been to analyze the international competitiveness of the terminal. As a results, Six factors hypothesized by this study come from previous research analysis about customers preference for port selection. Those are Cost, Centrality, and Intermediacy, Free trade port, Inland transportation connections, Political and Economic institution, and Port facilities. This study analyze the most important factor about hub port, and transhipment port separately, though questionnaire analysis about users(shipper, shipping company, and freight forwarder) influenced on port selection. The results of this study were found as follows : Equations See Full-text

The Purpose of carrier tracking and tracing is to achieve more information over shipments via carrying in mobile business .At multimodes, especially consignor wants to be aware of the exact situation and position of goods. As an innovate business model, we present CGPS(Carrier Global Positioning System) scheme usiug LEO(Low Earth Orbital) satellite. The LEO collects the data periodically and sends to the web server, and eventually customer's PC or PDA. This provides shipping company or freight forwarder with more robust information such as door status, container inside condition, etc.
This study was conducted on the assumption that for Incheon international airport to become the logistics hub of northeast asia's region, it is necessary to investigate and analyze problems of forwarder's international air cargo transportation process, those factors and so on. The conditions of the process of international air cargo transportation was analysed individually according to the time required, satisfaction and problems of each step of process by dividing those into import and export. Consequently it turned out that the time required for the export process of the international air cargo transportation is longer by about 1 hour than the import process which means the improvement of import section rather than export is more urgent to improve the overall international air cargo transportation process. For the improvement of the process, it is also necessary to construct the international air cargo transportation' information system, secure competition of operating and to improve logistics standardization by considering all factors above.
This paper intends to describe the carrier's duty for the delivery of international air cargo and the carrier's liability for the illegal delivery of cargo under the Montreal Convention, lATA Conditions of Carriage for Cargo and judicial precedents. Under the Article 13 of Montreal Convention, the consignee is entitled, on arrival of the cargo at the place of destination, to require the carrier to deliver the cargo to it, on payment of the charge due and on complying with the conditions of carriage. And unless it is otherwise agreed, it is the duty of the carrier to give notice to the consignee as soon as the cargo arrives. Under the Article 18 of Montreal Convention, the carrier is liable for damage sustained in the event of the destruction or less of or damage to, cargo upon condition only that the event which caused the damage so sustained took place during the carriage by air. And the carriage by air comprises by the period during which the cargo is in the carriage of the carrier. Under the Article 11 of lATA Conditions of Carriage for Cargo, carrier is liable to shipper, consignee of any other person for damage sustained in the event of destruction of loss of, or damage to, or delay in the carriage of cargo only if the occurrence which caused to the damage so sustained took place during the carriage as defined under Article 1. According to the precedent of Korean Supreme Court sentenced on 22 July 2004, the freight forwarder as carrier was not liable for the illegal delivery of cargo to the notify party (actual importer) on the airway bill by the bonded warehouse operator because the freight forwarder did not designate the bonded warehouse and did not hold the position of employer to the bonded warehouse operator. In conclusion, the carrier or freight forwarder should pay always attention the movement and condition of the cargo not to be liable for the illegal delivery of cargo.
Due to the recent worldwide economic downturn, companies are required to put more effort into their innovation and quality improvement. In particular, business relationship is increasingly emphasized to be changed from a vertical relationship to a more horizontal relationship, such as collaborative partnership based on trust. In the logistics industry, through the collaboration, consignors can gain competitive advantages by focusing on their core capabilities, and freight forwarders also take advantages of securing stable cargoes and specialist expertise in distribution. Therefore, this study aims to identify key factors for developing a collaborative partnership between freight forwarders and consignors, and further examine the differences between the two groups empirically by using questionnaire survey. Based on the results, the main factors were found as follows: 1) Trust Building, 2) Competence Improvement, 3) Business Ecosystem and 4) Government Assistance. According to the analysis on sub-factors, first, among the four main factors, it turned out that trust is the most important variable. Specifically, the sub-factor of providing regular and stable service was revealed to be most critical. Second, it was found that forwarders need to improve services on 'Information Exchange System' and 'Electronic Data Interchange'. Finally, it is necessary for both consignors and forwarders to have better understanding of partnership. Key implications for both groups are highlighted based on the results.
