In this paper we propose a QoS-enhanced intelligent stochastic optimal fair real-time packet scheduler, QUEST, for 4G LTE traffic in routers. The objective of this research is to maximize the system QoS subject to the constraint that the processor utilization is kept nearly at 100 percent. The QUEST has following unique advantages. First, it solves the challenging problem of starvation for low priority process - buffered streaming video and TCP based; second, it solves the major bottleneck of the scheduler Earliest Deadline First's failure at heavy loads. Finally, QUEST offers the benefit of arbitrarily pre-programming the process utilization ratio.Three classes of multimedia 4G LTE QCI traffic, conversational voice, live streaming video, buffered streaming video and TCP based applications have been considered. We analyse two most important QoS metrics, packet loss rate (PLR) and mean waiting time. All claims are supported by discrete event and Monte Carlo simulations. The simulation results show that the QUEST scheduler outperforms current state-of-the-art benchmark schedulers. The proposed scheduler offers 37 percent improvement in PLR and 23 percent improvement in mean waiting time over the best competing current scheduler Accuracy-aware EDF.
The periosteum contains multipotent cells that can differentiate into osteoblasts and chondrocytes. Cultured periosteum-derived cells (PDCs) have an osteogenic capacity. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the interaction of PDCs with bone graft biomaterial. After cell isolation from the calvarial periosteum of Sprague-Dawley rats, cultured PDCs were placed in critical-sized calvarial defects with beta-tricalcium phosphate (${\beta}$-TCP). All rats were sacrificed 8 weeks after bone graft surgery, and the bone regenerative ability of bone grafting sides was evaluated by plain radiography, micro-computed tomography (CT), and histological examination. PDCs grafted with ${\beta}$-TCP displayed enhanced calcification in the defect site, density of regenerated bone and new bone formation within the defect and its boundaries. Furthermore, these PDCs more efficiently regenerated new bone as compared to grafted ${\beta}$-TCP only. The results suggest that cultured PDCs have the potential to promote osteogenesis in bone defects.
PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the properties of a porous zirconia scaffold coated with bioactive materials and compare the in vitro cellular behavior of MC3T3-E1 preosteoblastic cells to titanium and zirconia disks and porous zirconia scaffolds. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Titanium and zirconia disks were prepared. A porous zirconia scaffold was fabricated with an open cell polyurethane disk foam template. The porous zirconia scaffolds were coated with ${\beta}$-TCP, HA and a compound of ${\beta}$-TCP and HA (BCP). The characteristics of the specimens were evaluated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive x-ray spectrometer (EDX), and x-ray diffractometry (XRD). The dissolution tests were analyzed by an inductively coupled plasma spectrometer (ICP). The osteogenic effect of MC3T3-E1 cells was assessed via cell counting and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). RESULTS. The EDX profiles showed the substrate of zirconia, which was surrounded by the Ca-P layer. In the dissolution test, dissolved $Ca^{2+}$ ions were observed in the following decreasing order; ${\beta}$-TCP > BCP > HA (P<.05). In the cellular experiments, the cell proliferation on titanium disks appeared significantly lower in comparison to the other groups after 5 days (P<.05). The zirconia scaffolds had greater values than the zirconia disks (P<.05). The mRNA level of osteocalcin was highest on the non-coated zirconia scaffolds after 7 days. CONCLUSION. Zirconia had greater osteoblast cell activity than titanium. The interconnecting pores of the zirconia scaffolds showed enhanced proliferation and cell differentiation. The activity of osteoblast was more affected by microstructure than by coating materials.
When a Mobile IP handoff occurs, the packets in flight can be lost because they are tunneled based on out-of-date location information. In this parer, we propose an enhanced handoff protocol that achieves no packet loss during Mobile IP handoff over a wireless LAN. Our handoff protocol predicts the next foreign agent that a mobile host is to visit by using: the information from the data link layer of wireless LAN. After that, when a Mobile IP handoff occult, the current foreign agent forwards the packets destined to a mobile host to the predicted foreign agent which buffers them. This eliminates packet loss and reduces the packet forwarding delay. Our handoff protocol is simulated using the Network Simulator-2 (ns-2) and shows the substantial performance enhancement of TCP with much less overhead up to 6.2 times compared to standard Mobile IP.
ATM Forum has defined a guaranteed frame rate (GFR) service to serve Internet traffic efficiently. The GFR service provides virtual connections (VCs) for minimum cell rate (MCR) guarantees and allows them to fairly share the residual bandwidth. And ATM Forum has recommended a frame-based generic cell rate algorithm (F-GCRA) as a frame classifier, which determines whether an Am cell is eligible to use the guaranteed bandwidth in a frame level. An ATM switch accommodates cells in its buffer or drops them in a frame level according to current buffer occupancy. A FIFO shared buffer has so simple structure as to be feasibly implemented in switches, but has not been able to provide an MCR guarantee for each VC without buffer management based on per-VC accounting. In this paper, we enhance the F-GCRA frame classifier to guarantee an MCR of each VC without buffer management based on per-VC accounting. The enhanced frame classifier considers burstness of TCP traffic caused by congestion control algorithm so as to enable each VC to use its reserved bandwidth sufficiently. In addition, it is able to alleviate the unfairness problem in usage of the residual bandwidth. Simulation results show that the enhanced frame classifier satisfies quality of services (QoSs) of the GFR service for the TCP traffic.

