  • This paper presents the study on the magnetic field analysis of magnetid deflection yoke using integral equation method. An integral equation method is developed for the computer modeling of the magnetic fields produced by color CRT and T.V. deflection yoke. Deflection of electron beams using magnetic fields is applied in a variety of display instruments such as te.evision receivers, electron probe instruments, etc. The magnetic field is solved by dividing these into the finite elements in the whole domain : the saddle coil which deflects the electron heam horizontally, the toroidal coil which deflects it vertically, magnetic core which enhances the magnetid fields genterated by the both coils. Using oblate spheroidal coordinates, this paper has had an easier access to the shape of magnetic deflection yoke chasing the boundaries than other coordinates.

  • In this paper, we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of ring homomorphisms over the p-adic field $\mathbb{Q}_p$ associated with the Cauchy functional equation f(x+y) = f(x)+f(y) and the Cauchy-Jensen functional equation $2f(\frac{x+y}{2}+z)=f(x)+f(y)+2f(z)$.

  • Under certain circumstance, premixed turbulent flame can be treated as wrinkled thin laminar flame and its motion in a hydrodynamic flow field has been investigated by employing G-equation. Past studies on G-equation successfully described certain aspects of laminar flame propagation such as effects of stretch on flame speed. In those studies, flames were regarded as a passive interface that does not influence the flow field. The experimental evidences, however, indicate that flow field can be significantly modified by the propagation of flames through the volume expansion of burned gas. In the present study, a new method to be used with G -equation is described to include the effect of volume expansion in the flame dynamics. The effect of volume expansion on the flow field is approximated by Biot-Savart law. The newly developed model is validated by comparison with existing analytical solutions of G -equation to predict flames propagating in hydrodynamic flow field without volume expansion. To further investigate the influence of volume expansion, present method was applied to initially wrinkled or planar flame propagating in an imposed velocity field and the average flame speed was evaluated from the ratio of flame surface area and projected area of unburned stream channel. It was observed that the initial wrinkling of flame cannot sustain itself without velocity disturbance and wrinkled structure decays into planar flame as the flame propagates. The rate of decay of the structure increased with volume expansion. The asymptotic change in the average burning speed occurs only with disturbed velocity field. Because volume expansion acts directly on the velocity field, the average burning speed is affected at all time when its effect is included. With relatively small temperature ratio of 3, the average flame speed increased 10%. The combined effect of volume expansion and flame stretch is also considered and the result implied that the effect of stretch is independent of volume release.

  • For the magnetic field analysis or design, it is important to know the behavior of the magnetic field in an interesting space. Magnetic field mapping becomes a useful tool for the study of magnetic field. In this paper, a numerical way for mapping the magnetic field within the cylindrical center volume of magnet is presented, based on the solution of the Laplace's equation in the cylindrical coordinate system. The expression of the magnetic field can be obtained by the magnetic flux density, which measured in the mapped volume. According to the form of the expression, the measurement points are arranged with the parallel cylindrical line (PCL) method. As example, the magnetic flux density generated by an electron cyclotron resonance ion source (ECRIS) magnet and a quadrupole magnet were mapped using the PCL method, respectively. The mapping results show the PCL arrangement method is feasible and convenience to map the magnetic field within a cylindrical center volume generated by the general magnet.

  • A fully coupled finite element analysis (FEA) technique was developed for analyzing the discharge phenomena and dielectric liquid flow while considering surface charge density effects in dielectric flow guidance. In addition, the simulated speed of surface charge propagation was compared and verified with the experimental results shown in the literature. Recently, electrohydrodynamics (EHD) techniques have been widely applied to enhance the cooling performance of electromagnetic systems by utilizing gaseous or liquid media. The main advantage of EHD techniques is the non-contact and low-noise nature of smart control using an electric field. In some cases, flow can be achieved using only a main electric field source. The driving sources in EHD flow are ionization in the breakdown region and ionic dissociation in the sub-breakdown region. Dielectric guidance can be used to enhance the speed of discharge propagation and fluidic flow along the direction of the electric field. To analyze this EHD phenomenon, in this study, the fully coupled FEA was composed of Poisson's equation for an electric field, charge continuity equations in the form of the Nernst-Planck equation for ions, and the Navier-Stokes equation for an incompressible fluidic flow. To develop a generalized numerical technique for various EHD phenomena that considers fluidic flow effects including dielectric flow guidance, we examined the surface charge accumulation on a dielectric surface and ionization, dissociation, and recombination effects.

  • A CELTHYM(CEll-based Long-term HYdrologic Model), a pre-processor and a post-processor that can be integrated with geographic information system(GIS) were developed to predict the stream flow from the small agricultural watershed on the daily basis. The CELTHYM calculates the direct runoff from a grid using SCS curve number method and then sum up all of cells with respect to a sub-catchment area belonged to a stream grid and integrated to an outlet. Base flow of a watershed outlet was computed by integrating of the base flow of each stream grid that was averaged the sub-catchment deep-percolation and calculated with the release rate. Two kind of water budget equation were used to compute the water balance in a grid that was classified into not paddy field and paddy field. One of the two equation is a soil water balance equation to account the soil moisture of the upland, forest and excluding paddy field grid. The other is a paddy water balance equation for the paddy field, calculating the ponding depth, the effective rainfall, the deep percolation and the evapotranspiration.

  • A complete finite element analysis method for discharge onset process, which is governed and coupled by charge transport equation and electric field equation, was presented. The charge transport equation of first order was transformed into a second-order one by utilizing the artificial diffusion scheme. The two second-order equations were analyzed by the finite element formulation which is well-developed for second-order ones. The Fowler-Nordheim injection boundary condition was adopted for charge transport equation. After verifying the numerical results by comparing to the analytic solutions using parallel plane electrodes with one carrier system, we extended the result to blade-plane electrodes in 2D xy geometry with three carriers system. Radius of the sharp tip was taken to be 50 ${\mu}m$. When this sharp geometry was solved by utilizing the space discretizing methods, the very sharp tip was found to cause a singularity in electric field and space charge distribution around the tip. To avoid these numerical difficulties in the FEM, finer meshes, a higher order shape function, and artificial diffusion scheme were employed.

  • In this paper, we perform a direct comparison study of real experimental data for domain rearrangement and the Cahn-Hilliard (CH) equation on the dynamics of morphological evolution. To validate a mathematical model for physical phenomena, we take initial conditions from experimental images by using an image segmentation technique. The image segmentation algorithm is based on the Mumford-Shah functional and the Allen-Cahn (AC) equation. The segmented phase-field profile is similar to the solution of the CH equation, that is, it has hyperbolic tangent profile across interfacial transition region. We use unconditionally stable schemes to solve the governing equations. As a test problem, we take domain rearrangement of lipid bilayers. Numerical results demonstrate that comparison of the evolutions with experimental data is a good benchmark test for validating a mathematical model.
