The purpose of this study is to examine the stress level and factors percepted by the married women during family life, and to identify the related variables influencing on stress level. For this purpose, questionnaires were distributed to the 650 married women who have been living in seoul. Among them 463 data were selected. For data analysis, the statistical method such as the factor analysis frequency distribution percentile , t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's Multiple Range Test and Stepwise Regression Analysis were used. the major findings were summarized as follows; 1) The general tendancy of the stress level percepted by the married women during family life was relatively low. 2) The household background variables(age, level of education, income, type of family, number of children, status of employment ) have turned out to be significant on the stress level of married women except family type. 3) All the social-psychological variables(socio-economic status, communication interaction, resources perception, psychological satisfaction) showed significant differences according to the stress level percepted by the married women during family life. 4) The level of work identity was the important factor on the stress level percepted by the married women during family life. 5) In Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis, the married women's stress level during family life was greatly influenced by variables such as the resource perception and the psychological satisfaction.
BACKGROUND: A higher frequency of family meals is associated with good dietary habits in young people. This study focused on the relationships of family meal frequency with food neophobia and personality traits in adolescents. SUBJECTS/METHOD: For this purpose, we administered a survey to 495 middle school students in Seoul metropolitan city, after which the data were analyzed using the SPSS (18.0) program. Pearson correlation was used to determine the relationships among dietary habits, personality traits, and food neophobia according to frequency of family meals. RESULTS: Dietary habits, personality traits, and food neophobia all showed significant differences according to the frequency of family meals. Further, eating regular family meals was associated with good dietary habits (P < 0.001) and was linked with improved extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and openness/intellect (P < 0.001). On the other hand, it showed a negative relationship with food neophobia (P < 0.001). The relationship between dietary habits and food neophobia showed a negative correlation (P < 0.01). The relationship between dietary habits and personality traits showed a positive correlation (P < 0.01). Lastly, the relationship between personality traits and food neophobia showed a negative correlation (P < 0.01). Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, the frequency of family meals affects dietary habits, personality traits, and food neophobia in adolescents.
The researcher worked with 1001 middle and high school students so as to inquire into family-related variables affecting adolescents' school life maladjustment, relying on average, standard deviation and hierarchical regression. The following are the major findings. 1) The research shows that to look into school life maladjustment on the basis of analysis models including family environment variables and family relationship variables in addition to family background variables offers more explanatory power. 2) Of all the variables, parent relationship variables turned out to have the greatest influences on maladjustment to teacher relationship and teaming activity areas among the subordinate areas of school life maladjustment. 3) Of all the variables, family's physical variables have the greatest influence on maladjustment to regulation-keeping relationship and opposite sex relationship among the subordinate areas of school life maladjustment. 4) Of all the variables, sibling relationship variables have the greatest influence on maladjustment to friendship among the subordinate areas of school life maladjustment. 5) Parent relationship variables have the greatest influence on total school life maladjustment followed by family physical environment, structural environment, the number of family members, cultural environment and residential variables in the right order.

This study aimed at identifying theirs relative importance and the factors affecting self-sufficiency in rural multicultural families. The major findings that were drawn from this study were as follows : Frist, the difference in the self-sufficiency level of their family perceived between husband and married immigrant women was not significant. But, in the level of self-sufficiency will, the level perceived by the husband was higher than it of the women significantly. Second, the hierarchical regression analysis showed that the age of the women(${\ss}=.31$) affected most significantly the self-sufficiency in rural multicultural families, followed by the labour morale of the women(${\ss}=.25$), labour morale of the husband(${\ss}=.20$), academic background of the husband(${\ss}=.19$), academic background of the women(${\ss}=.12$), spouse support level of the women toward the husband(${\ss}=.12$). Third, as a result of a hierarchical regression analysis, the self-sufficiency will variables had more explanatory power on it than social-demographic and/or social support variables. In conclusion, based on results of this study, several plans improving self-sufficiency of the rural multicultural family were suggested. Findings of this study may be used as a basic material to establish the policy supporting self-sufficiency in rural multicultural families.
The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between children's locus of control and their parents. In addition, this study investigated socio-demographic variables of locus of control in children and their patents. The subjects of this study were 269 elementary school children in the 5th and 6th grade and their parents. To assess children's locus of control, the inter -external locus of control scale developed by H.K. Lee(1980) was used. The locus of control scale designed by J. W. Jo(1989) was administered to parents. The data of the study were analysed with t-test, one was ANOVA and Scheffe's test. Also, Pearson's correlation coefficient was computed. The results of this study were as follows. 1)There were significant differences in children's locus of control according to the children's sex, parent's educational background and family income. Boys were more internal than girls. Children with parent who had higher educational backgrounds were more internal than others. Also, children in higher family income were more internal those in lower educational background and family income. Also parents with religion were more internal than those without religion. 3)children's locus of control was significantly correlated with their parents . Paternal locus of control was significantly correlated with their daughter's and maternal locus of control with their sons'.
