  • The unit-water content has a major problem in concrete structures which leads to micro cracks on the concrete during drying time. Thus, the compressive strength and durability of the concrete structures are significantly reduced. Several techniques have been developed to measure the unit-water content in concrete structures such as heating drying, unit volume mass, and capacitance measurements. However, these techniques have problems in during measurement such as longer time, expensive and difficult in analysis of data. Frequency Domain Reflectivity (FDR) is one of the sensors which used to measure the water content. This method has several advantages including easy to measure, inexpensive, and capable of measuring moisture in real time. In this study, an attempt has been made to evaluate the unit-water content in concrete using the FDR sensor and interpret the data with deep learning method.

SDINS에서 의사 자이로 바이어스 보상 기법 (Compensation of Pseudo Gyro Bias in SDINS)

  • The performance of a Strapdown Inertial Navigation System (SDINS) relies heavily on the accuracy of sensor error calibration. Systematic calibration is usually employed when only a 2-axis turntable is available. For systematic calibration, the body frame is commonly defined with respect to sensor axes for ease of computation. The drawback of this approach is that sensor axes may undergo time-varying deflection under temperature change, causing pseudo gyro bias. The effect of pseudo gyro bias on navigation performance is negligible for low grade navigation systems. However, for higher grade systems undergoing rapid temperature change, the error is no longer negligible. This paper describes in detail conditions leading to the presence of pseudo gyro bias, and proposes two techniques for mitigating the error. Experimental results show that applying these techniques improves navigation performance for precision SDINS, especially under rapid temperature change.

Geant 4 Monte Carlo simulation for I-125 brachytherapy

  • This study aims to validate the dosimetric characteristics of Low Dose Rate (LDR) I-125 source Geant4-based Monte Carlo code. According to the recommendation of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) task group report (TG-43), the dosimetric parameters of a new brachytherapy source should be verified either experimentally or theoretically before clinical procedures. The simulation studies are very important since this procedure delivers a high dose of radiation to the tumor with only a minimal dose affecting the surrounding tissues. GEANT4 Monte Carlo simulation toolkit associated brachytherapy example was modified, adapted and several updated techniques have been developed to facilitate and smooth radiotherapy techniques. The great concordance of the current study results with the consensus data and with the results of other MC based studies is promising. It implies that Geant4-based Monte Carlo simulation has the potential to be used as a reliable and standard simulation code in the field of brachytherapy for verification and treatment planning purposes.

실험영화의 구조적 특성 -미국의 구조영화를 중심으로- (Characteristics of Structure in Experimental Film -focused on American Structure film-)

  • 실험영화작가들은 필연적으로 영화가 가진 물리적인 속성과 한계 그리고 영화만의 단독적인 요소들을 자신들의 영화창작의 핵심으로 간주하였다. 관습적인 영화 규범을 거부하는 태도는 영화의 작동원리에 대한 새로운 관심을 통해서도 강화되었다. 실험영화작가들은 영화의 메커니즘이 어떤 방식으로 영화의 최종 결과물에 영향을 주는지에 대해 질문하였다. 실험영화에서는 극영화의 내러티브에 상응하는 '특정한 전개 구조' 필요하고 이를 위해서 현재의 시점에서 이미지의 흐름에 주목하였다. 움직임의 환영을 만들어 내는 이미지의 연쇄 개념은 다양한 영화적 실험을 가능하게 하였다. 특히, 미국의 구조영화작가들은 이미지들이 연속적으로 움직이는 방식을 변형시킴으로써 관습적인 극영화와는 다른 영화의 의미와 정서를 전달하는 방법들을 모색하였다. 이를 통해서 관습적인 내러티브의 성격과 기능에 대해 문제를 제기하고 새로운 영화전개방식에 대해 탐구하였다. 이러한 구조영화의 전통은 실험영화를 이해하는 핵심적인 개념이며 디지털 영화제작 환경으로 변모하고 있는 오늘날에도 여전히 유용한 접근방식이다.

