This study presents the physical and adhesive properties of the top coated materials for concrete slab. i.e, cement based top coated materials. epoxy mortar. The purpose of this study offers the investigation of construction factors to affect the quality of the coated materials over hardened concrete. The experimental results shows that the water content 3% of sand decline the strength and adhesive properties of epoxy mortar, on the other hand, dry surface and curing for cement based material.
Epoxy coatings cured by different amine based curing agents have been prepared. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been used to monitor the surface topology changes of epoxy coatings before and after hygrothermal cyclic test. The glass transition temperature ($T_g$) and coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the epoxy coating were measured by Thermo-mechanical Analysis (TMA). The Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) with hygrothermal cyclic test has been introduced to evaluate the corrosion protection of the epoxy coatings. In conclusion, thermal properties of epoxy coatings were in good agreement with the results of corrosion protection of epoxy coated carbon steel obtained result by EIS with hygrothermal cyclic test. The relationship between thermal properties, surface roughness changes and corrosion protection of epoxy coatings are discussed in this study.
The bisphenol A epoxy resin currently used for the conservation of stone cultural heritage items is known to suffer from yellowing discoloration. In order to mitigate this yellowing and explore the availability of more diverse materials for the conservation of stone cultural heritage items, a hydrogenated Bisphenol A-based epoxy resin was prepared and compared with the epoxy resin currently used in the conservation treatment of stone cultural heritage items. The newly prepared epoxy resin showed improved physical properties relative to the existing materials, especially in terms of tensile strength, adhesion, and machinability, while the yellowing discoloration was reduced by a factor of roughly five to eight. The results suggest that epoxy resin could be used as a stable material for the conservation treatment of stone cultural heritage items, most of which are located outdoors.
The optimum condition of glass fiber/epoxy composites was investigated according to mixing ratio of two epoxy matrices. Novolac type epoxy and isocyanate modified epoxy were used as composites matrix. Based on chemical composition of mixing matrix, optimum mixing ratio of epoxy resins was obtained through various experiments. In order to investigate thermal stability and interface of epoxy resin, glass transition temperature was observed by DSC instrument, and static contact angle was measured by reflecting microscope. Change of IR peak and $T_g$ was conformed according to different epoxy mixing ratio. After fabrication of glass fiber/epoxy composites, tensile, compression, and flexural properties were tested by UTM by room and high temperature. The composites exhibited best mechanical properties when epoxy mixing ratio was 1:1.
We report a covalent functionalization of graphene nanoparticles (GnPs) employing 2,3,4-Tri-O-acetyl-${\beta}$-D-xylopyranosyl azide followed by fabrication of an epoxy/functionalized graphene nanocomposite and an evaluation of its thermo-mechanical performance. Successful functionalization of GnP was confirmed via thermal and spectroscopic study. Raman spectroscopy indicated that the functionalization was on the edge of the graphene sheets; the basal plane was not perturbed as a result of the functionalization. The epoxy/functionalized GnP composite system exhibited an increase in flexural modulus (~18%) and glass transition temperature (${\sim}10^{\circ}C$) compared to an un-functionalized GnP based epoxy composite.

In an effort to develop new electrical insulation materials, four different kinds of organically modified layered silicate were incorporated into an epoxy matrix to prepare nanocomposites for electrical insulation. Five wt% of organically modified layered silicates were processed in a planetary centrifugal mixer in an epoxy matrix, and the thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of the cured epoxy/layered silicate were investigated. The morphology of the nanoscale silicate dispersed in the epoxy matrix was observed using transmission electron microscopy, and the interlayer distance was measured by wide-angle X-ray scattering diffraction analysis.

Polypropylene short fiber (PP)-clay particulate-epoxy ternary composites were prepared by reinforcing PP short fiber and clay particles in the range of 0.1 phr to 0.7 phr into epoxy resin. Prepared hybrid composites were characterized for their mechanical, thermal and flame retardant properties. The obtained results indicated an increase in impact resistance, tensile strength, flexural strength and Young's modulus to an extent (up to 0.5 phr clay and 0.5 phr PP short fiber) and then decreases as the reinforcing phases are further increased. The thermal stability of these materials are found to increase up to 0.2 phr clay and 0.2 phr PP addition, beyond which it is decreased. Addition of clay is found to have the negative effect on epoxy-PP short fiber composites, which is evident from the comparison of mechanical and thermal properties of epoxy-0.5 phr PP short fiber composite and epoxy-0.5 phr PP short fiber-0.5 phr clay composite hybrid. UL-94 tests conducted on the composite hybrids have showed a reduction in the burning rate. Morphological observations indicated a greater fiber pull with the addition of clay. The performed tests in the present study indicated that materials under investigation have promising applications in construction, agriculture and decorative purposes.

Recently, research works for electrical properties on the elastic epoxy have been also progressing to diagnose insulation materials by development of measure technology. The epoxy which specially applied for high voltage instruments have required for the electrical, mechanical and thermal properties. Nanocomposites were made from insulating material epoxy resin using for power transformer as varying g amount of addition of SiO2, we found the change of physical characteristics of nanocomposites by using SEM and XRD. To investigate the electrical properties according to the amount of addition and temperature, tested insulting breakdown in silicon oil. As the result of insulting breakdown testing, the insulting breakdown strength increased according to change of the amount of addition.

Coated bars are protecting reinforcing bars from corrosion and enhancing durabilities of reinforced concrete structures are tested to evaluate corrosion protection properties. Tests are performed based on the relevant standards of ACI and ASTM, such as chemical resistance, salt water spray, salt crack test and chloride permeability test with the main variable of the coating thickness. Three type materials are tested by Polyethylene, epoxy and bare bar. Test results show good chemical protection property and chloride permeability. Polyethylene coated bar is good coating material than any other materials.

In this paper, various kinds of epoxy based nanocomposites were made and AC breakdown properties of nano-$TiO_2$ and micro-silica filler mixture of epoxy based composites were studied by sphere to sphere electrode. Moreover, nano- and micro-filler combinations were adopted as an approach toward practical application of nanocomposite insulating materials. AC breakdown test was performed at room temperature $(25^{\circ}C)$, $80^{\circ}C$ and $100^{\circ}C$. The result shows breakdown strength about non-filled, nano-scale $TiO_2$, micro-scale silica and nano-$TiO_2$, micro-silica filled epoxy composites.
