선도기업과 후발기업에 따른 개방형 혁신활동이 기업성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Impact Factors of Open Innovation Performance According to the First-mover Companies and the Follower Companies)

  • There have been many studies that open innovation activities have positive effects on firm performance. However, the previous studies have shown conflicting results, depending on the characteristics of companies or the timing of the product launch. This study empirically compares open innovation performance of first-mover companies and follower companies. The analyses are performed on the samples of the Korean Innovation Survey 2010 companies that explored external information and performed R&D cooperation. The results indicate that open innovation activities can have different effects depending on a company's status in the market. For the first-mover companies, the intensity of utilizing external information has greater impact on the firm's performance than the diversity of it. By contrast, for the follower companies, the diversity of utilizing external information has greater impact on the firm's performance than the intensity of it. In terms of R&D cooperation, the external cooperation is found not to have significant effects on a first-mover company's performance. However, external R&D cooperation of a follower company is showing positive impact on the firm's performance. The implication of the study is to analyze the firm's Open-Innovation performance by comparing first-mover companies with follower companies. Therefore, companies need to execute the Open-Innovation strategy by considering firm characteristics or the timing of the product launch.

  • The development of information technology are leading to the rapid evolution of SNS (Social Networking Services) in various directions and industries. Initially, SNS have been used as the form of networking between user's groups. Currently SNS has been developed towards multiple purposes and platforms such as the promotion and the advertising of a company. There are many SNSs including QQ, Weibo, and Wechat and so on in China. However, the use of companies in terms of advertising and information sharing with the customers do not meet the trend in China. Especially, there were little researches for Chinese travel agencies how to utilize SNS for attracting new customers and making them contribute to the firm's performance. In this study, we try to investigate the impact of the firm's characteristics and the usage of SNS on the performance of Chinese travel agencies. Based on Top 100 China travel agencies in 2009, we analyzed the relationships between firm's characteristics and the usage of SNS, and firm's performances in 2013. We expect that our study can contribute to the increasing academic and practical needs on the empirical evidence of the impacts of the SNS utilizations on the firm's performance.

그린활동이 기업 성과에 미치는 영향 (The impact of green practices on firm's performance)

  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the impact of green practice on firm's performances. It focuses on the performance of the firm that already accredited as an excellent green practice firm by the Corporate Governance Service. The regression analysis method was chosen to measure firm performance. This paper also investigate how the performance of green practice are related to some factors such as levels of accredition, R&D cost, and R&D capitalization. This result will give an insight of constructive directions for increasing of firm performance.

게임산업의 사회적 자본유형과 경영성과의 관계 (The Relationship of Taxonomy of Social Capital and Firm's Performance in the Game Industry)

  • Social capital is a sociological concept, which refers to connections within and between social networks. Social capital explains the importance of using social connections and social relations in achieving goals. Social capital such connections and relations, is critical along with environmental dynamism and organizational characteristics in achieving goals for firm's performance. This paper draw the taxonomy of social capital and then analyzed the relationship of firm's performance, environmental dynamism and organizational characteristics such as innovative culture. The empirical results using 134 game corporations in Korea showed that the configuration between taxonomy of social capital was significantly related to organizational structure and innovative culture. And second, the taxonomy of social capital is significantly related to firm's performance.

성과급제도가 성별 노동생산성에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Performance-related Pay on Gender Labor Productivity Differences)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of performance-related pay on gender labor productivity differences theoretically and empirically. Design/methodology/approach - This study analyzes the Principal-Agent model in which a firm employes many male and female workers under moral hazard, and uses large survey data from Survey of Business Activities of MDIS (MicroData Integrated Service) in Korea. The fixed-effect model is employed in order to analyze the data. Findings - The theoretical result is that, after performance-related pay is offered to workers, the effect of performance-related pay on gender productivity is determined by whether the female ratio within firm affects firm's performance(such as revenue and profit) per capita. The empirical result is that, before performance-related pay is provided for all workers, the firm's female ratio does not affect firm's revenue and profit per capita at all, but after it is offered, the female ratio positively affects firm's performance per capita. Research implications or Originality - Fixed pay does not bring about the difference between male and female productivity, but performance-related pay affects female productivity more positively than male productivity in Korean firms. It means that female workers are more sensitive to incentives than men in Korea.

