  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to study strategic trade policies under international process research and development (R&D) competition with or without market leaders for free trade and a subsidy regime and compare the effects of R&D subsidies and export subsidies on the equilibrium levels of firm profit and social welfare. Design/methodology - For the analysis, we use previous work by Haaland and Kind (2008) and construct a differentiated goods duopoly model, wherein two firms compete via quantity in a third-country market for free trade and the subsidy regime. We consider simultaneous-move quantity competition when the two firms choose their quantities simultaneously and sequential-move quantity competition when they choose their quantities sequentially. The results are compared to those of Balboa, Daughety and Reinganum (2004), who studied export subsidies. Findings - The following are the findings. First, the results of firm preference orderings regarding firm position from Dowrick (1986) and Balboa, Daughety and Reinganum (2004) may not hold in our model when the firms' strategies are strategic substitutes under free trade. Second, the preference rankings under Cournot competition for free trade and a subsidy regime are the same as those in the strategic trade policy of export subsidy. Third, except for the cases of too close substitutes and complements, the results of firm and government preferences regarding firm position are different from those of Balboa, Daughety and Reinganum (2004) in that Stackelberg leadership in a subsidy regime is advantageous when the goods are substitutes but is disadvantageous when the goods are complements. Moreover, the equilibrium level of firm profit is the highest in the Cournot-Nash play when the goods are substitutes in a subsidy regime. Fourth, except for the cases of too close substitutes and complements, the results of firms' and their respective governments' trade regime preferences are similar to those of Balboa, Daughety and Reinganum (2004) in that a Stackelberg leader firm and government prefer free trade if the goods are substitutes and prefer a subsidy regime if the goods are complements. Furthermore, a Stackelberg follower firm and government strongly prefer a subsidy regime to free trade. Originality/value - By analyzing the effects of R&D subsidies and export subsidies in international markets, we can find similarities and differences between them in international markets.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore about 2-year-old infants' attachment security to a child care teacher and peer play process through a case study. For this purpose, the attachment security was assessed with attachment Q-set to 2-year-old five infants at a day care center in Seoul. Participants of this study are four infants included two infants attached securely to their child care teacher and two infants attached insecurely to their child care teacher. Methods: Participant observation was conducted from April 12 to July 19 in 2018 through 36 observations in free play activities. The Data collected from the transcriptions of video shoots and teachers' interviews, child care plans, and reflexive journal was analyzed and interpreted. Results: The main results of the research were as follows: The beginning of peer play, when infants invited their peers to play, secure attachment infants selected suitable play partners and asked for a specific play behaviors. However, insecure attachment infants invited unsuitable play partners and asked uncertainly play actions to peers. In addition, when infants entered in-progress play, secure attachment infants understood the context of play but insecure attachment infants did not understand the context of play. In the progress of peer play, secure attachment infants cooperated with peers, shared play objects, but insecure attachment infants did not cooperate complementally with peers and express only their opinions. As well, insecure attachment infants could not play harmoniously without child care teacher's interventions. In the end of the peer play, secure attachment infants finished in collaboration with peers but insecure attachment infants failed to finish with the peers and was turned into play with the child care teacher because of peer conflict. Conclusion/Implications: This study has implications for basic resources to think about the role of child care teachers by helping them understand about the relation 2-year-old infants' attachment security to them and peer play process.

  • The mobile game market is fast growing after the Kakao game launched. Especially, the market is placed at the second highest by occupying 33.1% of the market. However, the rate of the total sales amount is only 6%, showing quite an imbalance between the market occupancy and the sales amount. This means that the profit-making models are not stabilized yet in the mobile game market. The absence of profit-making models can be ascertained by the relationship of DAU and sales ranking. There are several games which are ranked at DAU Top10 among Google free games, but not ranked at top 10 among sales amounts. On the other hand, there are several games which are low in DAU ranking but high in sales amount ranking. This result shows that there is no direct interrelation between the product attractiveness which users feel and the profit-making models in the market. This study compared the Google play free games which are ranked at top 10 in terms of DAU ranking and sales amount ranking to find out the factor which causes the imbalance between the DAU ranking and sales amount ranking. Based on this outcome, this study presents the reference point for the design of profit-making models on behalf of the manufacturers who wish to launch into the mobile game market in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore how to use location data for peer relations of infants in free-choice play activities. For this study, location data was collected using wearable devices for 14 students in one class at an early childhood education institution in Chungnam. For the pre-processing of the collected location data, a smoothing technique was applied to recover missing values during the collection process, and the data was visualized using Python's Matplotlib. Subsequently, the movement distance, distance between infants, and interaction types of infants were extracted from the location data using the formula. As a result of the study, it was possible to derive 1) change in moving distance, cumulative value, average value, 2) change in distance and average distance value between infants, and 3) change and trend in interaction type according to the passage of time. These results can provide valuable information on the process of forming peer groups for infants in situations where it is difficult for a teacher to closely observe all members, and can be used as meaningful information for the design and operation of educational programs.

