Element Design of Balancing Shaft for Reducing the Vibration in Engine Module (엔진진동 저감을 위한 밸런싱샤프트의 요소설계 기법 연구)

  • Vibration in Engine module could be reduced by introducing a balance shaft module which has one or more unbalanced rotors. The unbalanced rotor is unbalanced in one direction that act as a opposite direction of the inertia force or moment triggered by engine component so that the largest order factor in vibration is efficiently decreased The ability of balance shaft to reduce the order element of engine component is investigated by a vehicle testing that is focused on comparing the vibration with balance shaft to that of without balance shaft. One of the commonly adapted balance shaft is tested by modal scheme for indemnifying the dynamic characteristics and an, the modal information is used for a clue to design the balance shaft module. The essential equation deriving the design parameters of unbalanced rotor is also presented for two cases, 3 in-ling and 4 in-ling cylinder model. Finally, the overall design process is explained with flow chart.

Analysis of Qualitative Research About Depressed Mood and Suicidal Ideation of Korean Seniors (한국 노인이 겪는 우울감 및 자살사고에 대한 질적 연구 분석)

  • Objectives: To analyze the reports of qualitative research about depressed mood and suicidal ideation of Korean Seniors. Methods: Eleven published qualitative research studies were selected for analysis. We extracted common topics and factors of each stage, Selected factors were paralleled and synthesized to make a flow chart of the phenomena. Results: Depressed mood arousals of Korean seniors are categorized by causation factors, which include economic, psychosomatic, and social factors, and positive-negative coping strategies, which include cognitive-behavioral factors. Suicidal experiences are categorized as ideation, suicidal attempt, and after-suicide stage. In the latter, participants reported three types of lifestyles by their enthusiasm for 'being alive'. Conclusions: Through the qualitative synthesis of research, we could analyze and categorize major factors and coping strategies of participants who exhibited a depressed mood or suicidal ideation.

  • Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) to be launched in year 2008 will be the first Korean multi-purpose geostationary satellite aiming at three major missions, i.e.: communication, ocean, and meteorological applications. The development of systems for the meteorological mission sponsored by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) consists of payloads, ground system, and data processing system. The program called COMS Meteorological Data Processing System (CMDPS) has been initiated for the development of data processing system. The primary objective ofCMDPS is to derive the level-2 environmental products from geo-Iocated and calibrated level 1.5 COMS data. Preliminary design for the level-2 data processing system consists of 16 baseline products and will be refined by end of 3rd project year. Also considered for the development are the necessary initial information such as land use and digital elevation map, algorithms for the vicarious calibration and procedures for the calibration monitoring, and radiative transfer model. Here, we briefly introduce the overall development strategy, flow chart for the intended baseline products, a few preliminary algorithm results and future plans.

  • In developing total hospital information system, large amount of time and expense are to be spent while its results are likely to lead itself to end-users' dissatisfaction. Some of the main complaints on the part of end-users come from insufficient consideration of end-users environment as well as inappropriate representation of their requirement in the system alalysis and design. This papre addresses some advantages of Essential Logical Modeling Process for better analysis and design, explaining by example the developmental process of the Patent Management and Accounting System for a tertiary care hospital. In the case, the Essential Model, suggested by McMenamin and Palmer, proved to be an effective tool for clear separation of analysis and design phase and for better communication among system developers and with end-users. The modeling process itself contributed to better program modularity as well, shown in a Structured Chart. Difficulties in learning how to identify' essential activities' for the modeling practice were experienced in the beginnins stage, which were, however, overcome by elaborating some heuristic guideling and by rdferring to necessary tools including State Transition Diagram, Control Flow Diagram, and so many. While full evaluation of the Essential Model usag remains to wait till the completion of the case project, its strengt in making clear distinction between analysis and design phase was enough to be attractive to system analysts. The model concepts are open to many further application fields, particularly such areas as business re engineering, process remodeling, office automation, and organizational restructuring.

