Implementation of Location-Based Traffic Information Service System (위치기반 교통정보 서비스 시스템 구현)

  • This paper suggested a location-based traffic information service system using TPEG and GIS. Measurement technique, location server, applied service technique, and linkage technique with database were used to provide the location-based traffic information service. In particular, TPEG-RTM includes location information and load traffic message. The location information to be included in each message displayed a specific point, section or region limit of the load. Actually, because it was impossible to receive data using TPEG receiver, a proposed program included in this paper was used to produce an arbitrary database and read it, Also, TPEG event happened time was indicated on the map for matching test of a TPEG message and WGS84 coordinate, and finally it was verified with art example of a vehicle approaching to an event happened place.

Policy-Based QoS Management for SLA-Driven Adaptive Routing

  • This paper proposes a policy-based quality of service (QoS) management framework for adaptive routing decisions. We present an approach considering interior gateway protocol (IGP) for path discovery mechanisms and QoS-aware policies for configuring the network elements. The integration of the aforementioned modules into this policy-based network management (PBNM) system is demonstrated by conducting experiments in a real environment, the hellenic public administration network SYZEFXIS. These experiments combine different traffic conditioning mechanisms through event detectors, consider IP service level agreement mechanisms that interoperate with the PBNM system and analyze the enforcement of IGP and QoS policies. Finally, validation and measurement tools are used to prove the efficiency of this framework. It is shown that this architecture offers significantly increased performance and learning capabilities, while the PBNM system achieves adaptive QoS routing through automated configuration considering the avoidance of suboptimal routing issues or under-performance conditions of the network entities.

  • New exercise technology such as the virtual reality (VR)-based exercise system is required to meet soaring demand for target participants in exercises and to alleviate the difficulties in personnel mobilization through an alternative approach to the exercise system. In a previous study, event tree methodologies were introduced in setting up an exercise scenario of a VR-based radiological exercise system. In the scenario, the locations at which major events occur are rephrased as nodes, routes as paths, and public response actions as protective actions or contents of an exercise at individual locations. In the study, a model for estimating effective doses to the participants is proposed to evaluate the exercise system, using the effective dose rates at particular times and locations derived from a computer program. The effective dose received by a student when she/he follows a successful route is about a half of the dose received when she/he does not follow the exercise guide directions. In addition, elapsed time to finish an exercise when following a successful route is less than one-third of the time spent to finish an exercise when following the guide's directions.

Virtual Force(VF)-based Disaster Monitoring Network Using Multiple UAVs (대규모 공중무인기를 이용한 가상력 기반 재난 감시 네트워크)

  • In this paper, we consider a cooperative monitoring network, which consists of a large number of UAVs, in order to promptly detect event in a disaster area. A command center may not be able to control each UAV individually due to resource constraints. Therefore, UAVs need to autonomously construct a mobile monitoring network in order to maximize monitoring coverage and to adapt the network formation according to environment changes in the disaster area. To that end, we propose multiple UAVs-based cooperative monitoring schemes that uses virtual forces. In this monitoring scheme, an effective monitoring is enabled by extending monitoring coverage using each UAV's circle movements. The UAVs-based monitoring network can also be splitted or merged in order to increase the monitoring effectiveness. Through simulations, we show that the proposed scheme can effectively monitor a large area and achieve a high event detection ratio.

  • It expected a lot of changes in mass media and documentation expression as documents on web are getting diverse, complex and massive. An Annals of The Chosun Dynasty is a very important document used for researching historical facts and is published as CD-Rom. However. The CD-Rom was composed as content-based and using simple search method, therefore it's very difficult to make determine event-relationship between documents factors. Because of that, we studied to discover event-relationship between documents through clustering and efficient similarity method among Annals of The Chosun Dynasty. For the research method, we discovered the best similarity method for historical written documents through simulation similarity measures of Annals of The Chosun Dynasty documents. Then we did simulation-clustering documents based on similarity probability. In evaluation of the clustered documents , the results were the same as when manually figured.

Human Activity Recognition using Model-based Gaze Direction Estimation (모델 기반의 시선 방향 추정을 이용한 사람 행동 인식)

  • In this paper, we propose a method which recognizes human activity using model-based gaze direction estimation in an indoor environment. The method consists of two steps. First, we detect a head region and estimate its gaze direction as prior information in the human activity recognition. We use color and shape information for the detection of head region and use Bayesian Network model representing relationships between a head and a face for the estimation of gaze direction. Second, we recognize event and scenario describing the human activity. We use change of human state for the event recognition and use a rule-based method with combination of events and some constraints. We define 4 types of scenarios related to the gaze direction. We show performance of the gaze direction estimation and human activity recognition with results of experiments.

  • SIP-based tightly coupled conference, which has a centrally located conference server for controlling and management, can be classified several models according to location of focus and mixer. These are centralized server model, endpoint server model, media server component model and distributed mixing model. However each model has its strength and weakness. In this paper, we propose and implement a SIP-based effective hybrid-type conference model which decreases amount of SIP signaling messages, lowers load of server media mixer, and can be easily expandable to large scale conference. In this model, when the number of participants exceeds a pre-defined limit, the conference server selects some participants which posses specific functions and let them share functions of notifications of conference state event package and media mixing. When each participant subscribes conference state event package to the server, it can indicates its possession of such functions by a specific header message. The server stores the indication to the conference information database, and later uses it to select participants for load sharing. The performance of our proposed model is evaluated by experiments.

  • Previous researches on mining sequential patterns mainly focused on discovering patterns from the point-based event. Interval events with a time interval occur in the real world that have the start and end point. Existing interval pattern mining methods that discover relationships among interval events based on the Allen operators have some problems. These are that interval patterns having three or more interval events can be interpreted as several meanings. In this paper, we propose the I_TPrefixSpan algorithm, which is an efficient sequence pattern mining technique for removing ambiguity in the Interval Patterns Mining. The proposed algorithm generates event sequences that have no ambiguity. Therefore, the size of generated candidate set can be minimized by searching sequential pattern mining entries that exist only in the event sequence. The performance evaluation shows that the proposed method is more efficient than existing methods.

  • Location-based services play an important role in many applications such as disaster warning systems and recommendation systems. These applications often require not only location information (e.g., name, latitude, longitude, etc.) but also the impact of events (e.g., earthquake, typhoon, etc.) on locations. Recently, to provide the impact of an event on a location, how to calculate location trustiness by using multimodal information such as earthquake information and disaster sensor data is researched. In the previous approach, the linear decrement of impact value of an event is applied to obtain the location trustiness of a specific location. In this paper, we propose a new approach to enrich location trustiness, that is, the impact of an event on a location, by using social media information additionally. Firstly, we design a collecting system for earthquake information and social media data. Secondly, we present an approach of location trustiness calculation based on earthquake information. Finally, we propose a new approach to enrich location trustiness by augmenting the trustiness in spatially distributed manner based on social media.

  • The problem of social phenomenon is getting more complicated than past decades, and the simulation engineers need more computation power to solve the problem. Therefore, the needs of the computational resources of the modeling and simulation environment are increasing. In the perspective of the simulation, it is necessary to allocate computational resources flexibly so that the simulation can be performed per the available budget range. As an alternative to the simulation environment to accommodate these requirements, cloud service has emerged as an environment in which computing resources can be used flexibly. This paper proposes a web-based simulation framework which consists of a front-end that reconstructs the simulation model using the web, and a back-end that executes the discrete event simulation. This paper also carried out a case study which shows web-based simulation framework has better overall runtime than standalone simulation framework.
