  • A simple algorithm that can be used to estimate a healthy person's blood pressure using pulse transit time is proposed in this paper. Fifty healthy students participated in the experiment that was conducted in line with the study. The subjects were asked to exercise on several exercise levels using a bicycle ergometer. Their blood pressures during the succeeding rest period were measured. A simple method was proposed to illustrate the relationship between blood pressure and pulse transit time. The systolic blood pressures as well as the heights and weights of the subjects were regarded as the proper parameters, and a second-order regression curve was produced to estimate the subjects' blood pressures. The mean error of estimation was less than 10 mmHg, which was the mean error of manual measurement. Although our estimation model is so simple, it can be used to estimate continuous blood pressure measurement for bicycle ergometer exercise. The electrocardiograms, photoplethysmograms, and blood pressures, however, could not be measured simultaneously As such, their estimation may be slightly different from the results taken from simultaneous measurements.

  • Rail transport has grown over the Past decades, and rail networks have highly concentrated in urban area, and it is possible for rail passengers to choose a route anions a number of alternative routes. Analysis of factors influencing the choice of route, are required to estimate the rail travel demand of each route. In this paper, we describes route choice model for the transit assignment and characteristics of the route choice(i.e., by relative travel time and fares), and attempts to estimate travel demand of new rail transit based on the slated preference(SP) survey data of Nanko Porttown, which is located in Osaka, Japan.

  • Based on the light an exoplanet blocks from its host star as it passes in front of it during a transit, the mid-transit time can be determined. Periodic variations in mid-transit times can indicate another planet's gravitational influence. We investigate 83 transits of TrES-1 b as observed from 6-inch telescopes in the MicroObservatory robotic telescope network. The EXOTIC data reduction pipeline is used to process these transits, fit transit models to light curves, and calculate transit midpoints. This paper details the methodology for analyzing transit timing variations (TTVs) and using transit measurements to maintain ephemerides. The application of Lomb-Scargle period analysis for studying the plausibility of TTVs is explained. The analysis of the resultant TTVs from 46 transits from MicroObservatory and 47 transits from archival data in the Exoplanet Transit Database indicated the possible existence of other planets affecting the orbit of TrES-1 and improved the precision of the ephemeris by one order of magnitude. We now estimate the ephemeris to be (2 455 489.66026 BJDTDB ± 0.00044 d) + (3.0300689 ± 0.0000007) d × epoch. This analysis also demonstrates the role of small telescopes in making precise midtransit time measurements, which can be used to help maintain ephemerides and perform TTV analysis. The maintenance of ephemerides allows for an increased ability to optimize telescope time on large ground-based telescopes and space telescope missions.

  • Currently, the signal of the human body is measured with various methods, and a noninvasive investigation of various methods is useful diagnosis method. PTT(Pulse Transit Time) which is noninvasive investigation make use of to estimate the physiological phenomena. PTT has a latent information of cardiovascular system. So we have the experiments for analysis of the relations between PTT and physiological parameters. We examine to correlate to the physiological parameters, an age and degree of paralysis on the ultrasound therapy. The 40 patients who has a such paralysis join our experiment, and we obtain the PTT data that normal condition and states after ultrasound therapy. We study that PTT after the ultrasound therapy for patients who have a paralysis was related to an age and degree of paralysis.

  • Dipped track profiles between rail transit stations can significantly reduce propulsive energy, braking energy and travel times. This work quantifies their potential benefits for circumstances reflected in various values for dips, speed and acceleration limits, station spacings, and available power. A deterministic simulation model has been developed to precisely estimate train motions and performance using basic equations for kinematics, resistance, power and braking. For a dip of 1% of station spacing, in which gradients never exceed 4%, our results show savings (compared with level tracks) exceeding 9% for propulsive energy, 15% for braking energy and 5% for travel time between stations.

