Multiple drug administration is common in elderly, HIV, and cancer patients. Such treatments may result in drug-drug interactions due to interference at the metabolic enzyme level, and due to modulation of transporter protein functions. Both kinds of interference may result in altered drug distribution and toxicity in the human body. In this review, we have dealt with drug-drug interactions related to the most studied human transporter, P-glycoprotein. This transporter is constitutively expressed in several sites in the human body. Its function can be studied in vitro with different cell lines expressing P-glycoprotein in experiments using methods and equipment such as flow cytometry, cell proliferation, cell-free ATP as activity determination and Transwell culture equipment. In vivo experiments can be carried out by mdr1a(-/-) animals and by noninvasive methods such as NMR spectrometry. Some examples are also given for determination of possible drug-drug interactions using the above-mentioned cell lines and methods. Such preclinical studies may influence decisions concerning the fate of new drug candidates and their possible dosages. Some examples of toxicities obtained in clinics and summarized in this review indicate careful consideration in cases of polypharmacy and the requirement of preclinical studies in drug development activities.

인간의 신체는 단순한 육체적 몸을 넘어서 온갖 삶의 역사를 담은 상징체이다. 특히 예술 표현을 위해 신체를 사용하는 수많은 예들을 통해 볼 때, 즉 예술의 대상으로서 신체를 포착하거나, 자신의 생각을 전달하기 위해 신체 행위를 드러내거나 간에 시간과 장소를 포함한 삶의 지시체와 같은 역할을 해왔다. 이러한 신체에 대한 입장은 사실 그리 오래된 관점이 아니다. 1960년대 이래 이성과 사유의 힘을 중심화 하던 모더니즘의 사유 패러다임이 쇠퇴하고 감성과 감각의 중요성이 부각되면서 오랜 동안 정신의 시녀였던 신체가 탈분화적 관점에서 하나의 실체로서 주목하게 되면서부터이다. 이는 현대미술의 흐름에서 1940년대 이후 액션페인팅(Action Painting)에서부터 신체행위의 중요성이 제기되고 1960년대 액셔니즘(Actionism)과 플럭서스(Fluxus)의 빈번한 퍼포먼스(Performance)에서 신체는 표현의 중요한 매체가 되었다. 이브 클랭(Yves Kline)의 신체와 그 흔적에 의한 개념적 작업에서 시작되어, 1970년대 본격화된 바디아트(Body Art)에서 신체는 보다 확고한 예술의 매체로 부각된다. 이후 1980년대 만개한 페미니즘(Feminism)과 1990년대 파편화되고 해체된 신체미술의 경향들로 이어졌다. 이러한 흐름에서 볼 때 신체는 지시적 의미의 단계를 넘어서 개인의 정체성으로부터 세계상을 함축하여 드러낼 수 있는 단서로 간주된다. 특히 1980년대 이후 페미니즘(Feminism)적 경향의 키키 스미스(Kiki Smith)는 신체의 확장된 의미를 제시해주는 대표적 작가들로 그들의 작품을 연구 대상으로 하게 되었다. 이러한 배경 아래 키키스미스의 작품 세계를 고찰하기 위해, 신체를 통해 의미의 지평이 열리는 객관적 방법을 모색한 결과, 기호학과 신체론에 대한 고찰이 필요하다는 사실을 인식하게 되었다. 즉 신체를 객관화하여 가장 기초적인 수준에서 표현적인 부분과 내용적인 부분을 구조적으로 나누어 그 관계에 의해 의미가 발생하게 되는 과정을 기호와 텍스트의 개념에서 시작하였다. 나아가 이 표현면과 내용면의 구조적인 결합방식을 그레마스(A. J. Greimas)의 구조의미론에서 다룸으로써 의미의 확장을 위한 토대론적 작업을 구축하였다. 한편, 신체론에서는 세계와의 관계항으로서 신체를 조망하게 해준 메를로-퐁티(Maurice Merleau-Ponty)의 현상학(Phenomenology)과 애브젝션(abjection)의 개념을 통해 해체와 파편의 신체를 전달하게 해준 줄리아 크리스테바(Julia Kristeva)의 논의가 구조의미론적 분석을 해석으로 확장시키는 데 중요한 기여를 하였다. 키키 스미스는 1980년대 중반 죽음에 대한 서사에서 시작된 이중화와 파편화의 신체로부터 상처받을 수 있는 신체의 비천함이 구체적으로 드러난 1990년대 그리고 상처의 치유에 이르는 종교와 신화로 이어지는 2000년대 이후의 과정을 보여주었다.

