  • Lightweight materials using in-situ clay soil contain large amounts of fine grain and cement for increasing the strength, lighter weight to increase liquidity for the foam and the bulk of the material is conducted by the water. Domestic cases, Light weight soil to improve cementation and lightness using demountable mixing device is defined Smartsoil. Typical features are their self-leveling, self-compaction, folwability. By adjusting the amount of cement, the strength can be controlled artificially. And re-excavation is easy. In this paper, pre-loading method using the road due to the displacement of adjacent structures under construction as an alternative SmartSoil introduces the design and construction practices. Is to discuss and improve.

  • Den have been many construction projects in urban n We have a lot of problems which have to be solved especially against residence complaints existing building damage due to construction worts. We sometimes have to pay a certain amount of cost to solve the above problem, not in planning. In addition to, we have to suffer from work delay due to confronting problem. Almost all of these are due to blasting work to break solid rock to be excavated. Therefore, this study is focused on finding out how to reduce noise more cheaply. Four cases(4) as cheaper but more effective way have been tested to find out which way of local fence will have better moise reduce function in a field site. Where five(5) large breakers are being operated. It is concluded that more form and shape of local movable panel than the site of panel can be influenced on noise reduce.

  • The main purpose of this study is to investigate the failure surface in a soil mass by a excavation of the model ground. The failure mechanism of an earth structure is usually determined from field failure observations or from laboratory model tests at failure. To study the failure surface for the excavated slope, laboratory model tests were performed by changing the angle of the excavated slope and the ground condition. Results of the laboratory model tests were compared with those obtained with theoretical solutions using limit equilibrium analysis method. The results of model tests show that, there is a failure to create a straight line in the low angle of excavated surface and a create a circle as the angle increases. As the angle of excavated surface is increasing, the angle of the failure surface increases too. In the angle of the failure surface, the submerged ground is less than the dry ground at $3.2^{\circ}$.

  • This study aimed to develop upper and lower bounds to predict the tunnel support pressure under the pile tip during the circular tunnel excavation. Most previous studies on the upper and lower bound methods were carried out for the single ground structures, e.g., retaining wall, foundation, ground anchor and tunnel, in the homogeneous ground conditions, since the pile-soil-tunnel interaction problem is very complicated and sophisticated to solve using those bound methods. Therefore, in the lower bound approach two appropriate stress fields were proposed for single pile and tunnel respectively, and then they were superimposed. In addition, based on the superimposition several failure mechanisms were proposed for the upper bound solution. Finally, these upper bound mechanisms were examined by shear strain data from the laboratory model test and numerical analysis using finite element method.

  • The 2nd phase of Seoul Subway, Lines 5,6,7 and 8, is in progress. To reduce the surface traffic congestion during construction the greater part of the system has been engineered by bored tunnelling. The current tunnelling methodology is based on the New Austrian Tunnelling Method. Serveral collapses have been reported to date. Most of the collapses took place in the area forwed with soft ground. The modes and causes of the collapses were progressive failures in the unsupported surface and sliding failures due to the unfavourable joint direction. The major causes turned out to be the weakness of ground and the sudden influx of ground water from the surface. Some measures to prevent the failures are also presented. To ensure the safe tunnelling ghrough the soft ground the unsupported excavation area has to be minimized and closed as early as possible. Additional support measures such as supporting core, sealing shotcrete, forepoling, spread footing, face rock bolting and grouting should be employed as well depend on ground conditions.

  • The introduction of geodetic methods of absolute displacement monitoring in tunnels has improved the value of the measurements significantly. By using this method, structurally controlled behavior and influences of an anisotropic rock mass can be determined and the excavation and support adjusted accordingly. In this study cases of tunnel monitoring in anisotropic/heterogeneous rock masses are analyzed, and various anisotrpic behavior of tunnel can be estimated. Because rock anisotropy and heterogeneity can have great influence on tunnel behavior, tunnel design considering rock anisotropy and heterogeneity is needed. Also under construction, feedback must be performed by using face mapping and monitoring to prevent over-deformation and tunnel collapse.

  • In this paper, the theoretical method of measuring the tunnel convergence and underground displacement, the objective indices of assessing safety for tunnel construction, using the fiber optic sensor is studied by developing the program to automatically measure them. The model test of Con'c beam is conducted to evaluate reliability of the fiber optic sensor. Furthermore, using the RS232 communication protocol as well as Visual C# and Visual C++, the programming tools, the program was developed to detect automatically the measured value of the fiber optic sensor, calculate the tunnel convergence and underground displacement, predict the deformed shape of the tunnel, and evaluate loosening zone due to the tunnel excavation.
