A heterogeneous VRP which considers various capacities, fixed and variable costs was suggested in this study. The transportation cost for vehicle is composed of its fixed and variable costs incurred proportionately to the travel distance. The main objective is to minimize the total sum of transportation costs. A mathematical programming model was suggested for this purpose and it gives an optimal solution by using OPL-STUDIO (ILOG CPLEX). A genetic algorithm which considers improvement of an initial solution, new fitness function with weighted cost and distance rates, and flexible mutation rate for escaping local solution was also suggested. The suggested algorithm was compared with the results of a tabu search and sweeping method by Taillard and Lee, respectively. The suggested algorithm gives better solutions rather than existing algorithms.
In general, the positive solution to biological reaction-diffusion equations is not unique. In this paper, we state the sufficient and necessary conditions of the existence of positive solutions, and give and the proof for the uniqueness of positive solutions for a certain elliptic interacting system.
The objective of this study was to evaluate survival rate and fish movement (migration) using a tagging approach of passive integrated transponder (PIT) in Juksan Weir, which was constructed as a four major river restoration projects. For this study, survival rates of each fish species and the mobility of fish individuals were analyzed during 2 weeks by the insertion of PIT tags to various fish species in the laboratory. According to tagging tests in the laboratory, the survival rate 37.5% (30 survivals of 80 individuals) after the insertion of PIT tags. The survival rate of Carassius auratus and Hemibarbus labeo was 100% and 80% after the insertion of the tags, respectively, whereas it was only 13.3% for Zacco platypus. In the field experiments of Juksan Weir, 6 species and 157 individuals from 8 species (563 individuals) were detected in the fixed automatic data-logging system, indicating a detection rate of 27.9% in the fishway of Juksan Weir. In the meantime, some species with no or low detection rates in the fixed automatic data-logging system were turn out to be stagnant-type species, which prefer stagnant or standing water to live.
This paper deals with ordering policies of consumable goods which have large demand rates in a multi-level distribution system. The system we are concerned consists of one Central Distribution Center(CDC) and N non-identical Regional Distribution Centers(RDCs) which have different demand rates, minimum fillrates, leadtimes, etc. The customer demand on the RDC is stationary poisson and the RDCs demand on the CDC is superposition of Q-stage Erlang distributions. We approximate the RDCs and CDC demand distribution to nomal in order to enhance the efficiency of algorithm. The relevant costs include a fixed ordering cost and inventory holding cost, and backorder cost. The objective is to find a continuous-review ordering policy that minimizes the expected average costs under constraints of minimum fill rates of RDCs and maximum allowable mean delay of CDC. We developed an algorithm for determining the optimal ordering policies of the CDC and the RDCs. We verified and compared the performance of the algorithm through the simulation using the algorithm result as the input parameters.
As a part of studies of drag reduction phenomenon, at the entrance flow region of abrupt contraction tube flowing water, dilute and concentrated drag reducing polymer solutions contraction losses are estimated experimentally. Futher more, entrance lengths are considered theoretically and are measured experimentally. In the present experiment, fluid temperature is fixed l$0^{\circ}C$ and flow rates are 3,000
The optimization of fed-batch yeast fermentation process has been performed using genetic algorithm(GA). Three strategies were designed and applied to obtain the optimal feed rate profiles. Genes in the chromosome (input variables for optimization) included feed rates on fixed time intervals (strategy I), or swiching times $t_s1\;and\;t_s2$, and feed rates on singular arc (strategy II), or feed rates and the length of time interval (strategy III). Strategy III showed the best results for all initial conditions due to efficient utilization of genetic information. Simulation results using GA showed similar or better performance compared with previous results by variational caculus and singular control approach.
Purpose: This study compares and analyzes the design drawing changes that occur during the design process between hospital design competition and the final detailed design. Based on this, factors that can reduce the rate of changes in drawings are derived. The purpose is to provide basic data to lessen the rate of the changes in the process of architecture design and can be reflected in the design competition guidelines. Methods: In this study, cases of hospitals are selected which are built in 5 recent years. Then compare and analyze the drawings which was drawn in the process from submission of competition to final design. After investigating the design changes that occur after the design competition, analyze the fixed-elements which are the main causes of design changes. Fixed-elements can be narrow down into few architecture-factors such as vertical-core, shafts, public-corridor, HAVC, and mechanical/electrical spaces. Results: Result of the rate of changes in each selected hospital floors can be sorted into variable-elements and fixed-elements which tells that the higher the rate of changes of the fixed-elements, the higher the rate of changes of the variable-elements. Implications: In other words, it can be said as the lower the change rates of the fixed-element, lower changes in whole design changes which represents that the greater the efficiency can be shown in the design process.
PURPOSE. Zirconia has been used in clinical dentistry for approximately a decade, and there have been several reports regarding the clinical performance and survival rates of zirconia-based restorations. The aim of this article was to review the literatures published from 2000 to 2010 regarding the clinical performance and the causes of failure of zirconia fixed partial dentures (FPDs). MATERIALS AND METHODS. An electronic search of English peer-reviewed dental literatures was performed through PubMed to obtain all the clinical studies focused on the performance of the zirconia FPDs. The electronic search was supplemented by manual searching through the references of the selected articles for possible inclusion of some articles. Randomized controlled clinical trials, longitudinal prospective and retrospective cohort studies were the focuses of this review. Articles that did not focus on the restoration of teeth using zirconia-based restorations were excluded from this review. RESULTS. There have been three studies for the study of zirconia single crowns. The clinical outcome was satisfactory (acceptable) according to the CDA evaluation. There have been 14 studies for the study of zirconia FPDs. The survival rates of zirconia anterior and posterior FPDs ranged between 73.9% - 100% after 2 - 5 years. The causes of failure were veneer fracture, ceramic core fracture, abutment tooth fracture, secondary caries, and restoration dislodgment. CONCLUSION. The overall performance of zirconia FPDs was satisfactory according to either USPHS criteria or CDA evaluations. Fracture resistance of core and veneering ceramics, bonding between core and veneering materials, and marginal discrepancy of zirconia-based restorations were discussed as the causes of failure. Because of its repeated occurrence in many studies, future researches are essentially required to clarify this problem and to reduce the fracture incident.