노먼 맥라렌의 실험적 애니메이션과 움직임 표현 연구 (A Study on the Experimental Animation and Movement Expression of Norman McLaren)

  • 실험애니메이션은 실험정신 그 자체로 독립 예술애니메이션이자 작가주의적 실험정신으로 집약된 영상예술이다. 특히 노먼 맥라렌은 뛰어난 창의력과 감성으로 시각적 표현 기술에 대한 과학적 탐구와 상식을 초월한 실험을 통해 작품마다 독창적인 조형미를 추구하며 오늘날 영상매체의 혁신을 불러온 실험애니메이션의 거장으로써 애니메이션 작품의 미학적 가치는 매우 높다. 그러므로 다양한 기법의 도전으로 실험애니메이션의 영역을 확장하고 각 프레임 사이에서 일어나는 움직임 창조에 관한 끊임없는 탐구를 수행했던 노먼 맥라렌의 실험적 표현 방식을 분석하고 그가 집중한 움직임의 표현을 연구하는 것은 의미가 있다. 그 결과 그의 움직임 표현의 가장 큰 특징은 운동성의 반복과 변형의 반복으로 분석되었으며 이러한 도출이 실험 방식에 대한 단순 의문보다는 보다 구체적인 형태의 탐구가 요구되는 실험 방식의 실험애니메이션으로 이해되길 바란다. 또한 대학교육에서 애니메이션 창작의 가능성과 나아갈 방향을 심층적으로 모색하기 위한 선행 연구로 의미가 있기를 바란다.

2003년부터 2005년까지 안이비인후피부과 학회지에 게재된 논문들의 통계적 분석 방법에 대한 고찰 (The consideration for methods of statistical analysis about the thesis published in the journal of korean oriental medical Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology & Dermatology from 2003 to 2005)

  • Objective : This study was carried out to investigate what type of assumption and conditions are needed for the application of various statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, correlation analysis, regression analysis and chi-square test and to evaluate that they are used correctly in the research process. Methods : One more methods of statistical analysis were used in 91 papers among 162 papers selected from the journal of Korean oriental medical Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology & Dermatology from April 2003 to December 2005. So we analysed the type of statistical analysis method in 91 papers(clinical and experimental study) and assessed the their validity of statistical techniques by the check list consisting of 34 items(3 items for validity assessment of descriptive statistics, 6 items for t-test, 7 items for analysis of variance, correlation analysis and regression analysis, respectively, 4 items for chi-square test) Results : 1. The type of 65(40%) cases is experimental trial, the type of 55(34%) cases is case report, the type of 26(16%) cases is clinical trial and the type of 16(10%) cases is review, in 91 papers using statistical techniques among 162 papers selected from the journal of Korean oriental medical Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology & Dermatol-ogy from April 2003 to December 2005. 2. One more methods of statistical analysis were used in the experimental and clinical study. When we classified 125 units using statistical analysis methods in 91 papers according to statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, correlation analysis, regression analysis and chi-square test, the number of independent sample t-test is 33(26%), the number of only descriptive statistics is 28(22%), the number of independent sample t-test is 33(26%), the number of only descriptive statistics is 28(22%), the number of one way ANOVA is 15(12%), the number of non-parametric test 10(8%). 3. After carrying out one way ANOVA, the number of using multiple comparison methods is 15(Scheffe:6(26%), Duncan:4(17%), Dunnett:3(13%), Tukey:2(9%)) out of 23 (total case carrying out one way ANOVA). 8(35%) out of 23 did not enforce multiple comparison methods after carrying out one way ANOVA. 4. From the assessment of validity about 63 cases using statistical techniques(except descriptive statistics), 5(8%) cases are proper, the other 58(92%) are improper, so we recognized a serious misuse of statistical application in our journal. 5. The number of case below 10 sample size in experimental and clinical study(except descriptive statistics) is 31(34%) and frequent. Also the number of case containing no mention of sample size is 41(45%, including culture study). 6. For example of statistical error, there are wrong choice of statistical technique, lack of check on standard assumption(such as standard distribution, equivariance, independence), and so on. Conclusions : We investigated the validity of statistical analysis methods in our journal by check list consisting of 34 items and suggested correct statistical analysis methods. We should practice the spread of education about statistical analysis methods and precis application, enhance objectivity and reliability of our thesis and further correspond with purpose of scientific study.