Congestion control is a critical issue in TCP networks, Recently, active queue management (AQM) was proposed for congestion control at routers. The random early detection RED algorithm is widely known in the AQM algorithms, We present an adaptive nonlinear RED (NRED) algorithm, which has nonlinear drop probability profile. The proposed algorithm enhanced the performance of the RED algorithm by the self-parameterization based on the traffic load Furthermore, the proposed algorithm can effectively adapt itself between he RED and the drop-tail queue management by adopting proper nonlinearity in the drop probability profile. Through simulation, we show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm comparing with the drop-tail and the original RED algorithm.

Three mineral phosphate solubilizing (MPS) bacteria where isolated from rhizosphere soil samples of common bean and weed plants. 16S rDNA analysis indicated that the isolate P2 and P3 are closely related to Pantoea dispersa while isolate P4 is closely related to Pantoea terrae. Isolates P2 and P3 recorded $381.60{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ and $356.27{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ of tricalcium phosphate (TCP) solubilization respectively on 3 days incubation. Isolate P4 recorded the TCP solubilization of $215.85{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ and the pH was dropped to 4.44 on 24 h incubation. Further incubation of P4 sharply decreased the available phosphorous to $28.94{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ and pH level was raised to 6.32. Gamma radiation induced mutagenesis was carried out at $LD_{99}$ dose of the wild type strains. The total of 14 mutant clones with enhanced MPS activity and 4 clones with decreased activity were selected based on solubilization index (SI) and phosphate solubilization assay. Mutant P2-M1 recorded the highest P-solubilizing potential among any other wild or mutant clones by releasing $504.21{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ of phosphorous i.e. 35% higher than its wild type by the end of day 5. A comparative evaluation of TCP solubilization by wild type isolates of Pantoea and their mutants, led to select three MPS mutant clones such as P2-M1, P3-M2 and P3-M4 with a potential to release >$471.67{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$ of phosphorous from TCP. These over expressing mutant clones are considered as suitable candidates for biofertilization.

Currently, there are many efforts underway to provide Internet service on integrated wireless and wired networks. Supporting IP mobility is one of the major issues to construct IP based wireless network. Mobile IP has been proposed to solve the IP Mobility problem. But, in processing frequent handoffs in cellular based wireless access network, Micro mobility protocols have been proposed to solve these problems. Micro mobility protocols proposed the Cellular IP, HAWII, and Hierarchical Mobile IP. Cellular IP attracts special attention for it's seamless mobility support in limited geographical areas. New BS must be known to occur begging of handoff in Cellular IP indirect handoff. Therefore during perceiving of hanoff, packet loss or packet duplication still can occur in Cellular IP indirect handoff, which results in the degradation of UDP and TCP performance. In this paper, we propose a enhanced indirect handoff scheme for Cellular IP. Proposed handoff scheme is using a crossover node to minimize the signalling procedure and using a buffering to minimize the packet loss or packet duplication.
Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), PLLA/hydroxyapatite (HA), PLLA/multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs)/HA, PLLA/trifluoroethanol (TFE), PLLA/gelatin, and carbon nanofibers (CNFs)/${\beta}$-tricalcium phosphate (${\beta}$-TCP) composite membranes (scaffolds) were fabricated by electrospinning and their morphologies, and mechanical properties were characterized for use in bone tissue regeneration/guided tissue regeneration. MWNTs and HA nanoparticles were well distributed in the membranes and the degradation characteristics were improved. PLLA/MWNTs/HA membranes enhanced the adhesion and proliferation of periodontal ligament cells (PDLCs) by 30% and inhibited the adhesion of gingival epithelial cells by 30%. Osteoblast-like MG-63 cells on the randomly fiber oriented PLLA/TEF membrane showed irregular forms, while the cells exhibited shuttle-like shapes on the parallel fiber oriented membrane. Classical supersaturated simulated body fluids were modified by $CO_2$ bubbling and applied to promote the biomineralization of the PLLA/gelatin membrane; this resulted in predictions of bone bonding bioactivity of the substrates. The ${\beta}$-TCP membranes exhibit good biocompatibility, have an effect on PDLC growth comparable to that of pure CNF membrane, and can be applied as scaffolds for bone tissue regeneration.

The effectiveness of testing in Model-based Testing (MBT) for Software Product Line (SPL) can be achieved by considering fault detection in test case. The lack of fault consideration caused test case in test suite to be listed randomly. Test Case Prioritization (TCP) is one of regression techniques that is adaptively capable to detect faults as early as possible by reordering test cases based on fault detection rate. However, there is a lack of studies that measured faults in MBT for SPL. This paper proposes a Test Case Prioritization (TCP) approach based on dissimilarity and string based distance called Last Minimal for Local Maximal Distance (LM-LMD) with Dice-Jaro-Winkler Dissimilarity. LM-LMD with Dice-Jaro-Winkler Dissimilarity adopts Local Maximum Distance as the prioritization algorithm and Dice-Jaro-Winkler similarity measure to evaluate distance among test cases. This work is based on the test case generated from statechart in Software Product Line (SPL) domain context. Our results are promising as LM-LMD with Dice-Jaro-Winkler Dissimilarity outperformed the original Local Maximum Distance, Global Maximum Distance and Enhanced All-yes Configuration algorithm in terms of Average Fault Detection Rate (APFD) and average prioritization time.
