The Bacterial community structure and its complexity of the enrichment culture during the isolation and screening of imidacloprid-degrading strain were studied using denaturating gradient gel electrophoresis analysis. The dominant bacteria in the original tea rhizosphere soil were uncultured bacteria, Rhizobium sp., Sinorhizobium, Ochrobactrum sp., Alcaligenes, Bacillus sp., Bacterium, Klebsiella sp., and Ensifer adhaerens. The bacterial community structure was altered extensively and its complexity reduced during the enrichment process, and four culturable bacteria, Ochrobactrum sp., Rhizobium sp., Geobacillus stearothermophilus, and Alcaligenes faecalis, remained in the final enrichment. Only one indigenous strain, BCL-1, with imidacloprid-degrading potential, was isolated from the sixth enrichment culture. This isolate was a gram-negative rod-shaped bacterium and identified as the genus Ochrobactrum based on its morphological, physiological, and biochemical properties and its 16S rRNA gene sequence. The degradation test showed that approximately 67.67% of the imidacloprid (50 mg/l) was degraded within 48 h by strain BCL-1. The optimum conditions for degradation were a pH of 8 and $30^{\circ}C$. The simulation of imidacloprid bioremediation by strain BCL-1 in soil demonstrated that the best performance in situ (tea soil) resulted in the degradation of 92.44% of the imidacloprid (100 mg/g) within 20 days, which was better than those observed in the ex situ simulations that were 64.66% (cabbage soil), 41.15% (potato soil), and 54.15% (tomato soil).
A study on the remediation of heavily for ion contaminated soils from abandoned iron mine was carried out, using ex-situ extraction process. Also, oxalic acid as a complex agent was evaluated as a function of concentration, reaction time and mixing ratio of washing agent in order to evaluate Fe removability of the soil contaminated from the abandoned iron mine. Oxalic acid showed a better extraction performance than 0.1N-HCl, i.e., the concentrations of Fe ion extracted from the abandoned mine for the former at uncontrolled pH and the latter were 1,750 ppm and 1,079 ppm, respectively. The optimum washing condition of oxalic acid was in the ratio of 1:5 and 1:10 between soil and acid solution during l hr reaction. The total concentrations of Fe ion by oxalic acid and EDTA at three repeated extraction, were 4,554 ppm and 864 ppm, respectively. The recovery of Fe ions from washing solution was achieved, forming hydroxide precipitation and metal sulfide under excess of calcium hydroxide and sodium sulfide. In addition, the amounted of sodium sulfide and calcium hydroxide for the optimal revovery of Fe were 15g/$\ell$ and 5g/$\ell$ from the oxalic acid complexes, respectively.
Bioprocess chromatography is probably the most widely used unit operation in biopharmaceutics manufacturing. To obtain a good quality product reproducibly, the chromatography process validation should be performed carefully. We developed a miniaturized automatic chromatography system, MiniValChrom, for column performance validation.

Chemical mechanical polishing(CMP) process depends on a variety of variables. Especially, surface roughness of pad plays a key role in material removal in CMP in terms of transportation ability of pores and real contact area. The surface roughness is deteriorated with polishing time by applied pressure and relative velocity. In this reason, diamond conditioner has been used to maintain the roughness on the pad. The authors try to investigate the correlation between pad roughness and frictional behavior by comparing ex-situ conditioning with in-situ conditioning.
The physical characteristics of soot near the soot inception point were investigated with various measurements. In-situ measurements of particle size and volume fraction were introduced based on time resolved laser-induced incandescence (TIRE-LII) and laser-induced ion mobility (LIIM). The one has more convenience and accuracy than conventional LII technique and the other works best for particle sizes of a few nanometers at high concentrations in a uniform concentration field. A complementary ex-situ measurement of particle size is nano differential mobility analyzer (Nano-DMA), which recently developed for measuring particle sizes between 2nm and 100nm and provides high-resolution size information for early soot. Particles will be also collected on transmission electron microscope (TEM) grids using rapid thermophoretic sampling and analyzed for morphology. These measurements will allow fresh and original insight into the characterizing soot inception process. The measured physical properties of incipient soot will clarify the controlling growth mechanism combined with chemical ones, and the dominant mechanism for soot modeling can be deduced from the information.

