Calibration of Fatigue Performance Prediction Model for Flexible Pavements Using Field Data (현장 데이터를 이용한 연성포장용 피로 공용성 예측모델 검정)

  • The main objective of this research is to calibrate the performance prediction models for the growth of fatigue cracking in multi-layered asphalt concrete pavement systems. However, the calibration factors are dependent upon the prediction model, testing method, and the laboratory loading history. A detailed study on the field data has revealed that the performance of flexible pavements is affected by both the traffic loading and the environmental cycling which is related to the age of the pavements. Thus, a composite indicator was developed in this study which utilizes both the traffic and the age information with appropriate weighting factors. Using the proposed fatigue performance model the calibration factors were also estimated through the comparisons between the field performances on fatigue cracking and the laboratory-based fatigue life.

  • Recently, to overcome the disadvantages of RC decks, advanced countries such as Japan and USA, and Europe are using prestressing connection precast decks and loop connection precast decks. The prestressing connection precast deck, however, has a weakness against steel corrosion, because of unreliable enforced grouting. The relatively low loading and fatigue capacities of the loop connection precast deck make it difficult to be used for the bridge that requires high fatigue resistance due to the frequent over loaded vehicles. This research proposes the improved connecting method for the precast decks to minimize its shortcomings based on both numerical analyses and full scale model tests. The proposed method maximizes the advantages of precast decks and extends it's service life.

  • This research describes how to predict a model of the tensile strain related to the fatigue cracking performance of several asphalt concrete structures through design of experiments(e.g., Response Surface Methodology) and harmony search(HS) algorithm. The axisymmetric analysis program of finite element method, which is the KICTPAVE, was used to determine the strain level at the interface layer between asphalt layer and lean concrete layer. Once the training database set of various strain levels was constructed under the several condition of layer stiffnesses and thicknesses in the asphalt concrete structures, the data set was trained through the HS algorithm in order to determine the regression coefficients defined based on a response surface methodology. Furthermore, the testing set, which was not used for the training procedure of HS algorithm, was also constructed in order to evaluate whether the regression coefficients of a prediction model can be appropriately applied for other cases in asphalt concrete structures.

Fatigue Failure of RC Decks in Highway Bridges (도로교 RC 바닥판의 피로파괴에 관한 연구)

  • 지간 2m인 RC바닥판을 모델로 하여 송정등이 연구한 실험결과를 기초로 피로파괴 가능성에 대하여 규명하였다. 같은 Md/Udptj 콘크리트 강도 240kg/$ extrm{cm}^2$이 210kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$보다 피로파괴 수명이 길게 나타나고, 유효높이 14,15cm는 Md/U를 크게 하여도 피로파괴수명에는 큰 증가가 없는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 같은 조건에서 92년판 시방서에 의해 설계한 단면이 85년판 시방서에 의해 설계한 것보다 피로파괴수명이 약 50% 증가된 것으로 나타나고 있으나, 양 시방서에 의해 설계된 단면 모두 펀칭전단 피로파괴가 일어날 수 있으므로 바닥판의 최소두께를 조정해야 할 필요가 있다.

  • To substitute conventional reinforced-concrete bridge deck, glass composite precast bridge deck - Delta Deck/sup TM/, which possesses advantages of light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance and durability, is developed for the DB24 truck load. Pultruded composite bridge deck is designed and fabricated. To verify serviceability and structural safety, finite element analysis, structural testing such as flexural test, local fatigue test, flexural fatigue test and field tests are conducted. In this paper structural characteristics of developed deck and its field application in Korea is presented.