조직 내 기업가정신이 자기효능감과 기업성과에 미치는 영향 -경남지역 중소 제조업체를 대상으로- (The Effects of Corporate Entrepreneurship on Self-Efficacy and Firm Performance in Small and Medium-sized Firms of Gyeongnam Region)

  • The purpose of this study includes: the relationships between corporate entrepreneurship(innovation, proactiveness, risk-taking) and firm performance(non-financial performance, financial performance) and the mediating effect of the self-efficacy on the relationship between corporate entrepreneurship and firm performance. In order to verify the relationships and mediating effect, data were collected from 368 individuals in employees working in small and medium-sized firms at Gyeongnam region to test theoretical model and its hypotheses. All data collected from the survey were analyzed using with SPSS 18.0. This study reports findings as follows: first, the relationship between the corporate entrepreneurship(except innovation) and the employee's self-efficacy is positively related. Second, there was also a positive correlation between the employee's self-efficacy and firm performance. Third, the relationship between the corporate entrepreneurship and the non-financial performance is positively related. The relationship between the corporate entrepreneurship(except innovation) and the financial performance is positively related. Finally, the employee's self-efficacy played as a partial mediator on the relationship between risk-taking and firm performance. The employee's self-efficacy played as a fully mediator on the relationship between proactiveness and non-financial performance. The employee's self-efficacy played as a partial mediator on the relationship between proactiveness and financial performance. However, there was no empirical evidence for the mediating effect of employee's self-efficacy on the relationship innovation and firm performance. Based on these findings, the implications and the limitations of the study were presented including some directions for future studies.

  • 환경문제 해결과 지속적 발전을 위하여 자원순환형 사회시스템이 구축이 논의되고 있으며 물류분야에서도 그 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 순환형 사회시스템 구축요인인 감량화, 재사용, 재활용과 기업의 물류운영 특성인 통합성, 혁신성, 대응성과의 관계 및 물류성과와의 관계, 이들 요소가 기업규모별로 물류성과에 미치는 효과와 그 영향요인을 분석하여 방향을 제시하고자 하는데 있다. 이 목적을 달성하기 위하여 제조기업을 대상으로 문헌연구와 실증연구를 병행하였다. 본 연구는 기존의 물류 연구들과 달리 자원순환형 사회시스템 구축요인과 물류운영특성이 물류성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다는데 의의가 있다고 하겠다.

기업의 특허 역량이 성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증 분석 : 우수 벤처기업을 중심으로 (An Empirical Analysis about the Effect on Performance of Firm's Patent Competency : Focusing on the High Performance Venture Firms in Korea)

  • In this study, the effect of firm's patent competency on the their management performance was analysed. The number of patents granted to Korean firms, patent grade score as of the firm's patent competence were considered in the perspectives of patent volume and patent value respectively. Specially the analysis were implemented focusing on the high performance venture ranked 200th in Korea. The patent source data were from the Korean Intellectual Property Office, Korean Credit Evaluation Information Company, and the Patent Evaluation System of KIPO and KIPA. And the year sales and net profit volume as of the firm's management performance data from the KIS. Management performance data are consisted of the mean sales, net profit and ROI during the 4 years from FY2005 to FY2008. Major results are as follows. The regression model were proved significantly that the year sales volume and net profit are effected by the number of patents and patent grade score. But the model including the ROI were shown not significantly. So it can be concluded that patent volume and patent value are the important factors on firm's financial performance as of the year sales volume and net profit. Also the regression model including the control variables, firm's number of employee and business year, the number of patents and patent grade score are the significant factors on firms performance. And regression coefficients of patent value model were higher than these of patent volume model. So it can be recognized that patent value of firms' patent competency are more important factor than the patent volume.

e 비즈니스 전략 : 선행요인과 결과 (E-Business Strategies : The Antecedents and Consequences)

  • E-business strategy has interests in Issues of strategic positioning and its impact on firm performance. These studies address the environmental factors as antecedents to strategic decision makings and its consequences such like firm performance. However most studies has not considered the role of business models In explaining e-business firm performance. We adopt Porter's generic strategies to the e-business context. We Identify business models and e-business environmental factors as antecedents and then examine these factors Influence on firm performance. We find that uncertainty of environment has a negatively related to the strategic choices of e-Business firms; in contrast, market turbulence positively affects the level of adoption of all the strategies. Among the strategies, marketing differentiation only makes an Impact on firm performance.

The Relationship between Productivity and Firm's Performance: Evidence from Listed Firms in Vietnam Stock Exchange

  • The study aims to examine the impact of productivity in addition to the policy of increasing the foreign investors' ownership rate on the performance of businesses which were listed on Vietnam's stock exchange market from 2010 to 2017. With the database of 3.961 observations, the study employs a statistical method - multiple regression to estimate the relationship between labor productivity, foreign ownership as well as other firm-level characteristics and firm performance. Research findings show that increasing labor productivity and increasing foreign ownership rates help increase firm performance. In addition, except for financial leverage, variables such as liquidity and firm size have positive effects on firm performance measured by Tobin's Q. These findings have theoretical contributions and practical implications for managers, investors and government in Vietnam. Managers should pay attention to improving labor productivity through employing incentive mechanisms, building a good working environment, investing in technology, etc. in order to enhance the firm performance. Investors could utilize the labor productivity and foreign ownership indicators to select stocks of good companies for investment. For Vietnamese government, relaxing the limit of foreign ownership and accelerating the divesting of State capital in State-owned enterprises could help increase the investment scale of foreign investors and resulting in positive effects on the firm performance.
