  • This paper presents testing and self-calibration of RF circuits using MEMS switches to identify process-related defects and out of specification circuits. We have developed a novel multi-tone dither test technique where the test stimulus is generated by modulating the RF carrier signal with a multi-tone signal generated using an Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) with additive white Gaussian noise. This test stimulus is provided as input to the RF circuit and peak-to-average ratio (PAR) is measured at the output. For a faulty circuit, a significant difference is observed in the value of PAR as compared to a fault-free circuit. Simulation is performed for various circuit conditions such as fault-free as well as fault-induced and their corresponding PARs are stored in the look-up table. This testing and self-calibration technique is exhaustive and efficient for present-day communication systems.

  • ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) has been more popular but ITS project managements remain complex because of diverse stakeholders and multidisciplinary processes of ITS. The multidisciplinary process enforces specialized competencies on ITS project managers comparing to other system integration project managers. In this paper, we derived core competencies of ITS projects from previous researches, built the hierarchy of the competencies, and employed AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) surveying ITS project managers and auditors with the hierarchy. Finally, we analyzed the difference of evaluation model on ITS project manager between project managers and auditors using Mann-Whitney U test. Additionally we suggest a method of building MECE (Mutually Exclusive and Collectively Exhaustive) structure for AHP using the HoQ (House of Quality). We expect our model to give some inspirations for raising capable ITS project managers and selecting a proper project manager for an ITS project.

  • This paper analyzes the performance of a Bluetooth piconet in error-prone environments. A statistical characterization of a waiting time, an end-to-end delay, and a goodput are derived analytically in terms of the arrival rates, the number of slaves, and the packet error rate (PER). For simplicity, half-symmetric piconet is assumed in this analysis. Both exhaustive and limited scheduling are considered. The analytic results are validated by simulations.

  • In this paper, a motion estimation module is made with ADSP-21020 based on MPEG-2 which is an international standard for moving picture compression. And, the block matching algorithm used as motion estimation method is easy for an hardware implementation. The ADSP-21020 of Analog Device is used for a main control processor. We used three block matching method (exhaustive search method, 2D-logarithmic search method, three step search method) for software simulation and implemented the three step search method to hardware. For the test of the estimation module, we used ping pong image sequences and mobile and calendar image sequences.

  • In this work a new method for on-line scene segmentation is developed. In remote sensing a scene is represented by the pixel-oriented features. It is possible to reduce data redundancy by an unsupervised segment-feature extraction process, where the segment-features, rather than the pixelfeatures, are used for multispectral scene representation. The algorithm partitions the observation space into exhaustive set of disjoint segments. Then, pixels belonging to each segment are characterized by segment features. Illustrative examples are presented, and the performance of features is investigated. Results show an average compression more than 25, the classification performance is improved for all classes, and the CPU time required for classification is reduced by the same factor.

  • The saphenous vein has been the principal conduit for coronary bypass grafting from the beginning, circa 1970. This report briefly traces this history and concomitantly presents one surgeons experience and personal views on use of the vein graft. As such it is not exhaustive but meant to be practical with a modest number of references. The focus is that of providing guidance and perspective which may be at variance with that of others and recognizing that there may be many ways to accomplish the task at hand. Hopefully the surgeon in training/early career may find this instructive on the journey to surgical maturity.

  • In this paper, we propose a differential fault analysis on symmetry structured SPN block cipher proposed in 2008. The target algorithm has the SPN structure and a symmetric structure in encryption and decryption process. To recover the 128-bit secret key of the target algorithm, this attack requires only one random byte fault and an exhaustive search of $2^8$. This is the first known cryptanalytic result on the target algorithm.

  • Software maintenance is one of the major activities of the software development life cycle. Due to the time and cost constraint it is not possible to perform exhaustive regression testing. Thus, there is a need for a technique that selects and prioritizes the effective and important test cases so that the testing effort is reduced. In an analogous study we have proposed a new variable based algorithm that works on variables using the hybrid technique. However, in the real world the programs consist of multiple modules. Hence, in this work we propose a regression testing algorithm that works on interprocedural programs. In order to validate and analyze this technique we have used various programs. The result shows that the performance and accuracy of this technique is very high.

  • The objective of this paper is to compare the prediction performances of different landslide hazard maps based on topographic data stemming from different sources of elevation. The geostatistical framework of kriging, which can properly integrate spatial data with different accuracy, is applied for generating more reliable elevation estimates from both sparse elevation spot heights and exhaustive ASTER-based elevation values. A case study from Boeun, Korea illustrates that the integration of elevation and slope maps derived from different data yielded different prediction performances for landslide hazard mapping. The landslide hazard map constructed by using the elevation and the associated slope maps based on geostatistical integration of spot heights and ASTER-based elevation resulted in the best prediction performance. Landslide hazard mapping using elevation and slope maps derived from the interpolation of only sparse spot heights showed the worst prediction performance.
