Development of Evaluation Checklist for Personal Office Furniture and Apparatus and Fact-Finding Survey

  • Objective: The objective of this research is to develop evaluation checklist for personal office furniture and apparatus to shape comfortable and efficient worksite for workers' welfare improvement, productivity enhancement and labor force preservation, and to identify office work environment by applying the checklist. Background: Because most office workers work using computers in a sitting posture, the ratio of office workers among total musculoskeletal disorders patients is forecast to increase. In this regard, an effort to prevent and manage such musculoskeletal disorders is required. Method: This research developed evaluation checklist for personal office furniture and apparatus by examining 25 domestic and international ergonomic literature and anthropometric data. This research carried out a fact-finding survey targeting the A Office and B Office of one public agency using the checklist. Results: Although, the checklist items on desks, chairs, computers and other goods conformed to the checklist standards, the following items did not conformed: desk height adjustment, seat board depth adjustment, lumbar support depth, foot rest, wrist rest, mouse tray, headset, speaker phone and Bluetooth. Conclusion: The evaluation checklist for personal office furniture and apparatus and fact-finding survey results are considered to be used as basic data for office work environment and workers' welfare improvement. Application: The information drawn from this research can be helpful to manufacturers' design and manufacture of ergonomic furniture and apparatus.

  • Korea has good mutual relations with Russia and China in many fields, not just in science and technology, but also in trade. That is, it stands on a point of time in which an epoch-making turning point for mutual interests could be realized depending on how to join Russia's high technology with Korea's industrial technology with capital, or how to connect Korean -Chinese mutual concern and each other's advanced technology. The purpose of this study is to present scientific and technical information management policy for efficient su n.0, pport for technical cooperation with Russia and China. Bearing this purpose in mind, the concept of technical cooperation along with scientific and technical information management policy was closely examined. The correlation between the progress of technology and the type of scientific and technical information was examined, while the flow of scientific and technical information accompanying technical cooperation was studied. The methodology adopted for this study includes document research, empirical analysis and fact-finding survey. For document research, the writer analyzed the contents of scientific and technical information managing operations and the types of information to be utilized in the course of technical cooperation by examining domestic and foreign documents on international technical cooperation. For empirical analysis, the contents of actual results of scientific and technical information managing operations for technical cooperation with Russia and China were put in order and analyzed, while contents of survey conducted by organizations related to these countries for technical cooperation were synthesized and examined for fact -finding survey.

  • This study analyses the actual conditions and efficiency of supplier relations of If equipment industries of Korea. The fact-finding survey we conducted includes PCs, mobile phone handsets, and public switching equipments. The survey shows that there is room for improvement in the aspect of assignment of roles among suppliers in R&D activities.

Fact-finding survey on herbicide use in paddy rice at farmer's level (논 제초제 사용에 대한 농가실태조사)

  • A nation-wide fact-finding survey was done to provide the basic information for establishing the rational weed control scheme in paddy rice. A total of 445 respondents including 273 farmers and 172 pesticide dealers was involved in this survey. Dominant weeds in rice paddy field were Echinochloa crus-galli, Eleocharis kuroguwai, Sagittaria pygmaea, Sagittaria trifolia, etc.. Preferred herbicides widely used by farmners were ranked in the following order; butachlor 5GR, pyrazosulfuron-ethyl + molinate 5.07GR, molinate + cinosulfuron 5.08GR, meanwhile, those recommended by pesticide dealers were; pyrazosulfuron-ethyl + molinate 5.07GR, molinate + cinosulfuron 5.08GR, and butachlor 5GR. The guidelines to choose the preferred herbicides was primarily based on the experience, which was occupied about 45%. Approximately 56% of the farmers followed the recommended herbicide dosage and 43% of them applied the herbicides before weed germination (pre-emergence treatment). In addition, most farmers applied herbicides at least two times with systematic application schedule. Application method of granular formulation was broadcasting by hand, while that of sprayable ones was by high-pressure sprayer. Some farmers answered that they had experienced phytotoxicity in the crop by applied herbicides, of which higher experience was observed from the farmers who applied by high-pressure sprayer. It was analyzed significantly that the feasible herbicides to cause phytotoxicity in rice at farmer's level were butachlor 5GR, esprocarb + pyrazosulfuron-ethyl 5.07GR and bensulfuron-methyl + molinate 5.17 GR.

Fact-finding Survey on Occurrence of Paddy Field Weeds and The Use of Paddy Field Herbicides at Farmer's Level in Korea (논잡초 발생양상 및 논 제초제 사용 실태조사)

  • A fact-finding survey was conducted to obtain the basic information on nation-wide weed distribution and farmer's opinions to weed control strategy in paddy field. Most respondents considered Echinochloa spp., Monochloa vaginalis, Sagittaria trifolia, and Scirpus juncoides etc. as dominate weeds in paddy fields. And herbicide resistant weed species were M. vaginalis, S. juncoides, E. oryzicola and S. pygmaea etc. Purchase guidances for herbicide selection, experience of farmers was 34.0% and dealers recommendation was 33.9% at farmer's level. And paddy field herbicides application frequence were one time 15.6% but twice 75.6%. Preferred herbicides were ranked in the following order: oxadizone 12% EC, butachlor 5% GR, butachlor 33% CS, mefenacet pyrazodulfuron-ethyl 21.42% SC, and oxadiargyl 1.7% EC etc. in paddy fields. And in most preferred foliar herbicide were bentazone MCPA 38.6% SL and bentazone cyhalop-butyl 18.5% ME, 48.5% and 22.3%, respectively.

