  • The engineering technical culture needs to be fostered since it has been an important factor that decides the results of engineering and affects the establishment of social culture to a great extent. However, it is considered that awareness about invisible environments required for the distribution, education, promotion, and development of the engineering culture are not sufficient enough even though physical environments such as investments in engineering and research facilities have reached a substantial level through a recent series of efforts. Thus, distributing cultural activities by improving social awareness is desperately required to solve these problems, To take realistic measures and establish social atmosphere are particularly important. In order to design strategies for the diffusion of the engineering technical culture in the position of users, this research suggests short-term and mid-term plans and operating strategies that could produce substantial results.

  • The traditional plant imprownent methods consisted of pure line selection, cross breeding, heterosis breeding, polyploid breeding, mutati-onbreeding, ect.Biotechmoiogy is divided into gene spliclng , monocle-nal antibodies , protein engineering , agricultural research, and microbiological engineering. Of these , high plants deal with agricultural research, and the importent part of which is tissue culture and celLculture , Tissue .culture and cell culture are again divided into embryoculture, test tube fertilization, anther and pollen culture, somatichybridization , transformation, recombination, recombinant DNA moleculehybrid plasmid, ect For these haploid production, protoplast culture, protoplast fusion, selection and propagation, ect. , the technical sett-lement is needed.

  • Optimal criterion for the scale-up production of schizophyllan, a fungal polysaccharide secreted by Schizophyllum commune, was investigated. For the production of the polysaccharide in a 150-l bioreactor, the culture conditions optimized in a 15-l bioreactor were applied to a 150-l bioreactor with scale-up process, by changing impeller speed and airflow rate. The optimized impeller speed in the 15-l bioreactor was 50 rpm in a technical medium based on barley. For establishment of the scale-up process, 3 kinds of criteria were used while the gas throughput number was kept constant, as follows; constant volume-related power input, constant tip speed of stirrer, and constant Reynolds number. In the 150-l bioreactor, the highest values for the maximum specific growth rate (1.17/day) and productivity (0.63 g/L${\cdot}$day) were achieved in the culture condition from constant volumerelated power input criterion.

  • Being one of the most important textile and apparel producers for years, Turkey began to become active in terms of retailing. Although retailing industry is in its growing phase, the social and economic influences caused the customers' tastes and demands to be more distinctive and segmented in parallel with the advancement of the retail industry. Therefore, the retail industry began to develop in more fragmented way where clear boundaries between different types of retailers were established. In this study, the apparel retail market is overviewed and analyzed within the context for determination of the current situation and future prospective. To this aim, the textile and apparel companies that are active in Turkey were classified into groups based on the type of distribution channels they used. Then, the performances of the groups were established using the secondary type of resources. Finally, the findings were summarized, by showing the similarities and differences between different channels.

  • Although much research has been conducted to identify the influence of culture on conflict management and resolution behaviours in organizational settings, no study has been done yet in the construction industry particularly in considering the influence of individual level individualistic and collectivistic values. Despite the key role of self-construal in explaining or predicting behaviour in interpersonal conflict, it has not received enough attention in construction management. Reflecting this necessity, the objective of this exploratory study was to establish, through the application of the Rahim Organizational Inventory (ROC II) instrument, how the cultural values of professionals of construction businesses relate to the application of different conflict-handling styles through self-construal. Data were collected using questionnaire surveys from construction professionals working in contracting firms. The findings illustrate the importance of self-construal type as an individual-level cultural variable in explaining the differences in the style of handling interpersonal conflict in the context of the construction industry.

  • In order to minimize occupational accidents at worksites, the government is proposing and operating various safety and health policies. The safety and health management capabilities of domestic workplaces vary greatly depending on the size of the workplace, and in particular, safety management is difficult in workplaces with fewer than 50 employees, resulting in a relatively high accident rate. Therefore, the government is operating the safety and health technical support project for small business sites to establish safety and health in small business. In this regard, this study provided a plan for substantiating the safety and health technical support project. through the condition survey of the workplace.

  • It is proposed to raise the debate on Engineering and Technical Education at the global economic level and to examine some of the issues facing developing and poorer countries in managing and improving the quality of engineering education in their countries, especially in the context of internet and IT culture After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the world is now divided in two realigned blocks: one of developed(rich or advanced) countries which have a social security safety net for their population and another of developing(or poor) countries which have no such luxuries for their population. For the general public in the developing countries, any engineering or technical degree/diploma is a passport to lifelong wellbeing of an individual and his/her extended family. Therefore, the demand for such qualifications is very high and it is almost a rat race amongst school leavers to get into engineering/technical colleges. In view of this booming demand, there are hundreds of privately funded engineering/technical colleges in countries like Philippines, India, Thailand, etc., besides state funded ones. It is extremely difficult to ensure good quality in this mushrooming scenario. There are also many very small poorly resourced developing countries where there is only one engineering school and/or two-three technical colleges. Products of these schools/colleges work only in their own country and education globalization have little or no meaning for them. Besides highlighting the aforementioned general issues, the Paper also presents a few case studies on problems of accreditation and quality assessment in larger developing countries like India and the Philippines. The Paper also discusses the effects of commercialization on the quality of education and social impacts of IT revolution on educational processes.

  • This paper presents an evaluation criteria of an information system availability for guaranteeing availability (service target level) from the perspective of the SLA contract and its technical point of view. In order to verify the effectiveness for information system failure and availability guarantee measures, three cases were examined. In summary, the failure time was reduced by 32% ~ 62% after applying the availability guarantee measure, verifying the excellence in the evaluation of an information system availability.