Rreactivity of persulfate (PS) for oxidation of TCE under various conditions such as heat, $Fe^{2+}$, and UV was investigated. It was found that degradation rate of TCE increased with increasing temperature from 15 to $35^{\circ}C$. At pH 7.0, the rate constants (k) at 15, 25, 30, and $35^{\circ}C$ were 0.07, 0.30, 0.74, and $1.30h^{-1}$, respectively. For activation by $Fe^{2+}$, removal efficiency of TCE increased with increasing $Fe^{2+}$ concentration from 1.9 mM to 11 mM. The maximum removal efficiency of TCE was approximately 85% when pH of the solution dropped from 7.0 to 2.5. Degradation of TCE by UV-activated PS was the most effective, showing that the degradation rate of TCE increased with inreasing PS dosage; the rate constants (k) at 0.5, 2.5, and 10 mM were 34.2, 40.5, and $55.9h^{-1}$, respectively. Our results suggest that PS activation by UV/PS process could be the most effective in activation processes tested for TCE degradation. For oxidation process by PS, however, pH should be observed and adjusted to neutral conditions (i.e., 5.8-8.5) if necessary.

Thin films of phase-pure perovskite (P $b_{0.72}$L $a_{0.28}$) $Ti_{0.93}$$O_3$(PLT) were deposited in-situ onto Pt/Ti/ $SiO_2$/Si substrates by pulsed laser deposition. We have systematically investigated the variation of grain sizes depending on the process condition. Both in-situ annealing and ex-situ annealing treatments have been compared depending on the annealing time. Two-step process to grow (P $b_{0.72}$L $a_{0.28}$) $Ti_{0.93}$$O_3$(PLT) films was adopted and verified to be useful to enlarge the grain size of the film and to enhance the leakage current characteristics. The grain sizes of PLT thin films were successfully controlled 260 to 350 nm by changing process parameters. Electrical properties including dielectric constant, ferroelectric characteristics, crystallization and leakage current of PLT thin films were shown to be strongly inf1uenced by grain size. Also PLT thin films on p-type(100) Si substrate will be fabricated by pulsed laser deposition technique using a Nd:YAG laser with different wavelengths of 355, 532 and 1064 nm. Effect of the variation of laser wavelength on dielectric properties will be discussed. Microstructural and electrical properties of the film were investigated by C-V measurement leakage current measurement and SEM.ent and SEM.

Ferroelectric thin film capacitors with high dielectric constant are important for the application of memory devices. In this work, We have systematically investigated the variation of grain sizes depending on the process condition of two-step process. Both in-situ annealing and ex-annealing have been compared depending on the annealing time. C-V measurement, ferroelectric properties, leakage current, XRD and SEM were performed to investigate the electircal properties and microstructural properties of Pb(La, Ti)O$_3$ films.
A possibility of work function engineering on ZnO thin film is studied by in-situ and ex-situ doping process. The work function of ZnO thin film decreases with increasing boron and phosphorus doping quantity. But, the work function of Al-doped ZnO (AZO) thin film increases as the boron doping quantity incresess. The range of work function change on ZnO thin films is 3.5 eV to 5.5 eV. This result shows that the work function of ZnO thin film is indeed engineerable by changing materials of dopants and their compositional distribution of surface. We also discuss the possible mechanism of work function engineering on ZnO thin films.

Understanding of the detailed reaction mechanisms during MOVPE and ALE is essential to further improve the properties of the grown crystals and the controllability of the growth parameters. The unified models for the detailed reaction paths are not available at this stage. The study, however, has been advanced to the extent that consensus on some of the reaction paths can be drawn from the scattered data. Metalakyls such as TMGa and TMIn seem to nearly fully decompose in the gas phase through homogeneous reaction at the typical MOVPE growth temperature. Hydrides such as AsH3 and PH3, on the contrary. seem to decompose heterogeneously onthe substrate surfaces as well as homogeneously in the gas phase. However, at lower temperatures, where ALE crystals are typically grown, the growth process is strongly dependent on the surface reactions. It seems that steric hindrance effects which the radicals reaching the substrate exhibit on the surface the growth rate a function of the metalalkyle supply durations. In addition, dydrogens released from hydrides seem to play an essential role in removing carbons leberated from the metalalkyls. High growth temperatures also seem to be effective in desorbing carbons from surface. The understanding of the reaction mechanisms was possible though diverse appraaches utilizing many ex-situ and in-situ diagnostic techniques and genuine experimental designs. It is the purpose of this paper to review and discuss many of these efforts and to draw some possible conclusions from them.