  • It is very important that the calculation of railroad track capacity in infrastructure investment analysis and train operation planning. The dwelling time is one of the factors that influence in railroad track capacity. Current research in dwelling time has been focusing on theoretical investigation, the state of the research in effective variable (dwelling time etc) is insufficient. In this paper, we clearly draw the concept of railroad track capacity and the estimate on modeling of relationship railway demand and dwelling time. Also, we compare and analyze the variation of railroad track capacity according to transit railway demand in Gyeongin Line (Guro~Inchon). This paper is expected to contribute for improving on the in-using equations and methods in train operation planning as well as for improving level of service on railway user.

  • To estimate the penile blood flow changes during artificial with erection intracorporeal papaverine injection, we injected 99 m Technitium-Human Serum Albumin via antecubital vein simultaneously and calculate the radioisotope activity of the penis using computerized Gamma Camera. We classified the results into 3 groups according to the transit time, erection persistent time and venous index in 67 impotence patients. We defined the arteriogenic impotence with the delayed transit time (more than 600 seconds) in 13 patients and venogenic with the shortened erection persistant time (less than 200 seconds) and decreased venous index (less than 0.8) in 11 patients. The rest of them (43 patients) were regarded as equivocal impotence, probably nonvasculogenic or psychogenic.

  • In this paper, we proposed noninvasive and continous measurement of blood pressure using pulse transit time(PTT) and physical characteristic parameters and verified its clinical effectiveness. PTT can be obtained by electrocardiogram and phtoplethysmogram. There are many researches for estimating blood pressure using PTT which can be used for individual. However, it is not enough for extracting general regression equation which can estimate blood pressure for unspecified people. In this study, we suggested the regression equatin using PTT and physical characteristic parameters related to blood pressure and did measure blood pressure of many people. we compared the performance between two methods. As the results, we knew that the regressin model using PTT combined with physical characteristic parameters can estimate blood pressure more acurately and is closer to American National Standards Institute of the Association of the Advancement of Medical Instrument(ANSI/AAMI).

  • In this paper, we introduce a 1.3-㎛ 25-GHz waveguide-integrated vertical PIN type Ge-on-Si photodetector fabricated using a multi-project wafers service based on fringing field analysis in the depletion region. In general, 1.3-㎛ photodetectors fabricated using a commercial foundry service can achieve limited bandwidths because a significant amount of photo-generated carriers are located within a few microns from the input along the device length, and they are influenced by the fringing field, leading to a longer transit time. To estimate the response time, we calculate the fringing field in that region and the transit time using the drift velocity caused by the field. Finally, we compare the estimated value with the measured one. The photodetector fabricated has a bandwidth of 20.75 GHz at -1 V with an estimation error of <3 GHz and dark current and responsivity of 110 nA and 0.704 A/W, respectively.

  • This study analyzed whether a subway accessibility impact on house price is constant since its operation over time or not. The study was approached specifically to answer two research questions. One is "Are there significant temporal variations in the relationship between subway accessibility and housing price transacted after its opening?" The other one is "How the pattern of its temporal variation in housing price is formed as a function of the distance from the nearest station?" The study area is the subway station areas in the Daejeon metropolitan city, South Korea. Its first subway line has started to be opened in 2006 with 12 stations and then opened its additional 10 stations in 2007. It can be more appropriate to observe its impacts of subway accessibility on housing price because it has only one transit line with more than 10-year reaction term to its operation. The study employed alternative models to estimate yearly variation of subway accessibility on house price for the station areas with 500-meter and 1-kilometer radius respectively. While the study originally considered both a hedonic price model with interaction terms of its access distance to yearly transacted housing and a time-variant random coefficient model, the former model was finally selected because it is better fitted. Based on our analysis results, the reaction of house price to its transit line had significant temporal variation over time after opening. In addition, the pattern in its variation from our analysis results indicates that its capitalization impact on house price is over-estimated in its first several years after the opening. In addition, its positive capitalization impact is more effective in the 1000-meter station area than in the 500-meter one.
