The effect of variable hit probabilities in the stochastic duel are examined. The objective of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of combat under the situations which we assume either round dependent hit probabilities or time dependent hit probabilities. Due to the complexity of an analytic approach to large-sized battles, a simulation modeling technique has been introduced. several specific examples are demonstrated fire allocation strategies. Output measures are compared among cases each with its own type of hit probability fashion such as constant, round to round, or time dependent manners. For these specific cases, the advantages of round to round improvement or increasing function of time for the hit probability are displayed.
This paper introduces an event modeling and simulation system using behavior trees. The system aims to overcome the limitations of existing fixed, simple scenario-based training content, and to extend the behavior of objects to enable various experience deployments. To achieve this goal, we made specific tasks of behavior trees can change according to users' reaction and developed an adaptive simulation module that can analyze and execute behavior trees that changes at runtime. In order to validate our approach, we applied the adaptive behavior tree simulation to the scenarios in our virtual reality simulation-based fire training system we have been developing and demonstrated the implementation results.

Dead fuel moisture content is a key variable in fire danger rating as it affects fire ignition and behavior. This study evaluates simple regression models estimating the moisture content of standardized 10-h fuel stick (10-h FMC) at three sites with different characteristics(urban and outside/inside the forest). Equilibrium moisture content (EMC) was used as an independent variable, and in-situ measured 10-h FMC was used as a dependent variable and validation data. 10-h FMC spatial distribution maps were created for dates with the most frequent fire occurrence during 2013-2018. Also, 10-h FMC values of the dates were analyzed to investigate under which 10-h FMC condition forest fire is likely to occur. As the results, fitted equations could explain considerable part of the variance in 10-h FMC (62~78%). Compared to the validation data, the models performed well with R2 ranged from 0.53 to 0.68, root mean squared error (RMSE) ranged from 2.52% to 3.43%, and bias ranged from -0.41% to 1.10%. When the 10-h FMC model fitted for one site was applied to the other sites, $R^2$ was maintained as the same while RMSE and bias increased up to 5.13% and 3.68%, respectively. The major deficiency of the 10-h FMC model was that it poorly caught the difference in the drying process after rainfall between 10-h FMC and EMC. From the analysis of 10-h FMC during the dates fire occurred, more than 70% of the fires occurred under a 10-h FMC condition of less than 10.5%. Overall, the present study suggested a simple model estimating 10-h FMC with acceptable performance. Applying the 10-h FMC model to the automatic mountain weather observation system was successfully tested to produce a national-scale 10-h FMC spatial distribution map. This data will be fundamental information for forest fire research, and will support the policy maker.
Many pedestrian or fire evacuation models have been studied last decades for modeling evacuation behaviors or analysing building structures under emergency situations. However, currently developed models do not consider the differences of visibility of pedestrians by obstacles such as furniture, wall, etc. The visibility of pedestrians is considered one of the important factors that affect the evacuation behavior, leading to making simulation results more realistic. In order to incorporate pedestrian's visibility into evacuation simulation, we should be able to give different walking speeds according to differences of visibility. We improved the existing floor field model based on cellular automata in order to implement the visibility. Using the space syntax theory, we showed how we split the indoor spaces depending on the different visibilities created by different levels of structural depths. Then, we improved the algorithm such that pedestrians have different speeds instead of simultaneous movement to other cells. Also, in order for developing a real time simulation system integrated w ith indoor sensors later, we present a process to build a 3D simulator using a spatial DBMS. The proposed algorithm is tested using a campus building.

Buried natural gas pipelines in densely populated urban areas have serious hazards of property damages and casualties generated by release, dispersion, fire and explosion of gas caused by outside or inside failures. So as to prevent any accident in advance, managers implement danger management based on quantitative risk analysis. In order to evaluate quantitative risk about buried natural gas pipelines, we need calculation for radiant heat and pressure wave caused by calculation for release rate of chemical material, dispersion analysis, fire or explosion modeling through consequence analysis in priority, in this paper, we carry out calculation for release rate of pressured natural gas, radiant heat of fireball based in accident scenario of actual "San Bruno" buried high pressured pipelines through models which CCPS, TNO provide and compare with an actual damage result.

The extreme weather conditions become frequent and severe with global warming. To prevent and cope forest disaster like a forest fire, we need an accurate micrometeorological prediction system for mountainous regions. This study addressed the forest fires occurred at Bonghwa and Gangneung in March, 2013. We constructed and optimized the prediction system that were required to interpret and simulate the forest micrometeorology. At first, we examined WRF physical sensitivity. Subsequently, KMA AWS observation data were assimilated using three-dimensional variation data assimilation method. The effectiveness of the assimilation was examined by using AWS observations enhanced with the Forest Research Institute observations. Finally, The 100 meters spatial resolution wind data were obtained by using the MUKLIMO for the given wind vector from WRF.

A lateral type MEMS inertial switch was designed on the same principle as spring-mass system. The MEMS switch is used for arming mechanism of the arm-fire device by sensing the applied acceleration. We analyzed the switching capability of the MEMS switch under various acceleration conditions via performance model. Simulation results showed that the MEMS switch works very well at 10 g when the applied acceleration slope does not exceed 10 g/msec. On the other hand, the threshold operating acceleration level simulation exceeded the requirement (10±2 g) due to the width and length of the spring by considering 10% tolerance of the design values. Design modification of doubling the width of the spring, which is difficult to reduce less than 10% tolerance in fabrication process, was proposed after confirming the simulation results comply the requirement.
This paper deals with the lobby pressurization for smoke control in building fires. A computer program and related modeling technique are presented. The pressure difference between a lobby and a fire area is not able to be same among building floors because an injection fan can not be installed in each floor. The most remote area from the injection fan has therefore the smallest pressure difference if flow areas are not different through all floors. An adjacent floor from the injection fan has possibly too large pressure difference because the most remote lobby must also meet the required pressure difference over the fire area. Moreover this problem will lead to a larger capacity of the fan. It is showed that the fan capacity can be decreased by adjusting the flow area of air supply duct in each floor.
The enemy will attempt to destroy our troop's core facilities using various fire supports at the beginning of war. Among these fire supports, artillery is given the most deal of weight and mine artillery is a great threat to our troops because it has a superior predominance on the ability of survival. Our troops are planning to introduce UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) to overcome these difficulties. A study about hitting mine artillery has been developed inside the military field only. However, these studies had been mostly qualitative analyses, thus having limitations in the aspects of non objectiveness and simplicity. We propose a new method to evaluate about working effect of UAV hitting mine artillery. We studied on hitting mine artillery in a quantitative way using CA (Cellular Automata) simulation.

A mirror neuron is a neuron fires both when an animal acts and when the animal observes the same action performed by another. We propose a method of 3D reconstruction for occluded object motion tracking like Mirror Neuron System to fire in hidden condition. For modeling system that intention recognition through fire effect like Mirror Neuron System, we calculate depth information using stereo image from a stereo camera and reconstruct three dimension data. Movement direction of object is estimated by optical flow with three-dimensional image data created by three dimension reconstruction. For three dimension reconstruction that enables tracing occluded part, first, picture data was get by stereo camera. Result of optical flow is made be robust to noise by the kalman filter estimation algorithm. Image data is saved as history from reconstructed three dimension image through motion tracking of object. When whole or some part of object is disappeared form stereo camera by other objects, it is restored to bring image date form history of saved past image and track motion of object.