In Republic of Chaina (Taiwan), Natural Death Act named "Anning Huauhe Yiliao Tiaoli" which means palliative and hospice care act was enacted in year of 2000. And enforced in the same year. Many scholars say that Taiwan's Act took Many U.S.A.'s acts such as 'Federal Patient Self-Determination Act 1990', 'California Natural Death Act 1976' and 'Washington Natural Death Act 1979' for a model. Taiwan's Act adopts a few outstanding systems - 'advance declarations' including 'living will' and 'durable power of attorney for health care', 'family-determination system' for a patient who is in a persistent unconscious state. This paper disusses this Act. 'The content is as follow: 1. A background of legislation. 2. The purpose of legislation. 3. The concept of terms. 4. Patient's self-determination. 5. Subrogated determination by family. 6. Keeping documents. 7. Punitive provision. 8. The relationship with euthanasia. 9. Controversial issues.
The purpose of this study is to investigate (1) the level of childrens' concern and behavior on the environmental preservation, (2) the influential factors related to the two dependent variables above mentioned. The subjects were 286 childrens, in October, 1997, in kwangju. The data obtained were analyzed by Mean, Person's correlation, Stepwise Regression and Path Analysis. The major findings were as follows: 1) The general tendency of the childrens' concern and behavior on the environmental preservation was over the average level. 2) According to the background variables(ie: environment information contracting time, family cohesion and adaptability, biospheric orientation, egoistic orientation), the childrens' concern on the environment was significantly different. 3) According to (1) the background variables(ie: environment information contracting time, family cohesion and adaptability, concern on the environment, biospheric orientation), (2) intermediated variable(ie: concern on the environment), the childrnes' behavior on the environmental preservation was significantly different. 4) The indirect variable of the positive influence for childrnds' behavior on the environment, environment information contracting time. The indirect variable of the negative influence for childrens' the environmental behavior was egoistic orientation.
Variables studied in relation to children's school adjustment were child's sex, grade, and ego-resilience maternal employment, parents' age, parents' academic background, mother's emotional expressiveness, and monthly household income and perception of social support. Subjects were 548 4th, 5th and 6th grade students and their mothers. Results showed that children's school adjustment varied by child's grade in school and ego-resilience, parents' age, father's academic background, mother's emotional expressiveness and monthly household income. Children with higher ego-resilience, whose mothers showed more positive emotional expressiveness and who perceived more social support from peers, family, and teachers showed higher adjustment to school life. Among these, support of peers was the most significant variable.
School adjustment has been a popular topic among scholars in multicultural family studies, and they commonly report poor adjustment of children from multicultural families. However, without subjects for comparison, these findings may be considered premature. This study investigated school adjustment of children from multicultural families by comparing their adjustment level to that of children from families with Korean parents. By using the matching procedure, this study examined whether children's multicultural family background attributes to their school adjustment with children's observable characteristics paired and matched. For the analyses, the first and fourth wave of Korean Children and Youth Panel Study data were used. When the school adjustment level was examined before the matching procedure, the school adjustment level was indeed lower among children of multicultural families, and their family status was a significant predictor of school adjustment. However, when two groups were paired and matched using matching, the family background had no significant effect, indicating that school adjustment is not predicted by their multicultural family status. Implications for research and practice are also discussed in the paper.
The purpose of this study was to investigate loneliness in infertile women and determine how loneliness related to personal characteristics, cause of infertility, family composition, and family conflicts. It also provides basic data for nursing strategies concerning infertile women.A total of 182 subjects were selected at an infertile clinic in Seoul, Korea. Data were collected from May 2 to June 21, 1997 by questionaire. It consisted of questions concerning general characteristics, items relating to infertility, and the Loneliness Scale. The UCLA Loneliness scale was used(more specifically, the Korean version of the Revised UCLA Scale by Kim Ok Soo.) The data were analyzed by using SPSS/PC computer program. The result are as follows : 1. The mean age of infertile women was 32.4 years old, and the mean age of souses was 34.8 yerars old. 30.2% of women had a marital duration of 3-5 years, and 25.8% had a marital duration of 5-10 years. 23.1% reported the main etiology of infertility as unexplained, 18.1% reported ovulation disturbances, and 26.4% reported complex causes. 3.8% of the couples had sexual relationship difficulty 83% lived in nuclear families, while 17% lived in large families. 2. The mean loneliness scores of infertile women was 35.53(SD=8.66). The total loneliness score of this study was 80. 3. There were significant differences in loneliness scores according to ages(F=6.893, p=.001), education background(t=4.418, p=.000), and the educational background of husband(t=2.339, p=.020). 4. Loneliness scores related to family situations were significantly different according to several male nephews in husbands' family(F=2.822, p=.027). 5. Loneliness scores related to conflicts were significantly different according to husbands and their family(F=11.465, p=.000). Nurses should acknowlege the fact that some infertile women may experience loneliness. In conclusion, nurses can provide infertile women with information about ways to decrease loneliness and create support groups for themselves, assisting infertile women to adjust to the experience of infertility through positive methods.
