In this study, flexible supercapacitor based on the all solid state electrolyte with PVA (polyvinyl alcohol)-$H_3PO_4$, ionic liquid as a BMIMBF4 (1-buthyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate) and reduced graphene oxide/conductive polymer composite was fabricated and characterized electrochemical properties with function of its flexibility. In order to measure and compare that electrochemical performances (including cyclic voltammetry(CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and galvanostatic charge/discharge,after 0~100th bending test) of prepared flexible supercapacitor based on reduced graphene oxide/conducting polymer composite and all solid state electrolyte, we have conducted press machine with constant pressure ( 0.01/cm2) for $100^{th}$ bending test. As a result, specific capacitance of the flexible supercapacitor was 43.9 F/g which value decreased to 42.0 and 40.1 F/g after 50 and $100^{th}$ bending test, respectively. This result exhibited that decreased electrochemical property of the flexible supercapacitor effected on physical stress on the electrode after repeated bending test. In addition, we have measured that electrode surface morphology by SEM to prove its decreased electrochemical property of the flexible supercapacitor after prolonged bending test.

Flash reduction of graphene oxide is an efficient method for producing high quality reduced graphene oxide under room temperature ambient conditions without the use of hazardous reducing agents (such as hydrazine and hydrogen iodide). The entire process is fast, low-cost, and suitable for large-scale fabrication, which makes it an attractive process for industrial manufacturing. Herein, we present a simple fabrication method for a flexible in-plane graphene micro-supercapacitor using flash light irradiation. All carbon-based, monolithic supercapacitors with in-plane geometry can be fabricated with simple flash irradiation, which occurs in only a few milliseconds. The thinness of the fabricated device makes it highly flexible and thus useful for a variety of applications, including portable and wearable electronics. The rapid flash reduction process creates a porous graphene structure with high surface area and good electrical conductivity, which ultimately results in high specific capacitance ($36.90mF\;cm^{-2}$) and good cyclic stability up to 8,000 cycles.

Nanocarbon base materials such as, graphene and graphene hybrid with high electrochemical performances have great deal of attention to investigate flexible, stretchable display and wearable electronics in order to develop portable and high efficient energy storage devices. Battery, fuel cell and supercapacitor are able to achieve those properties for flexible, stretchable and wearable electronics, especially the supercapacitor is a promise energy storage device due to their remarkable properties including high power and energy density, environment friendly, fast charge-discharge and high stability. In this study, we have fabricated flexible supercapacitor composed of graphene/conductive polymer composite which could improve its electrochemical performance. As a result, specific capacitance value of the flexible supercapacitor (unbent) was $198.5F\;g^{-1}$ which decreased to $128.3F\;g^{-1}$ (65% retention) after $500^{th}$ bending cycle.

Electrochemical characterization was conducted on poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-ceramic composite (PVA-CC) separators for supercapacitor applications. The PVA-CC separators were fabricated by mixing various ceramic particles including aluminum oxide ($Al_2O_3$), silicon dioxide ($SiO_2$), and titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) into a PVA aqueous solution. These ceramic particles help to create amorphous regions in the crystalline structure of the polymer matrix to increase the ionic conductivity of PVA. Supercapacitors were assembled using PVA-CC separators with symmetric activated carbon electrodes and electrochemical characterization showed enhanced specific capacitance, rate capability, cycle life, and ionic conductivity. Supercapacitors using the $PVA-TiO_2$ composite separator showed particularly good electrochemical performance with a 14.4% specific capacitance increase over supercapacitors using the bare PVA separator after 1000 cycles. With regards to safety, PVA becomes plasticized when immersed in 6 M KOH aqueous solution, thus there was no appreciable loss in tear resistance when the ceramic particles were added to PVA. Thus, the enhanced electrochemical properties can be attained without reduction in safety making the addition of ceramic nanoparticles to PVA separators a cost-effective strategy for increasing the ionic conductivity of separator materials for supercapacitor applications.