Romanticists realized the ideals of a more fantastic and better society for the present day in which they lived; in addition, dress was an important medium of expression of this period. The Incroyables were a group that expressed eccentric forms and abuses of luxury through their clothing, centering around the second generation of financial elite groups during the French Directoire. Incroyables created their own fashion that expresses their new image in dress, expressing the intense personal innerity of life, which was influenced by the romanticism of pursuing an internal expression of the subjective and emotional individual. This study used a literature review to analyze the characteristics of the Romanticism expressed in the Incroyables fashion. The research results were as follows. First, it was an expression of an emotional desire for and ancient regime. Incroyables fashion were based on bourgeois nostalgia for the days of the ancient regime that resulted in an emphasis on individual and original human views. Second, it was also a hybrid of Romantic classicism. It was a form emphasizing body form where body beauty expressed a classical form through a dress under the influence of neo-classicalism that desires to return to nature.

Madeleine Vionnet, a representative designer of the 1920′s, who made prefectly organized clothes with unique formativeness was the first to express fabric in a modern method and was called "The architect of fashion". This is because she developed a three dimensional design by expressing cloth-she rejected corset, should pad, etc-into elegant curved lines that do not stick to the body. By granting meaning to the beauty of the body and its movement in her own unique ways, she emphasized the formativeness in her work and gave shape to creative artistry. Expecially with the "Bias-Cut" she could express the lines of the body more flexibly and could make geometrical styles like the diamond shape dress or the triangle dress more effectively. Using the "Tired Bias cut" and "Handkerchief point" she let the skirt hemline dangle irregularly in geometrical forms, thus showing modern formative sense which forms a three dimensional solidness along the movement of the human body. Thus far, analyzed how the contemporary trend of art was reflected in her designs by studying her work; also investigated through her artistic characteristics and pattern method. Also be tried to find out what can be learned through her artistic view and superb formativeness as a designer.

This study attempted to investigate the plastic characteristics of cyber punk fashion with a focus on fashion in the cyber punk movies in order to inquire into how the influence of the cyber punk taking the lead in the spiritual culture and way of life of the humankind in the 21th century would be expressed in fashion. For this purpose, it sought to analyze the beauty of new fashion creating the cyber environment and identify its contemporary meaning. An attempt was made to investigate the image of cyber punk fashion with a focus on fashion expressed in the cyber punk movies. As a result, the following findings were obtained: First, the image of cyber punk fashion expressed in the cyber punk movies was simplicity, which was to express the modest silhouette and details exclusive of decoration. In addition to clean and smooth gloss, it contained the modest image of resistance', not 'revolt' by borrowing the partial motive and image from existing punk fashion. The change of cyber punk fashion into the characteristic of concise, smooth external appearance brought about the restraint of its image and symbolism as well as its plastic characteristic. Second, it was characterized by the Eroticism nature of emphasizing the body line while expressing the future and modest image or exposing the body. Cyber punk fashion expressed the avant-garde image by using materials that gave a mysterious and future feelings, as well as unsymmetrical silhouette, the slit of body-conscious line, coarse cutting, the method of do-constructing and reconstructing the silhouette, the method of applying diverse underwears such as corset, brassiere and the like. Third, cyber punk fashion was marked by the nature of mined sex. It had the masculine image by using the black color containing the image of masculinity and resistance in female clothing and expressing the suit, coat and military looks giving an masculine impression. And it expressed the image of mixed sexes with the masculine image in male clothing by borrowing feminine images such as body-conscious line, widely cut neckline, floral decoration, leggings and the like. Fourth, cyber punk fashion was marked by naturalness. It was expressed as clothing made from silhouette, knit, cotton and the like in the atmosphere expressing love, comfortableness and truth. This contained the image of naturalness, a return to the primitive, that human being wanted to return to their original figure in the future element. The cyber punk movie may contain a dismal, gloomy future image on the whole, which can be overcome, and shows the possibility that it may grow into the alternative culture, not the revolting culture. The movie of 'The Fifth Element' demonstrates the meaning and role that shows the bright future image. It is thought that designers should make efforts for cyber punk fashion to perform its role in changing the gloomy future image into the bright image of society

Indeterminacy maintains that the simultaneous measurement of object location and speed is theoretically impossible. This study present indeterminacy as a theoretic tool to interpret a variety of expression characteristics that seem disorderly in recent fashion illustrations; in addition, it analyzes the characteristics and meaning of indeterminacy as expressed in fashion illustrations. This study reviews concepts and related theories on indeterminacy to examine characteristics of indeterminacy expressed in the arts and fashion; subsequently, indeterminacy characteristics found in fashion illustrations are analyzed. In expressing the fashion figure, indeterminacy finds expression in a distorted figure transformations that include a hybridized combination of heterogeneous forms that dismantle and reconstruct the human body. The hybridized body of combined machines, animals and plants indicates an indeterminate body endlessly transforming itself. Indeterminate space expression finds expression in space expression by projection with the overlapping and juxtaposition of irrelevant constituent elements as well as a space expression from the insertion of unexpected images. An unclarified inconclusive open space provides space with fluidity, causes space expansion and conveys inconclusive meaning. Indeterminate expressions found in fashion illustrations reveal the ambiguity and complexity of a post-modern society with polysemous aesthetic values and the expanded visual concepts of fashion illustrations.