  • Automatic transmission of data from the blood analyzer to the request site is one of the most important part in hospital computerization. We have developed a system that transmits data from the arterial blood gas analyzer to the request site automatically In this system HOST computer, FILE server,'LAN(Local Area Network) , 3270 Emulator and bfulti-port card are integrated with 3 blood gas analyzers(NOVA Inc., USA) which are connected to a single multi-port card in a personal computer. When specimen are collected from tramp)inly sites, they are transferee to the laboratory In the Yonsei Cardiovascular Center After analysis, the result is transmitted to the personal computer via serial commnunication between machine and multi-port card using interrupt method. Then, the patient's information (Name, Patient ID No., etc.) is obtained from the HOST computer througth the emulator. The combined data (patient information & lab data) is transmitted to each request site via LAN automatically These results are stored in the File Server for one year and they can be reviewed anytime. Also, it could be used for the various statistics and the flow chart for clinical research. Additionally, we found thal this system reduces the personal labor.

  • Successful design, construction and maintenance of NATM tunnel demands prediction, control, stability estimation and monitoring of surface settlement, gradient and ground displacement with high accuracy. Back analysis using measured data and forward analysis have been and are indispensable tools to achieve this goal. Sakurai provided the hazard warning levels for assessing the stability of tunnels using the relation of critical strain and apparent Young's modulus. This paper performed the estimation of tunnel stability on construction. Firstly, the apparent Young's modulus concept and back analysis method is introduced for the assessment of tunnel safety during excavation a brief framework. Secondly, this paper deals with case study using "Apparent Young's modulus" and "Back analysis" for the purpose of estimating the stability of NATM tunnel in Korea. Finally, a general method that can be estimated the tunnel stability discussed by a flow chart.

  • This paper summarizes an experimental and analytical study on the application of viscoelastic dampers as energy dissipation devices in structural applications. It can be concluded the viscoelastic dampers are effective in reducing excessive vibrations of structures under strong earthquake ground motions. It is also found that the modal strain energy method can be used to reliably predict the equivalent structural damping, and the seismic response of a viscoelastically damped structure can be accurately estimated by conventional modal analysis techniques. Based on the above studies, a design procedure for viscoelastically damped structures is presented. This design procedure fits naturally into the conventional structural design flow chart by including damping ratio as an additional design parameter.

  • The rapid development of communication equipment and information processing technology has led to a constant improvement in cordless communication. Lithium ion batteries used in cellular phones and laptop computers, in particular, have been in the forefront of the above revolution. These batteries use high value added raw materials and have a high and stable energy output and are increasingly coming into common use. The development of the material for the negative terminal has led to an improvement in the quality and efficiency of the batteries, whereas a reduction in the cost of the battery by researching new materials for the positive anode has become a research theme by itself. These long life batteries, it is being increasingly realized, can have value added to them by recycling. Research is increasingly being done on recycling the aluminum case and the load casing for the negative diode.   • In this paper, we designed instructional method through process that make digital work for active copyright education. This design composed by game-themed programming. We made students realize the effort of creation in algorithm and flow chart, coding progress. And, expressed the effort as copyright sign and cost. Also, we evaluate mutually and did so that confirm value. We applied proposed method to class. And, analyzed effect observing change of inside of students.

  • Applying the numerical scheme developed by Semtner (1974), we investigate the circulation system in the Japan Sea in response to the air-sea interaction and the wind. In spite of blocking straits, resulting surface circulation pattern is similar to the schematic surface current chart introduced by Uda(1934) and Naganuma (1972); the northward flow along the Korean coast and the anticlockwise gyre in the northeastern part of the Japan Sea. Also the southward current flows along the Korean coast at depth of 100-200 m as similar to the North Korean Cold Current suggested by Kim and Kim (1983). And the sinking phenomenon of relatively saline water in the northeastern part of the Japan Sea is similar to the formation of the Japan Sea Proper Water.
