Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK) is a rare sight-threatening corneal infection, often reporting from contact lens wearers. An asymptomatic human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected Thai male without history of contact lens use complained foreign body sensation at his left eye during motorbike riding. He had neither specific keratitis symptoms nor common drugs responding, which contributed to delayed diagnosis. By corneal re-scraping, Acanthamoeba-like cysts were detected by calcofluor white staining and agar culture. The etiological agent obtained from the culture was molecularly confirmed by Acanthamoeba spp.-specific PCR, followed by DNA sequencing. The results from BLAST and phylogenetic analysis based on the DNA sequences, revealed that the pathogen was Acanthamoeba T4, the major genotype most frequently reported from clinical isolates. The infection was successfully treated with polyhexamethylene biguanide resulting in corneal scar. This appears the first reported AK case from a non-contact lens wearer with HIV infection in Thailand. Although AK is sporadic in developing countries, a role of free-living Acanthamoeba as an opportunistic pathogen should not be neglected. The report would increase awareness of AK, especially in the case presenting unspecific keratitis symptoms without clinical response to empirical antimicrobial therapy.
Public diplomacy (PD) scholars tend to consider two main principals: the country or agent that conducts PD (Actor A), and target groups in the host country in which PD is conducted (Actor B). The field currently lacks theories of how communications between Actors A and B can be disrupted by a third party, such as a group of motivated trolls, an organised advocacy group, or a hostile country and its agents. The purpose of this article is to outline some theoretical considerations for how the PD research field might move away from a two-actor model of PD to one in which disruption is part of the discussion. The case study explores the activities of an interest group called Media Watchdogs of Sweden (MEWAS). MEWAS was a group of around 200 members who met in a hidden Facebook group to coordinate off-platform activities aimed at influencing perceptions of how the Swedish government handled the COVID-19 pandemic in the eyes of foreign governments, researchers, decision-makers, and media. Much critical news coverage in the international press has been linked to this group. Unpacking some of MEWAS' activities, which can be considered a quite typical mixture of legitimate and illegitimate communication techniques used by activist groups, can help to shed light on some difficult questions regarding disruption in PD.

Inhibitor K562 (IK) protein was first isolated from the culture medium of K562 cells, a leukemia cell line, and is an inhibitory regulator of interferon-γ-induced major histocompatibility complex class II expression. Recently, exogenous truncated IK (tIK) protein showed potential as a therapeutic agent for inflammation-related diseases. In this study, we designed a novel putative anti-inflammatory peptide derived from tIK protein based on homology modeling of the human interleukin-10 (hIL-10) structure, and investigated whether the peptide exerted inhibitory effects against pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-17 and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). The peptide contains key residues involved in binding hIL-10 to the IL-10 receptor, and exerted strong inhibitory effects on IL-17 (43.8%) and TNF-α (50.7%). In addition, we used circular dichroism spectroscopy to confirm that the peptide is usually present in a random coil configuration in aqueous solution. In terms of toxicity, the peptide was found to be biologically safe. The mechanisms by which the short peptide derived from human tIK protein exerts inhibitory effects against IL-17 and TNF-α should be explored further. We also evaluated the feasibility of using this novel peptide in skincare products.
Recently the diversification of construction market and the continuous reduction of construction amount are raising the need of alternative delivery method in the construction industry. The foreign advanced companies actively adopted the CM at Risk delivery method where they perform the service of agent CM in the design phase, and agree GMP(Guaranteed Maximum Price) with the client at the time of 50~80% completion of design. Even in Korea they began to apply that method to pilot projects. In CM at Risk, through the early participation of builder, the level of design completion can be improved and the change order and construction period delay can be minimized. On the other hand, GMP is usually calculated when the design is about 80% complete, so there is uncertainty in the construction cost. Therefore, in this research, the increased amounts of construction cost are analyzed in a number of public construction projects, and GMP calculation process is proposed using the analysis results and CBR(Case-Based Reasoning) technique to reduce the construction cost increase in the construction phase.
Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases (aaRSs) play vital roles in protein biosynthesis of living organisms and are interesting antibacterial drug targets. In order to find out new inhibitor candidate molecules as antibacterial agent, the binding modes of the candidate molecules were investigated at the active sites of aaRSs by molecular docking study. The docking simulations were performed with 48 compounds from four different scaffolds into the eight different aaRSs. The results show that scaffolds 3 and 4 compounds have consistently better binding capabilities, specifically for HisRS (E. coli) and IleRS (S. aureus). The binding modes of the best compounds with the proteins were well compatible with those of two ligands in crystal structures. Therefore, we expect that the final compounds we present may have reasonable aaRS inhibitory activity.
실험에서는 현업에서 이루어지는 화물 선적방법인 EPDS(Earliest Possible Departure-Date Scheduling)와 LPDS(Latest Possible Departure-Date Scheduling)에 본 협상방법론을 접목하여 SBF(Scheduling Bundle Factor, 선적동시 처리량)에 따른 재고비, 운송비 그리고 물류비등을 도출하고 실험결과를 분석하였다.
SV4O p(A), SV4O small T-antigen,