Surrealism, appeared in the beginning of the 20th century and affected almost all art fields, is one of the most representative art trends. Surrealism, not restricted from any rules and traditions but tried to produce a new appreciations in the world of dream and unconsciousness, also has affected fashion. In this paper, I have tried to find out how the surrealism has been expressed in the modern fashion, especially in Thierry Mugller's design. Thierry Mugler is one of the most famous designers who have expressed surrealism in their fashion designs. I have classified his designs and researched them by the application into the human body and the nature, by the metaphor and transformation of things, and by the metamorphosis of location and an optical illusion. It was based on Depaysement which is one of the ways in surrealistic expressions. The result of the study is followings; First, surrealism made fashion design possible to creat unlimitedly and sublimated it anew modern beauty by attempting the varieties of the fashion, not restricted from any rules and traditions. Second, surrealism made the general public to complete anew recognition and valuation about fashion by expressing the external character and the internal meaning on the clothes. Third, surrealism made people to recognize, which clothes is not simply wearing thing but also one of the art expression forms.

인간은 의사 표현을 위해 음성언어 뿐 아니라 몸짓 언어(body languages)를 많이 사용한다 이 몸짓 언어 중 대표적인 것은, 물론 손과 팔의 사용이다. 따라서 인간 팔의 운동 해석은 인간과 기계의 상호 작용(human-computer interaction)에 있어 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 견지에서 본 논문에서는 다음과 같은 방법으로 컴퓨터비전을 이용한 인간팔의 3차원 자세 추정 방법을 제안하다. 먼저 팔의 운동이 대부분 회전 관절(revolute-joint)에 의해 이루어진다는 점에 착안하여, 컴퓨터 비전 시스템을 활용한 회전 관절의 3차원 운동 해석 기법을 제안한다. 이를 위해 회전 관절의 기구학적 모델링 기법(kinematic modeling techniques)과 컴퓨터 비전의 경사 투영 모델(perspective projection model)을 결합한다. 다음으로, 회전 관절의 3차원 운동해석 기법을 컴퓨터 비전을 이용한 인간 팔의 3차원 자세 추정 문제에 웅용한다. 그 기본 발상은 회전 관절의 3차원 운동 복원 알고리즘을 인간 팔의 각 관절에 순서 데로 적용하는 것이다. 본 알고리즘은 특히 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅(ubiquitous computing)과 가상현실(virtual reality)를 위한 인간-컴퓨터 상호작용(human-computer interaction)이라는 응용을 목표로, 고수준의 정확도를 갖는 폐쇄구조 형태(closed-form)의 해를 구하는데 주력한다.

Traditional costumes have evolved while reflecting the social, cultural and psychological values of the era. Costumes gain meaning by being worn that also allows their various symbolic meanings to be derived. Costumes worn in festivals by specific societies and organizations have especially apparent symbolism pertaining to their purpose. Most countries have traditional festivals that embody the country's distinct culture, history and traditions. These festivals are acts of consciousness expressing a special meaning of the community. Costumes represent a glimpse of life and culture during a festival period; in addition, the costume's style, color elements and decorations are expressions of community values and a distinct symbolic mechanism. Totemism (a significant element of these festivals) has been passed down for many generations. The current costumes for Totemism are distinct (compared to normal festival costumes) and embody a more symbolic meaning. This study deduces the exaggerated style, the concealment and disguise of the human body, and the pursuit of pleasure expressed in the Totemism costumes of regional European festivals. The symbolization theories of C. G. Jung and an analysis of Totemism costumes allow an understanding of their existential significance, their role as the medium between consciousness and unconsciousness, their meaning of symbolic transcendental unity, and their meaning of giving consciousness to the mind.

This study aims to compare the beauty of costume in the Gothic with that of Renaissance periods. By analyzing the beauty of costume which reflects the ideal of the age, this study attempts to provide the insight which can predict the beauty of future costume The characteristics of Gothic costume is the from of the loose enveloping of the body, which can be accounted for from the influence the Christian religion, and the emphasis on the vertical line influenced by the steeple in the Gothic architecture expressing the enthusiasm of the religion. The emphasis on height in the Gothic cathedrals was reflected in the hennin, pointed shoes, and lengthy sleeves of Gothic dress. The beauty of Gothic costume lies in the from of slender, the emphases on the vertical line, the we of heraldry and parti-color, and pointed hat and shoe. The Renaissance architecture shows a broad horizontal appearance. There is the similarity between the Renaissance costume and Renaissance architecture. The beauty of Renaissance costume lies in the form of the exposing body, the exaggerated silhouette, the emphasis on the horizontal line, the use of ruff and slash in order to display the beauty of human body and the beauty of cubic. The ideal beauty of Gothic and Renaissance costume was influenced by the spirit the age and was in contrast.
