Educational programs for students with intellectual disabilities have undergone drastic changes in pursuit of the general curriculum. Accordingly, teachers in various fields, including mathematics, strive to find effective methods that enhance learning. The objective of this systematic review is to examine the field of teaching mathematics to students with intellectual disabilities to investigate relevant effective teaching strategies and required teaching skills. To achieve this goal, studies published during the period 2018-2021 were reviewed. Findings indicate the inclusion of nine studies that met the inclusion criteria out of 55 studies. The included studies found that the system of least prompts (SLP) in conjunction with feedback and error correction, and schema-based instruction are generally the most effective strategies in teaching mathematical skills to students with intellectual disabilities. Addition is the most targeted skill, followed by subtraction and algebra problem solving. The least targeted skills are multiplication, recognition of geometric shapes, calculating price after discount, rapid recognition of numbers, and rapid problem solving. The paper provides recommendations and suggests venues of future research.

Objectives : Acupuncture manipulation, a kind of sophisticated hand movements, has been considered a fundamental skill for acupuncture practice. In this study, we aimed to develop acupuncture manipulation education system(AMES) using visual feedback of acupuncture manipulation. We also investigated whether or not acupuncture practice-$na{\ddot{i}}ve$ students could enhance their acupuncture manipulation skills after AMES training. Methods : Using AMES and motion sensor, we visualized a time-series motion template(intended motion) and participant's own motion(actual motion) manipulating an acupuncture needle. Ten students were trained with complex lifting/thrusting techniques for 8 training trials. We compared the motion pattern error of the students between the first and the last trials. Results : In our pilot experiment, half of the participants showed significantly improved manipulation skills in complex lifting/thrusting techniques after training with AMES which is developed in this study, while the other half of the participants did not show significant improvements. Conclusions : The AMES could be useful in acupuncture-manipulation training for students. Our findings suggest that novice can improve sophisticated hand movement for acupuncture manipulation with sensorimotor learning using visual feedback.
This study aimed at providing a comprehensive account of the sources and causes of errors in business emails that Korean college students wrote using a translation machine. Data were collected from 21 emails written by the students who took a business English course. Findings indicated that the students tended to make frequent errors in verb use and verb tense as well as a definite article, countable/noncountable nouns, time adverbs and prepositions. Therefore, the study suggested that the students' common errors imply that they experience some difficulties learning these linguistic features. Given that learners' errors can give us valuable insights into teaching and learning how to write in English, pedagogical suggestions are put forward based on the study results.

The peer review learning is a method which improves learning outcome of students through feedback between students and the observation and analysis of other students. One of the important problems in a peer review system is to find proper evaluators to each learner considering characteristics of students for improving learning outcomes. Some of peer review systems randomly assign peer review evaluators to learners, or chose evaluators based on limited strategies. However, these systems have a problem that they do not consider various characteristics of learners and evaluators who participate in peer reviews. In this paper, we propose a novel prediction approach of learning outcomes to apply peer review systems considering various characteristics of learners and evaluators. The proposed approach extracts representative attributes from the profiles of students and predicts learning outcomes using various regression models. In order to verify how much outliers affect on the prediction of learning outcomes, we also apply several outlier removal methods to the regression models and compare the predictive performance of learning outcomes. The experiment result says that the SVR model which does not removes outliers shows an error rate of 0.47% on average and has the best predictive performance.

In information retrieval, queries come in various types, ranging from abstract queries to those containing specific keywords, making it a challenging task to accurately produce results according to user demands. Additionally, search systems must handle queries encompassing various elements such as typos, multilingualism, and codes. Reranking is performed through training suitable documents for queries using DeBERTa, a deep learning model that has shown high performance in recent research. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, experiments were conducted using the test collection of the Product Search Track at the TREC 2023 international information retrieval evaluation competition. In the comparison of NDCG performance measurements regarding the experimental results, the proposed method showed a 10.48% improvement over BM25, a basic information retrieval model, in terms of search through query error handling, provisional relevance feedback-based product title-based query expansion, and reranking according to query types, achieving a score of 0.7810.

Kinect sensors have the ability to recognize the behavior and voice of the user. Due to its low-cost and high accessibility, Kinect sensors have been used in various fields, including healthcare, education and so on. In this paper, we propose to use Kinect in piano education. Specifically, the proposed method first recognizes the coordinate values of user's posture, compares them with coordinate values of teacher's posture and provide real-time feedbacks to the user. This enables user to keep the correct posture even when he is learning piano without a teacher. However, since the piano education is a long process, it is difficult to achieve the correct posture as a teacher immediately. Thus, we propose a user-oriented method to measure the error tolerance rate. The proposed method is the first feedback based piano education system that uses Kinect sensors.

This paper presents stabilization and adaptive control of flexible single link robot manipulator system by self-recurrent neural networks that is one of the neural networks and is effective in nonlinear control. The architecture of neural networks is a modified model of self-recurrent structure which has a hidden layer. The self-recurrent neural networks can be used to approximate any continuous function to any desired degree of accuracy and the weights are updated by feedback-error learning algorithm. When a flexible manipulator is rotated by a motor through the fixed end, transverse vibration may occur. The motor toroque should be controlled in such a way that the motor rotates by a specified angle, while simultaneously stabilizing vibration of the flexible manipuators so that it is arresed as soon as possible at the end of rotation. Accurate vibration control of lightweight manipulator during the large changes in configuration common to robotic tasks requires dynamic models that describe both the rigid body motions, as well as the flexural vibrations. Therefore, a dynamic models for a flexible single link robot manipulator is derived, and then a comparative analysis was made with linear controller through an simulation and experiment. The results are proesented to illustrate thd advantages and imporved performance of the proposed adaptive control ove the conventional linear controller.

Many countries and international organizations have carried out rover missions to explore planetary surfaces. Accordingly, the demand for mechatronics education, which is closely related to building exploratory robots, is also steadily increasing. However, due to the complexity in understanding the background information needed for mechatronics, it is hard for pre-college students to study such process. In this study, we suggest an educational platform for mechatronics using a combined robot kit with a spherical robot and a smartphone application. To provide a visual understanding, the dynamic model of the robot is constructed while analyzing the error between actual driving and a simulation, and the educational algorithm of the game and a feedback method are proposed to improve the learning efficacy by considering the user's level of knowledge of mechatronics. We use this educational spherical robot to develop a curling game platform that can impart engineering education even when students lack significant knowledge.

This paper presents balancing control of inverted pendulum on the ROBOKER arm using visual information. The angle of the inverted pendulum placed on the robot arm is detected by a stereo camera and the detected angle is used as a feedback and tracking error for the controller. Thus, the overall closed loop forms a visual servoing control task. To improve control performance, neural network is introduced to compensate for uncertainties. The learning algorithm of radial basis function(RBF) network is performed by the digital signal controller which is designed to calculate floating format data and embedded on a field programmable gate array(FPGA) chip. Experimental studies are conducted to confirm the performance of the overall system implementation.
