  • The hat is the most flexible human head covering. Almost entirely enveloping the hair, it can be simple, pure, elegant and mysterious. Yet it is frequently a highly decorative form of dress. The hat also takes a part in the extension of the area of art as soft-sculpture. My purpose of this thesis is to present diverse artistic hats with natural images by nontraditional materials and natural resources. The reason why I select nature as them is that it is absolutely the origin of life and art. To develop the innovative hat design, I focus on the material to extend the range of art expression. I observe nontraditional materials such as wire, paper and so on that enhance heterogenetic feeling from natural images. The attempt is made to enhance the visual effect by harmonizing the disharmonious feeling. Natural resources such as moss, orange, feather and so on could be adapted to the hat and applied for unique design, which supplies new expression. Therefore, the harmony of natural images and natural resources could avoid dullness, bestow elegance and polish the unique beauty creation of the hat.

  • The study used 24 clothing salespersons who had turnover experiences. It used a qualitative research method, through which the following turnover motives were found. The turnover motives can be classified into two: voluntary and non-voluntary. The voluntary turnover motives include marriage, career change, wages, human relationship, family moving, study abroad, health problems, and so forth. This study finds that some salespersons made a turnover because they did not like the products and brand or they preferred another products and brand. This kind of turnover is unique in the field of clothing sales and seldom found in the motives of salesperson turnover in other fields. The non-voluntary turnover motives are caused by non-personal, circumstantial factors which include the bankruptcy of companies due to economic depression, withdrawal of salesroom from department stores due to low sales, etc. This means that the creation, rise, and fall of fashion brands are closely related to frequent turnover of clothing sale associates. As there are various motives for the salesperson turnover, so it is necessary for the clothing industry to examine and investigate the trends of its salespersons and establish an appropriate policy to cope with the matter.

  • The rapid growth of the Korean fashion industry has contributed greatly to the establishment of various fashion associations that have appeared since the 1960s. Seoul Fashion Week celebrated its 20th anniversary; there is now a crucial opportunity for the role of Korean fashion associations to the world's top five fashion collections. This study examines and compares the various roles of Korean fashion associations and the fashion associations of France, Italy, USA, and UK. Based on the comparison results, suggestions for the roles of Korean fashion associations are as follows. The following three roles are important in both Korean and foreign associations: stable operation of collections, the creation of various funds to support fashion designers, and foster new designers through linkage with the education programs for textiles and design. Mutual cooperation among various associations is essential to achieve future goals. The specific activities of foreign associations are highly suggestive for direction. In addition to the pursuit of members' rights, it is also desirable to conduct various social activities. It is necessary to create various events that ordinary citizens and students can enjoy in addition to achieving the goal of promoting and selling products at the Seoul Fashion Week. In order to overcome various difficult situations facing Korea and to prepare for a great leap forward for the fashion industry, Korean fashion associations should spare no effort to overcome mutually conflicting interests and understand other perspectives from a macro perspective.

As the result of analysis, biomorphic designs in fashion are classified as three types: 'representational imitation of form', 'technical imitation of functional features', and 'imitation of symbolic attribute'. 'Representational imitation of form' was derived from an organic design through atypical forms, repetition and extension of figurative forms of nature, and 'the functionalities of the nature' are interpreted as the feature to maintain the condition of the life itself and to attempt to regulate the status of self-autonomy. Lastly, 'the imitation of symbolic attributes' is designing the process of creation, growth, expansion and destruction from circulation of nature.

  • In the fashion industry, cultural borrowing-often championed for promoting diversity-is notably prevalent in the editorials of fashion magazines. However, when scrutinized through a postcolonial lens, this practice reveals a tendency to reinforce Western power structures. This study focuses on instances of orientalism and cultural appropriation within editorials featuring Hanbok in domestic licensed fashion magazines, examining the implications of such instances. The findings reveal three key aspects: first, the creation of a sensual female image intertwining sexual fantasies about Asian women with enigmatic Hanbok aesthetics; second, the utilization of traditional culture, including Hanbok, in luxury fashion's premiumization strategies, thereby perpetuating stereotypical images through self-exoticization; and third, a decontextualization trend that presents traditional cultures and Hanbok from diverse origins together, irrespective of context. This research contributes to the literature by addressing postcolonialism and cultural appropriation, specifically offering insights into the media's role in the modernization of traditional culture in the long term.
