  • Bubbles within the foamed concrete manufactured by pre-foaming method is the main factor which affects the physical properties of foamed concrete such as density, strength, and porosity. Although many researches on foamed concrete have been continuously carried out, insufficient number of researches on the properties related to bubbles in the foamed concrete has been performed except for chemical application related researches. In order to make an optimal foamed concrete, study on the bubble properties must be pursued. In order to effectively implement bubbles in the manufacturing of foamed concrete, the bubble properties must be estimated. In this study, in order to determine the bubble properties, examination of the bubble properties according to types and foaming agent concentration was performed. An foaming agent used for this test were anionic surfactant, rosin, and protein system with the foaming agent concentration range of 0.05~13%. Test parameters considered in the study were foaming rate, foam volume, drainage solution volume, and bubble size. The study results showed that, regardless of foaming agent type, higher concentration of foaming agent showed an increase in the foaming rate. Also, the results showed that concentration of foaming agent affected bubble size, drainage solution volume change, and bubble distributions. With respect to the stability of the bubble, protein foaming agent was better than anion surfactant or rosin foaming agent. With respect to the bubble shape, anion surfactant and rosin formed bubbles had polygon shape where as protein formed bubbles had spherical shape.

  • This study was performed to obtain the basic data which can be applied to use of foamihg mortars. 1. At the mixing ratio 1:1, the highest strengths were showed by foaming mortam, respec - tively. But, it. gradually was decreased in poorer mixing ratio and more addition of foam- ing agent. The decreasing rates of strengths were incresed in poorer mixing ratio and more addition of foaming agent. 2. The strengths were decreased up to 77.0-92.8% by mix-foaming type and 36.7-74.4% by pre-foamed type than cement mortar. 3. At the mixing ratio of 1:1, the lowest air contents were showed by foaming mortars, respectively. But, it gradually was increased in poorer mixing ratio and more addition of foaming agent. The increasing rates of air contents were increased in richer mixing ratio and more addition of foaming agent. 4. Air contents were showed up to 26.0-63.8 times by mix-foaming type and 5.8-17.7 times by pre-foamed type than cement mortar, respectively. 5. The correlations between compressive strength and air content were highly significant, respectively. The multiple regression equations of strengths and air content were computed depending on a fuction of mixing ratio and addition of foarning agent. It was highly significant, respectively.

  • Low foaming scouring agents (LSSA) were prepared by blending of amine salt of dodecylbenzene sulfone, poly (PO-b-EO) glycol, Newpol PP-2000, MJU-100, ethylene glycol and organic solvent. As the results of several tests, LSSA-2 showed good scouring effect, penetrating ability and emulsifiability, and showed not much water pollution. The foaming power of LSSA-2 measured by Ross & Miles method was 11mm foam height immediately after foaming. And the foaming power of LSSA-2 measured by Ross & Clark method were less than 310mm foam height at $30^{\circ}C$, 17mm at $80^{\circ}C$. As a result, LSSA-2 was proved as a good foaming scouring agent.

  • This study surveys the characteristics of the PU/MWNT foaming film according to foaming conditions. For this purpose, firstly, 16 kinds of PU/MWNT forming films were prepared with 4 kinds of dispersion solutions (IPA/MWNT, DMF/MWNT, MEK/MWNT, and Toluene/MWNT) and 4 kinds of blowing agents (organic I, organic II, capsule, and inorganic). The electrical resistivity of these PU/MWNT foaming films according to the dispersion solutions and blowing agents were analysed and discussed with surface profile and cell morphology of measured by SEM. And secondly, 24 kinds of PU/MWNT foaming films were also prepared with 2 kinds of IPA dispersion solution contents and 3 kinds of blowing agents with variation of the blowing temperatures and film thickness. The physical properties of the PU/MWNT foaming films such as electrical resistivity (surface and volume) and triboelectricity with cell morphology were measured and discused through the quantities of IPA, blowing agent added and also physical conditions(temperature, thickness so on) for establishing optimum foaming conditions with good electrostatic dissipation.

  • A droplet fractionation method was previously developed to concentrate a dilute nonfoaming protein solution. In that earlier study with invertase, it was demonstrated that droplets created by ultrasonic energy waves could be enriched up to 8 times that of the initial dilute invertase solution. In this study, a mixture of bromelain (a foaming protein) and invertase (a nonfoaming protein) is investigated as a preliminary step to determine if droplet fractionation can also be used to separate a non-foaming protein from foaming proteins. The foaming mixture containing bromelain is first removed by bubbling the binary mixture with air. After the foam is removed, the protein rich air-water interfacial layer is skimmed off (prior to droplet fractionation) so as not to interfere with the subsequent droplet production from the remaining bulk liquid, rich in non-foaming protein. Finally, sonic energy waves are then applied to this residual bulk liquid to recover droplets containing the non-foaming protein, presumed to be invertase. The primary control variable used in this droplet fractionation process is the pH, which ranged for separate experiments between 2 and 9. It was observed that the maximum overall protein partition coefficients of 5 and 4 were achieved at pH 2 and 4, respectively, for the initial foaming experiment followed by the post foaming droplet fractionation experiment.

  • This literature study is focused on the improvement of lightweight concrete in perspective of foaming agent. Lightweight concrete is the cured concrete as putting required amount of foaming agent to slurry which is a mixture of a certain amount of cement, sand, and water. It has lower density than general concrete, because foaming agent disintegrates numerous bubbles evenly and independently. Thus, it is capable of lightening the weight and great for sound absorption and insulation, In foreign countries, studies for structural lightweight concrete mainly of tunnel grouting and weight lightening of heavy structures are going along actively. Domestically, exterior panel and ALC blocks are alternatively used for flooring. Therefore, this research consider improvement of lightweight concrete in perspective of foaming agent with foundation study.

  • Pre-foaming, one of the manufacturing way of foamed concrete, is influenced by foaming agent. When the foaming agent diluted with water, surface tension and viscosity are varied. Therefore, this study is reviewing the surface tension, viscosity and unit weight of foam by experimental factor such as foaming agent types(AES, AOS, VS FP) and foam agent dilution concentration (1, 3, 5%) and temperature of materials (5, 10, 20℃). As an expeimental result, the surface tension and viscosity slightly increased with increasing concentrations. Meanwhile, when increasing temperature, the viscosity has decreased. FP produce relatively stable foams only in case 3% or more, which produce unstable foams containing large amount of water content by decreasing only insignificant surface tension when diluted at concentration of 1%.

  • Conventional foaming process has defects such as lower mechanical properties than ur~foaming material due to non-uniform cell distribution and environmental pollution problem caused by chemical blowing agency. So, a new foaming process such as Microcelluar plastics has been introduced to use inactive gases as a foaming agency. In order to apply Microcellular plastics for mass production process system such as extrusion, injection molding and blow molding, it needs to predict the change in material properties of polymer according to the amount of meltingas. In Polymer molding applying Microcelluar plastics, the change of viscosity among several material properties is the most important factor. Therefore, this paper is aimed to establish the method which not only finds out but also predicts the change of viscosity of ABS(Acrylonitri1e Butadiene Styrene) resin according to inert gas amount in extrusion molding.
