  • The purpose of this study was to validate the Korean version of autonomy preference index (K-API) for chronic patients. Participants were 569 chronic patients. Construct validity and reliability of K-API were examined using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, and Cronbach's α test. Original API was translated to Korean, and we conducted contents validity test, and pilot test. The K-API consisted of 10 items divided into two domains: (i) Decision making preference (DMP); (ii) Information seeking preference (ISP). K-API explained 53.4% of autonomy preference; the two-factor structure showed an acceptance fit. Cronbach's α was. 77 for DMP, and. 75 for ISP. Validity and reliability of the K-API were established, and this study provides additional evidence for the usage of the API in Asian region.

  • This study empirically examines the relationship between the career orientations of R&D professionals and their demographic characteristics (age, tenure, and education level), affiliated organizations (public and private organizations), reward systems. It further explores the contingent effects of the career orientation fit between leader and members on their performance. The results reveal that : 1) five different career orientations (technical, manager, project, technical transfer, and entrepreneur) are empirically distinguished, 2) technical orientation of R&D professionals is higher in public in private sectors, 3) technical, project, and manager orientation are positively associated with the education level, while technical transfer and entrepreneur orientation are negatively associated with the education level, 4) manager and technical transfer orientation is positively related with age and tenure, 5) the career orientation fit between leader and member is closely related with job satisfaction and organization commitment, and partially related with technical performance, 6) R&D professionals with different types of career orientation exhibit different preference to various rewards. Based on these findings, this study suggests several practical implications for the design of career ladder, mentoring, and reward systems of R&D professionals.

First we chose 427 procedures that are related to safety out of 777 officially managed procedures referenced by 13.5 of FSAR(final safety analysis report). Next, we finally chose 70 procedures of 8 divisions for 44 employees regarding the duties for NPPs' division, experiences of operations, an operational know-how, and the indication of operational weakness. This study used OPTI(organizational personality type indicators) and the combination of 4 preference types for determining the organizational personality to produce personality types of organizations for NPPs' division. • The purpose of this study was to examine the current satisfaction levels with nurse uniforms at Taizhou General Hospital in China and to find areas for improvement in order to develop nurse uniforms with improved comfort, fit and convenience. To investigate satisfaction with nurse uniforms, a survey was conducted of 150 nurses. The general characteristics of the nurses, uniform conditions, feelings of satisfaction, fit, preferred designs, inconvenient aspects of the uniforms, and areas for improvement were analyzed. Eight materials of cotton/polyester blended fabrics were selected according to Chinese nurse uniform regulations, and the physical properties of the materials were tested along with the materials used in current nurse uniforms. Four new nurse uniforms with increased aesthetics, functionality, and comfort were developed based on the survey results. Materials with excellent absorption, moisture permeability, and ventilation were used as main fabrics. According to the preferred designs of nurses at Taizhou City General Hospital, China, 4 types of nurse uniforms designed, consisting of design 1 (shirt and pants), design 2 (shirt and pants), design 3 (dress), and design 4 (shirt and skirt). The new nurse uniforms offered better functionality with an improved fit at the armpits, waist, hips, and knees based on product measurements.

  • Regulatory fit occurs when the way people act accords with their goal orientation the activity. When there is regulatory fit, to pursue a goal feels light and also increases the value of what a person is doing-value from fit. Value from fit can be transferred to other value experiences such as monetary value. Present research proposes that regulatory fit occurs when the domain in which a decision or an evaluation is made sustains the decision maker's chronic goal orientation, and this regulatory fit affects the value that he or she assigns to the object. In Experiment 1, participants with chronic promotion or prevention focus evaluated their preference and purchase intention on 14 design products including positive and negative emotional valences. Results showed that evaluations on the product design (promotion domain) were more extreme under promotion than prevention, F(1, 95) 4.87, p < .05. In Experiment 2 with 16 moral scenarios including prescriptive and proscriptive morality, prevention-focus individuals evaluated immoral behaviors as more immoral than promotion-focus individuals only in the proscriptive scenarios (prevention domain), F(1, 139) = 4.14, p < .05. In prescriptive scenarios, regulatory fit effect was not found. Findings from both experiments suggest that regulatory fit occurs when the domain of an issue that people engage in sustains their goal orientation.

  • To enhance the design and comfort of waist-protection corsets, this study analyzed the product characteristics of five types of posture-correction corsets that are available commercially. Additionally, subjective evaluation of the corsets was conducted on women aged 20 to 60 years, in terms of design, material preference, fit, comfort, degree of correction, freedom of movement, tightness, and convenience of front fastening. Following product analysis, the five corset types were divided into: two soft, one semi-hard, and two hard types in terms of the degree of elongation. As a result of pattern analysis, the soft type was designed to improve fit by reflecting the body curvature, whereas the semi-hard and hard types were relatively flat. Through the wearing sensation assessment, the hard type manufactured by company S was the best in terms of design, material, fit, comfort, correction degree, and freedom of movement. The soft type was average in design, material, and fit while relatively poor in the correction degree and tightness. The results indicated that soft materials, flexible bones with appropriate tension, patterns designed to snugly fit the body with large curvature at the top and bottom for better inflection, and adjustable support belts that can be double-fixed are crucial elements in improving the corset design to boost the comfort of wearing. These study results are helpful in the development of waist-protection corsets with excellent wearing comfort and design appreciated by customers.

  • The purpose of this study was to measure tourists' preference for alternative restaurants with different combinations of attribute levels: grown area logo, origin description, traditional food, fusion food, national food, and price. A total of 210 questionnaires were completed. A conjoint experimental method was used to develop hypothetical restaurants, and an ordinal probit model was used to measure the effects of the attribute levels on tourists' preference. The ordinal probit model analysis results for the data indicated an excellent model fit. The effects of the attribute levels on tourists' preferences were statistically significant. As expected, estimates of the marginal willingness to pay were statistically significant Moreover, the tourists were more willing to pay for grown area logo as compared to the other attribute levels. The tourists also considered the grown area logo as a very important attribute. Withe regard to developing and testing conjoint models in the design of choice experiments involving multifactor alternatives, this study may approach a deeper understanding of the conjoint experiment. Greater understanding of the conjoint experiment can improve the managerial diagnoses of the problems as well as the opportunities for different marketing strategies including local branding programs and menu development and marketing communications.