뇌졸중 환자의 무릎관절과 발목관절에 비탄력테이핑 적용이 근활성도와 균형 및 보행에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Incorporating Non-elastic Taping into PNF Techniques on Muscle Activities, Balance, and Gait in Patients with Chronic Stroke)

  • PURPOSE: The study examined the effects of non-elastic taping on the knee and ankle joints of stroke patients to increase muscle activity, balance and gait ability. METHODS: In this study, 10 stroke patients were assigned to experimental group (knee and ankle joint non-elastic taping and PNF technique) and control group (PNF technique). The experimental group applied the PNF technique for 30 minutes after attaching the inelastic tape, and the control group performed the PNF technique for 30 minutes. five times a week for a total of four weeks (20 times). RESULTS: The muscle activity of Vastus Medialis and Tiblialis Anterior showed significant differences between the experimental and control groups. BBS and 10MWT also showed significant differences between the experimental and control groups. CONCLUSION: In this study, the muscle activity, balance and walking on the paraplegic side of stroke patients using inelastic taping, and applied inelastic taping on two joints in a different way from the previous study, Therefore, it will have the advantage of increasing paralysis side muscle activity and improving balance and walking ability.

소듐냉각고속로 부수로 해석코드 검증을 위한 37봉다발 실험방법 개념 개발 (Experimental Methodology Development for SFR Subchannel Analysis Code Validation with 37-Rods Bundle)

  • The 4th generation SFR is being designed with a milestone of construction by 2028. It is important to understand the subchannel flow characteristics in fuel assembly through the experimental investigations and to estimate the calculation uncertainties for insuring the confidence of the design code calculation results. The friction coefficient and the mixing coefficient are selected as primary parameters. The two parameters are related to the flow distribution and diffusion. To identify the flow distribution, an iso-kinetic method was developed based on the previous study. For the mixing parameters, a wire mesh system and a laser induced fluorescence methods were developed in parallel. The measuring systems were adopted on 37 rod bundle test geometry, which was developed based on the Euler number scaling. A scaling method for a design of experimental facility and the experimental identification techniques for the flow distribution and mixing parameters were developed based on the measurement requirement.

Numerical and experimental analysis of a 3D printed Savonius rotor with built-in extension plate

  • In this study, the enhancement of the conventional Savonius wind rotor performance with extension plate has been investigated experimentally and numerically. Experimental models used in the study have been produced with 3D (three dimensional) printing, which is one of the rapid prototyping techniques. Experiments of produced Savonius wind rotor models have been carried out in a wind tunnel. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analyses have been performed under the same experimental conditions to ensure that experiments and numerical analyses are supported to each other. An additional extension plate has been used in order to enhance the performance of the conventional Savonius wind rotor with a gap distance between blades. It can be called modified Savonius rotor or Savonius rotor with built-in extension plate. Thus, the performance of the rotor has been enhanced without using additional equipment other than the rotor itself. Numerical and experimental analyses of Savonius wind rotor models with extension plate have been carried out under predetermined boundary conditions. It has been found that the power coefficient of the modified Savonius rotor is increased about 15% according to the conventional Savonius rotor.

모유수유 교육이 초산모의 모유수유 방법, 태도 및 지속정도에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Breast-feeding Education on Method, Attitude, and Duration of Breast-feeding by Primipara)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of breast-feeding education on skills, attitude, and duration of breast-feeding among primipara mothers. The educational session was offered during the period of June through September at the T medical center in T city. One hundred thirteen primiparas were selected for this study, 61 who received breast-feeding education(lecture, demonstration, and additional telephone counselling) served as the experimental group and 52 who did not as the control. Data collection was done by self-reporting method. the reliability of the instrument was from .77 to .87. Duration of breast-feeding was classified into I through V according to the WHO classification at the time point of 4 weeks of postpartum. The results were as follows : 1. The score for the experimental group on the skills of breast-feeding techniques was significantly higher than those of the control(t=9.12, p=.000). 2. The score for the experimental group in the attitude toward breast-feeding was significantly higher than those of the control(t=6.12, p=.000). 3. Duration of breast-feeding for the experimental group was significantly longer than that of the control at the time of 4 weeks of postpartum($x^2$=20.79, p=.001). In conclusion, the breast-feeding practice can be promoted effectively through the breast-feeding education.