In this work, we demonstrate a facile process to prepare an electrolyte membrane for the supercapacitor based on a graft copolymer consisting of starch and poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN). The graft copolymer (starch-g-PAN) was synthesized via free radical polymerization initiated by ceric ions. The starch-g-PAN was dissolved in ionic liquid, i.e. 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide (EMIM DCA) without any organic solvents at room temperature. The gelation of polymer electrolyte membranes occurred by applying high temperature, i.e. $100^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. The resultant electrolyte membrane was flexible and thus applied to flexible solid supercapacitors. The performance of the supercapacitor based on starch-g-PAN graft copolymer electrolyte reached 21 F/g at a current density of 0.5 A/g. The cell also showed high cyclic stability with 86% of retention rate within 10,000 cycles. The preparation of starch-g-PAN based polymer electrolyte membrane provides opportunities for facile fabrication of flexible solid supercapacitors with good performance.
We report a supercapacitor cable, which consists of three-dimensional (3D) porous graphene coated onto the surface of carbon thread. The 3D porous framework of graphene was constructed by microwave-activated process using a graphene oxide-coated carbon thread. The use of microwave irradiation enabled to convert graphene oxide into reduced graphene oxide without any reducing agents and activate graphene sheets into exfoliated and porous graphene sheets. Combining two wire electrodes with a polymer gel electrolyte successfully completed supercapacitor device in a form of cable construction. The supercapacitor cables were highly flexible, and thus can be transformed into various shapes of devices and be integrated into textile items. A high area-capacitance of 38.1 mF/cm was obtained at a scan rate of 10 mV/s. This capacitance was retained 88% of its original value at 500 mV/s. The cycle life was also demonstrated by repeating a charge/discharge process during 10,000 cycles even under bent states, showing a high capacitance retention of 96.5%.

Flexible sheets consisting of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) and carbon nanotube (CNT) are newly prepared varying the composition (CNT 20-25 wt.%) for use as a current collector of supercapacitor electrodes. The as-prepared CNT/NBR is electrodeposited with aniline using potentiodynamic cyclic voltammetry to yield a polyaniline (PANI)/CNT/NBR composite electrode. It is confirmed that the electrical conductivity of CNT/NBR current collector can be enhanced as the content of CNT increases. Cyclic voltammetry result shows that the sample of PANI/CNT(25 wt.%)/NBR composite achieves a maximum specific capacitance ($134.9\;F\;g^{-1}$) at $5\;mV\;s^{-1}$. Such supercapacitor application is possibly originated from the synergistic effects consisting of higher polarity of nitrile groups in NBR, conducting pathway of CNT, and electroactive property of PANI.
In the present work, graphene powder was synthesized by laser scribing method. The resultant flexible light-scribed graphene is very appropriate for use in micro-supercapacitors. The effect of the laser scribing process in reducing graphene oxide (GO) was investigated. GO was synthesized using a chemical mixture of GO solution; then, it was coated onto a LightScribe DVD disk and laser scribed to reduce GO and create laser-scribed graphene (LSG). The CV curves of pristine rGO at various scan rates showed that the ultimate product possesses the ability to store energy at the supercapacitor level. Charge-discharge curves of pristine rGO at two different current densities indicated that the specific capacitance ($C_m$) increases due to the reduction of the discharge current density. Finally, the long-term charge-discharge stability of the LSG was plotted and indicates that the specific capacitance decreases very slightly from its primary capacitance of ${\sim}10F\;cm^{-3}$ and that the cyclic stability is favorable over 1000 cycles.

In this study, a thin and flexible planar supercapacitor (PSC) was fabricated by coating polyaniline (PANI) on a screen-printed carbon electrode. Carbon ink was coated onto the flexible polyethylene terephthalate using a screen-printing method; subsequently, a thin film of PANI was coated onto the carbon surface using a dilute polymerization method. A thin flexible PANI electrode in an interdigitated structure was assembled with a polymer gel electrolyte that resulted in planar-shaped supercapacitor (PSC) devices. The as-obtained PANI/PSC was very thin and flexible, exhibiting a high areal capacitance of 409 µF/cm was obtained at a rate of 10 mV/s. This capacitance retains 46% of its original value at 500 mV/s. The flexible PANI/PSC exhibited an excellent capacitance retention of 82% even under bent states of 180° and 100 repetitive bent cycles.