  • The aim of this thesis is to elucidate the meaning of play which constitutes the genuine happiness of human being in Plato's '$heort{\bar{e}}$' and Aristotle's '$schol{\bar{e}}$'. Until now '$heort{\bar{e}}$', a divine act which communicate with original divinity, was differentiated from paidia. And '$schol{\bar{e}}$' was understood as activities in spare time opposed to labour. Plato put '$heort{\bar{e}}$' at the center of their life as a means for gods' blessing. Aristotle understand '$schol{\bar{e}}$' as free activities and the completion of individual life. For Aristotle play is not only a freedom from labour but also a supreme activity. Play itself is an end and a completion. Play is the essence of human life so man can be happy with play. Play is the activity of joy. And play is the most intellectual and spontaneous activity. Now we can assert that '$heort{\bar{e}}$' is the original play which elucidate the existence of the human being in connection with world and is the holy mode of play which makes an affluent life of communities. And we can maintain that '$schol{\bar{e}}$' is a mode of play which freed from the burden of labour and elevate the life of human being to academic activities and contemplative life. By this interpretation we can expose that play is the center of life. We can see the two fold meaning of apollonian-dionysian play and the perfect harmony of communities in Plato's '$heort{\bar{e}}$'. We can see also the delight as splendidness of life in Aristotle's '$schol{\bar{e}}$'. The Plato's theory of play seems different from Aristotle's. But their theories are the same in the general, because they both put play at the center of life and they equally assert that we have to live with playing our life. The world in which play is in harmony with labour- this world is their utopia.

  • Aluminum alloy matrix composites reinforced with various amounts of SiC particles have been produced by rheo-compocasting followed by hot extrusion. A relatively uniform distribution of SiC particles in the composites was obtained. The amounts of pore and SiC particles cluster were relatively small in the composites. Particle free zones were observed in the hot extruded composites when the amount of SiC particles was less than 20 vol%. However, the width of particle free zone decreases with the increase of SiC particle content. Eutectic Si phase play an important role for improving bonding between SiC particle and matrix. Tensile and yield strength increased with the increase of SiC particle content. the strenthening effect of SiC particle addition was effective even at relatively high temperature of 573 K.

  • Plasma is generated by electrical discharge. Most plasma generation has been carried out at low-pressure gas typically less than one millionth of atmospheric pressure. Plasmas are in general generated from impact ionization of neutral gas molecules by accelerated electrons. The energy gain of electrons accelerated in an electrical field is proportional to the mean free path. Electrons gain more energy at low-pressure gas and generate plasma easily by ionization of neutrals, because the mean free path is longer. For this reason conventional plasma generation is carried out at low pressures. However, many practical applications require plasmas at high-pressure. In order to avoid the requirement for vacuum pumps, researchers in Korea start to develop plasmas in high-pressure chambers where the pressure is 1 atmosphere or greater. Material processing, environmental protection/restoration and improved energy production efficiency using plasmas are only possible for inexpensive bulk plasmas. We thus generate plasmas by new methods and plan to set foundations for new plasma technologies for $21^{st}$ / century industries. This technological research will play a central role in material processing, environmental and energy production industries.

  • Oxidation of catecholamines may contribute to the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). The effect of the oxidized products of catecholamines on the modification of Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutase (SOD) was investigated. When Cu,Zn-SOD was incubated with the oxidized 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA) or dopamine, the protein was induced to be aggregated. The deoxyribose assay showed that hydroxyl radicals were generated during the oxidation of catecholamines in the presence of copper ion. Radical scavengers, azide, N-acetylcysteine, and catalase inhibited the oxidized catecholamine-mediated Cu,Zn-SOD aggregation. Therefore, the results indicate that free radicals may play a role in the aggregation of Cu,Zn-SOD. When Cu,Zn-SOD that had been exposed to catecholamines was subsequently analyzed by an amino acid analysis, the glycine and histidine residues were particularly sensitive. These results suggest that the modification of Cu,Zn-SOD by oxidized catecholamines might induce the perturbation of cellular antioxidant systems and led to a deleterious cell condition.

  • The changes in nuclecotides and their related compounds during the fermentation of Clam, Tapes japonica, were analyzed by high speed liquid chromatography. In raw Clam, dominant ADP was $7.86\;{\mu}mole/g$ on moisture and salt free base and the content of ATP was $3.85\;{\mu}mole/g$, AMP $3.71\;{\mu}mole/g$, hypoxanthine $0.28\;{\mu}mole/g$, inosine $0.15\;{\mu}mole/g$, respectively. But IMP was not detected in Clam ADP, ATP and AMP decreased while inosine and hypoxanthine incraesed by twenty two times and thirty there times respectively, after 63 days fermentation, when compared with raw samples. TMA- N increased while TMAO - N decreased during the fermentation The amount of TMAO nitrogen in 63 days fermented Clam was 66.0mg% on moisture and salt free base. It was belived that inosine, hypoxanthine and TMAO play an important role as flavour compounds in fermented Clam.