This paper identified the difference in perception of the consignment system between the freight company and the consigned vehicle owners, derived factors that urgently need to improve the difference in perception, and presented the basis for establishing a management model based on this. A management model based on the difference in perception of consigned borrowers was established, and research hypotheses were established to conduct reliability, validity, and confirmatory factor analysis, path analysis, and mediation effect verification. As a result of the analysis, out of 58 questions, 56 of the total 65 questions showed a difference in perception of the consignment system between trucking companies and consigned vehicle owners, and the questions were input as management model factors. As a result of conducting confirmatory factor analysis, path analysis, and mediating effect verification using only recognition data, 5 hypotheses were adopted, and it was analyzed that the factor had no mediating effect. It can be analyzed that the appropriateness of the compensation system affects the improvement of each other's relationship, and the improvement of each other's relationship leads to the improvement of transportation services. However, since the mediating effect was rejected because it was not significant, this effect should not be exaggerated.
The demand for Less than Container Load (LCL) has been on the rise due to the growing need for various small-scale production items and the expansion of the e-commerce market. Consequently, more companies in the International Freight Forwarder are now handling LCL. Given the variety in cargo sizes and the diverse interests of stakeholders, there's a growing need for a container loading algorithm that optimizes space efficiency. However, due to the nature of the current situation in which a cargo loading plan is established in advance and delivered to the Container Freight Station (CFS), there is a limitation that variables that can be identified at industrial sites cannot be reflected in the loading plan. Therefore, this study proposes a container loading methodology that makes it easy to modify the loading plan at industrial sites. By allowing the characteristics of cargo and the status of the container to be considered, the requirements of the industrial site were reflected, and the three-dimensional space was manipulated into a two-dimensional planar layer to establish a loading plan to reduce time complexity. Through the methodology presented in this study, it is possible to increase the consistency of the quality of the container loading methodology and contribute to the automation of the loading plan.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the basic principles for the examination of documents in terms of the basic duty to examine the documents, the time allowed to the banks to examine the documents, linkage among the documents, the originality of documents and their issuers, and the rejection formula of documents. Further this author would look at the changes of particular transport document including bill of lading, charter-party bill of lading and so on. From the seller's perspective, the changes of the principles and individual documents under UCP600 are the most important in the sense that they affect the criteria against which the payment is made. The major changes include the omission of the phrase "with reasonable care", in terms of the basic examination principles, substitute the phrase "five banking days following the day of presentation" for the phrase "reasonable time, not to exceed seven banking days following the days of receipt of documents", introduce the new wording about the linkage between the documents tendered, and make clear the meaning of the originality of documents as well as the rejection formula. For transport documents, even though dealing with bill of lading, charter-party bill of lading, transport document covering at least two different modes of transport, freight-forwarder bill of lading and freight collect transport documents, this paper focuses on the "transhipment" of bill of lading and the definition of charter-party bill of lading. Thus, UCP has been changed several times to reflect the new banking customs and practice. It, however, would not answer every questions which users and banks will raise. These questions may be best answered in the particular underlying contract. The UCP are necessary but not a sufficient instrument for the smooth operation of an international trade transaction. The rules are now out: it remains to be seen what the players do with it.
This paper examined the factors affecting the implementation of information technology in Korean Global Logistics Companies. Nowadays, the spread of electronic commerce using internet demands a large changes doing business with company to company and give that company a change to recognize logistics. To support logistics activity, all kinds of companies are using the computer and are recognized that the efficient using of Cyber Logistics Information will mainly play a roll to strength the companies competition power. We gathered detailed data on our sample companies mainly from publicly available sources : Korea International Freight Forwarder Association (KIFFA), and companies' web sites. A structured questionnaire was used to collect information about: (1) the company (2) To investigate the factors of the three contexts described above on korean Global Logistics companies's electronic trade adoption and implementation. (3) Usage level of electronic logistics. Most of the approximately 70 questions enumerated in the questionnaire were open-ended, which was consistent with our primary objective of developing a conceptual framework that was informed by empirical evidence. This study suggests that top management support and influential power are main factors for the Korean Global Logistics Companies.
The biggest exchange of international environment of shipping logistics in 21 century should appear ultra-mega container ships on the shipping market. The competitive trend of large size container ship was based on economics of scale among the international shipping business. In the environment, shipping firms consider the integration of freight forwarder and shipper in the international logistics process. The aims of this research analyse a relation between the environment uncertainty and logistics information system(LIS) and the integration and resolve the integration and its impact on logistics performance. The research methodology of this research analyse structural equation modeling on the relation of variables. The results of research are as follows. First, Environmental uncertainty significantly influences the internal integration and the external integration. Second, LIS has an influence on the logistics integration by providing the foundation for LIS utilization in international logistics process. Third, the internal integration significantly influences a logistics performance, which implies that firms should promote interaction and collaboration through internal process integration to achieve logistics performance as the logistical cost and service. But the external integration is not significantly a logistics performance.
