  • The problem of examining how well an assumed distribution fits the data of a sample is of significant and must be examined prior to any inferential process. The observed failure time data of items are often not wholly available in reliability and life-testing studies. Lowering the expense and period associated with tests is important in statistical tests with censored data. Goodness-of-fit tests for perfect data can no longer be used when the observed failure time data are progressive Type II censored (PC) data. Therefore, we propose goodness-of-fit test statistics and a graphical method based on generalized Lorenz curve for PC data from a location-scale distribution. The power of the proposed tests is then assessed through Monte Carlo simulations. Finally, we analyzed two real data set for illustrative purposes.

  • Short stature homeobox-containing gene (SHOX) is a well-known causative gene for the short stature in Turner syndrome. The clinical manifestation of SHOX gene related disorders varies from SHOX haploinsufficiency, presenting with idiopathic short stature, disproportionate short stature, or Leri-Weill dyschondrosteosis (LWD) to recessive form of extreme dwarfism and limb deformity in Langer mesomelic dysplasia. LWD is usually diagnosed upon suspicion based on short stature and skeletal abnormalities, and it is rarely accompanied with respiratory failure in the neonatal period. Here, we report the case of a newborn infant with LWD presenting with severe micrognathia that caused respiratory distress, which was diagnosed using microarray testing. Even when the manifestation of Madelung deformity is not yet apparent, LWD should be considered as one of underlying diseases related to congenital micrognathia.

  • In index investing according to KOSPI, we estimate Value at Risk(VaR) from the extreme losses of the daily returns which are obtained from KOSPI. To this end, we apply Block Maxima(BM) model which is one of the useful models in the extreme value theory. We also estimate the extremal index to consider the dependency in the occurrence of extreme losses. From the back-testing based on the failure rate method, we can see that the model is adaptable for the VaR estimation. We also compare this model with the GARCH model which is commonly used for the VaR estimation. Back-testing says that there is no meaningful difference between the two models if we assume that the conditional returns follow the t-distribution. However, the estimated VaR based on GARCH model is sensitive to the extreme losses occurred near the epoch of estimation, while that on BM model is not. Thus, estimating the VaR based on GARCH model is preferred for the short-term prediction. However, for the long-term prediction, BM model is better.

  • The system test was accomplished in delivery time for a suitable of various requirements at the software market. Especially, critical faults must be detected and removed for a close main functions and users against target system. In generally, proposed test methods are executed with a calendar time, not a competitive and effectiveness method as selective software testing. These methods are inapplicable to short term test or early system development stage. Moreover, it's accompanied by heavy cost. Overcoming of these problems, must attempted to new software test method role of core function in the system test. Selective software testing method is decided to mixing with the three-information such as a frequency, complexity of use scenario and fault impact. Using this information, searching a fatal error and usefully system test for an executed test scenario. In this paper, we have proposed new test method and verified testing results for the detection of critical faults or search a fatal errors with a system main function.

  • Decision problem called an optimal release policies, after testing a software system in development phase and transfer it to the user, is studied. The infinite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process models presented and propose an optimal release policies of the life distribution applied extreme distribution which used to find the minimum (or the maximum) of a number of samples of various distributions. In this paper, discuss optimal software release policies which minimize a total average software cost of development and maintenance under the constraint of satisfying a software reliability requirement. In a numerical example, extreme value distribution as another alternative of existing the Poisson execution time model and the log power model can be verified using inter-failure time data.

  • Hydraulic systems are widely used in the field of defense, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, and general industries, due to various advantages such as quick response speed and precision control. The defense equipments such as light rescue vehicle is operated in very harsh environments, so hydraulic components used in defense equipment are required to have very high reliability. In particular, hydraulic piston pump is very important component in a hydraulic systems, so life prediction of pump is essential. Therefore, in this study, we analyze the potential failure and the main failure mode of the hydraulic piston pump for the light rescue vehicle through the FMEA analysis, and predict the life of the pump by the accelerated life test considering the usage conditions.

  • Traditional theories of the tensile failure of paper have assumed that uniform strain progresses throughout the sheet until an imperfection within the structure causes a catastrophic break. The resistance to tensile elongation is assumed to be elastic , at first, throughout the structure, followed by an overall plastic yield. However, linear image strain analysis (LISA) has demonstrated that the yield in tensile loading of paper is quite non-uniform throughout the structure, Traditional theories have failed to define the flaws that trigger catastrophic failure. It was assumed that a shive or perhaps a low basis weight area filled that role. Studies of the fracture mechanics of paper have typically utilized a well-defined flaw around which yield and failure could be examined . The flaw was a simple razor cut normal to the direction of tensile loading. Such testing is labeled mode I analysis. The included fla in the paper was always normal to the tensile loading direction, never at another orientation . However, shives or low basis weight zones are likely to be at random angular orientations in the sheet. The effects of angular flaws within the tensile test were examined. The strain energy density theory and experimental work demonstrate the change in crack propagation from mode I to mode IIas the initial flaw angle of crack propagation as a function of the initial flaw angle is predicted and experimentally demonstrated.

  • This paper analyzed the electrical field strength of porcelain suspension insulator used various testing methods in order to present the causes and countermeasure for the puncture failure by the inner minute defect. A power frequency puncture test and a step-front-of-wave flashover voltage test were conducted. The failed specimen of these samples was analyzed material characteric observed the cross-sectional picture by the scanning electron microscope, and tested the autoclave expansion for the portland cement using the metal bond agent. The porcelain made a progress the failure by the thermal expansion coefficient of the different material. The inner detecting technique on behalf of the puncture failure protection is presented such as the steep-front-of-wave flashover voltage test.

  • The transmission of tracked vehicles performs complex functions as steering, shifting, braking, etc. and the system level life time has been a key influenced by the number of sub-parts like as gear assembly, torque converter, clutches, bearings and so on. In particular, the mechanical type steering system in tracked vehicle has impact shock torques in steering shift and those kind of shock torques can effect on the durability of many sub-parts in power train system. The field failure modes of gear assembly, steering assembly and the bearings of output shaft appear as a very complex phenomenon. In this study, the actual failure, which may occur in field, of the transmission was investigated comprehensively and that the endurance test on the resulting output shaft bearing failure analysis and life assessment was performed. Life time test method used in this study, developed for the purpose of the internal usage, and under these testing techniques the impact of the each bearing damage, which used in tracked vehicle transmission left / right outputs of different structures, was analyzed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the life of the capsule, which is a core part of the heat storage cooling system. This paper will develop a life test mode that can reproduce environment conditions through the analysis of capsule shrinkage and expansion characteristics. Methods: In order to determine the life test mode of the capsule, this paper analyzed the case of field failures and analyzed the deformation characteristics according to the pressure fluctuation of the capsule. The method to find out whether the field failure and deformation analysis results are consistent is the testing with the construction of the repetition pressure test equipment and the thermal cycle test to reproduce the freezing and thawing characteristics. Results: In this study, failure mode analysis and analysis of freezing and thawing characteristics regarding to the capsule positions were completed. Based on this test & analysis results, this paper have been able to determine the main parameters for determining the life test mode, the freezing and thawing time. Conclusion: Determining the lifetime mode of the capsule can be used to improve the life and performance of the thermal storage system.
