  • The cost is known to be proportional to the size of sample. We consider a cost function of the form Cost=c1np+c2npmq where c1, c2 p, and q are all positive constants. This cost function is to be used in finding an optimal allocation in two-stage cluster sampling. The optimal allocations of n and m gives the properties of uniqueness under some conditions and of monotonicity with p>0 when q=1.

  • Applying the topological theory of rubber elasticity which was suggested by K. Iwata to the newly devised body-centered cubic lattice model, the authors calculated the values of four terms of the free energy to form polymer networks. Finding the projection matrix of the BCL model, and comparing this with the values of the simple cubic lattice (abbreviated to SCL hereafter) model of K. Iwata, the authors obtained the stress versus strain curves and found that the curves are in good agreement with the experimental results of poly(dimethyl siloxane) networks.

  • We are concerned with optimization methods for the $L^2$-Wasserstein least squares problem of Gaussian measures (alternatively the n-coupling problem). Based on its equivalent form on the convex cone of positive definite matrices of fixed size and the strict convexity of the variance function, we are able to present an implementable (accelerated) gradient method for finding the unique minimizer. Its global convergence rate analysis is provided according to the derived upper bound of Lipschitz constants of the gradient function.

  • This study investigates the costumes of the Most Reverend Priest, which shows a portrait of the Buddhist monk in Koryo dynasty, owned by SONG KWANG Temple. A surplice and a long sleeved Buddhist robe was chiefly shown up a portrait of a Buddhist monk. The purpose of this study find out the color, form, pattern, material, adornment of the costumes which is appeared a portrait, and also seek to changing process according to the times. the finding in this paper are ; * A surplice - color : red, green, yellow etc. form' big size surplice, provision surplice. pattern : no. material : unstriated silk. adornment' bolt, ribbon. * A long sleeved Buddhist robe- color : grey, blue, dark blue, pink, green, chestnut .etc. pattern : no. In comparison with a survery of previous studies of Buddhist comstumes, the color and type of the Koryo dynasty are more brilliant various color. In other words, the social status of monk in the Koryo is higher than present day.

  • The amount of financial information in today's sophisticated large data bases is huge and makes comparisons between company performance difficult or at least very time consuming. The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether neural networks in the form of self-organizing maps can be used to manage the complexity in large data bases. This paper structures and analyzes accounting numbers in a large data base over several time periods. By using self-organizing maps, we overcome the problems associated with finding the appropriate underlying distribution and the functional form of the underlying data in the structuring task that is often encountered, for example, when using cluster analysis. The method chosen also offers a way of visualizing the results. The data base in this study consists of annual reports of more than 80 Korean companies with data from the year 1998.

  • The Matsumoto metric is an ($\alpha,\;\bata$)-metric which is an exact formulation of the model of Finsler space. Lately, this metric was expressed as an infinite series form for $$\mid$\beat$\mid$\;<\;$\mid$\alpha$\mid$$ by the first author. He introduced an approximate Matsumoto metric as the ($\alpha,\;\bata$)-metric of finite series form and investigated it in [11]. The purpose of the present paper is devoted to finding the condition for a Finsler space with an approximate Matsumoto metric to be projectively flat.

  • This paper presents an efficient algorithm for including the kinematic calibration data into the motion controller to improve the positioning accuracy of the manipulators. Rather than spending several iterations for finding the inverse solution of the calibrated kinematics, our approach requires only the nominal inverse solution and the calibrated forward kinematics for providing a better position command promptly. Thus, real-time application is guaranteed whenever the manipulators nominal inverse solution can be expressed in a closed form. Experimental results show that the line tracking performances can be remarkably improved by employing our algorithm.

  • In the present circumstance of exploring measures for sustainable development, finding and using planning elements of historical city is getting important as a urban planning tool. Thus this study aims to examine the characters of Korean traditional urban form through three periods, Josun, modern and contemporary eras. Three urban centers representing different characteristics were selected; historical center based on 14th century's traditional planning, modern period urban center, which is related with development of railway, and contemporary urban center of late 20th century. Analyse of urban tissue, composed with form and scale of street network, blocks and plots, shows that each urban center of Seoul has certain common attributes in terms of morphology in spite of the difference of formation and development period. However this historical urban forms are rarely applicated in the current urban planning, such as new-town planning or district unit plan. This shows the necessity of modification of urban regulation for preserving the identity of our city and pursuing sustainable development.

  • An important aspect of the study of power system markets involves the assessment of strategic behavior of participants for maximizing their profits. In models for imperfect competition of a deregulated system, the key tack is to find the Nash equilibrium. When the constraints are not considered in the power market, the equilibrium has the form of a pure strategy. However, the constraints are considered, the equilibrium has the form of a mired strategy. In this paper the bimatrix game approach leer finding a mixed equilibrium is analyzed. The Nash equilibrium of a mixed strategy will be used adequately for the analysis of market power.

  • Generally, a logic function has many factored forms. The problem of finding more compact factored form is one of the basic operations in logic synthesis. In this paper, we present a new method for factoring Boolean functions to assist in educational logic designs. Our method for factorization is to implement two-cube Boolean division with supports of an expression. The number of literals in a factored form is a good estimate of the complexity of a logic function. Our empirical evaluation shows the improvements in literal counts over previous other factorization methods.