A Study on the Status and Spatial Autocorrelation of Vacant Houses in Jeollabuk-do, South Korea

  • Many houses have been left vacant in cities worldwide due to changes in the economy, society, and urban composition. The increase in vacant houses causes social problems and decrease in the value of real estate. Considering the cost of preparing a new residence because the existing residence no longer functions, it is an important problem to solve empty houses in the existing residence. Accordingly, policy attempts and studies to reduce and utilize vacant houses are in progress in various countries. In South Korea, the ratio of vacant houses was 6.4% of all houses as of 2021, and in Jeolla-buk-do, it was 11.6%, which is higher than the national average. Jeollabuk-do conducted a fact-finding survey on countermeasures against vacant houses; 17,732 vacant houses (2.4%) were surveyed. The urbanization, population, and terrain of Jeollabuk-do, consisting of 14 cities and counties, were considered. The ratios, types, grades, and spatial autocorrelations of vacant houses were analyzed after classification into city areas (focus, small, and medium) and county areas (plains and mountains) areas to derive policies according to the distribution of vacant houses. The average difference in ratio, type, grade, and spatial autocorrelation of vacant houses was used to analyze the characteristics of the distribution of vacant houses according to these classifications. There were significant differences in the averages of the ratios, grades, and spatial autocorrelations between city and county areas. The autocorrelation of vacant house distribution exhibited differences between urban and county areas.

Trend Analysis on the Use of E-Government Services in Korea (우리나라 전자정부서비스 이용 실태 추세 분석)

  • The Korean government has done annual fact-finding surveys on the use of e-government since 2007, but put little effort to analyse and draw implications. We analyzed the trend of the use of e-government in Korea using the survey results of 2012~2015. While the awareness and the user uptake of e-government in Korea have increased steadily, the relative portion and frequency of the use stagnates and falls back. Korean citizens still utilize in-person channel more than e-government channels, and the speed of the transfer from the former to the latter is not fast enough. While more than 95% of the Korean people intend to use the e-government as the main channel in the future, their actual rate of use was 43.2%. We suggest following measures to overcome the troubling situation and increase the uptake of e-government services in Korea through: the expansion of mobile e-government services, strengthening of seamless services, elevation of the level of customization, increasing frequency of using the current e-government services, and raise of the awareness level and the improvement of Korean E-Government Portal.

Analysis of Health and Welfare Support for Children Who Have Ended Protection in Korea - Focused on the case of Cheonan city - (국내 보호종료아동 보건복지 지원실태 분석 -천안시 사례를 중심으로-)

  • According to the 「Child Welfare Act, Article 16(1)」, when the age of a child reaches 18, he or she is discharged from prison. However, in order to prepare an effective support posture from the central government and local governments, a clear fact-finding survey on children who have completed protection is necessary. Therefore, in this study, the most basic questionnaire on housing, health, education, employment, and social relations of children living in Cheonan City after completion of protection is required. An investigation was conducted. As a result, the housing and social relationship of children living in Cheonan city were good compared to children living in Cheonan city compared to children who completed protection nationwide. Therefore, it was found that it is urgent to establish a close cooperation system with related organizations in this regard.

A Comparative Static Study on the Variables' Significance to Urban Quality of Life (도시인의 '삶의 질' 결정요인에 관한 비교정태분석)

  • As a succeeding analysis on the variables' significance to 'Quality of Life(QOL)'(Kim, Dong-Yoon, 2012a), which has a purpose of trying to enhance the intersubjectiveness by means of quantitive methods to find the factors on the QOL, this study aims at finding the time serial change in the deciding factors to deepen the related researches on the theme. Using the similar statistical methods such as multiple regression and factor analysis for "2012 Seoul Survey" this study shows two similar points and one differentia. The similarities include the fact that five subcategories of happiness have relative statistical importance in the order of (1)financial condition, (2)health condition, (3)social activities, (4)community relationship and (5)family life and the fact that the five subcategories are conceptually different from the 5 deciding factors, which means the possibility to improve the survey design. And the difference is the 5 factors such as (1) social trust - amenities, (2)cultural life, (3)social indiscrimination - hope for elevation, (4)sharing - giving and (5)community spirit which are largely different from preceding study. Although only the first two factors have statistical significance this result has a implication that they reflect the new paradigm of social capital and the essential necessity of human survival; sharing-community-culture.

A Survey Study on the Outline of Chinese Seafarers' Education System and the Mechanism of Chinese Overseas Seafarers' Employment (중국의 선원교육제도의 개요와 선원송출조직에 관한 조사연구)

  • Chinese seafarers have begun to be employed by foreign shipowners since 14979. Recognizing the benefits of overseas seafarers employment , Chinese goverment has implemented policy for seafarers' education and supply. Over the past two decades, the goverment has expanded and improved seafarer training facilities. As a result a number of seafarers have been educated, who are now available for employment on Chinese and foreign flag vessels. In 1995, about 20,000 Chinese seafarers served on foregin shipowner's vessels and the total foreign currency they earned was approximately US $300 million. This paper aims to describe the education system for Chinese seafarers and the mechanism of Chinese overseas seafarers employment and to highlight main problems occurred in the mechanism of their overseas employment. It takes the fact-finding research method with literature survey and interview.
